N wins this one for price range - the ITS barely pulled away from a roll. I own a FK8 and the N is so close in performance and price is amazing for what you get
Yes, it is impressive for the price. It's a shame Hyundai still has such a negative reputation, most of the people complaining here can't afford either 😂
@@AwkwardYet not by much though, if any at all. The Type S is rated at 305hp at the crank, but the Elantra N has a 276 horsepower rating at the wheels, so at the crank it’s likely closer to 295-300
The N is definitely the best dollar for performance value wise but if money is part of your buying factor also take into account that in 5-10 years the type s will hold much more value then the N. So you would probably end up loosing more money with the N in the long term
My friend. If Hyundai decides to make the EN wider, add real sporty brakes, add wider tires and reinforce the chassis to remove braces that gap will be reduced considerably. Those little things is what make cars like the CTR and the ITS have a performance advantage in the turns over the EN. The EN is a great car but still inferior.
@@Marbindit's inferior on purpose, they want it to undercut the other cars. They could offer a better car but it would be similarly priced and then people would probably pick the staples such as the CTR. But now it offers 95% of the CTR performance for 80 % of the cost, thus being a good value and being able to draw some customers away
He’s shifting that golf like it’s his second race in the world. The golf will dog them off the line and the teg don’t have the balls to catch in the end if he would have launched the golf at 3k hawk even 4k
I drive an EN. I like both the Golf R and the Type S. I always see the EN compared at much higher price points. Kind of expect the EN to lose when its under power in comparison but did well. The manual will be slower than the DCT but i love to row my own gears. The EN wasnt built to be a drag car anyway but still fun!
@@drivescene6747 I know that. Not sure if you live in the US or not? Because the old 190hp Intergra Type-R B18 was the only 190hp Honda available here (Civic Type-R was never sold here). That's what made the Integra popular in the US to begin with. Thus, the only reason they made a new one is because the Civic Type-R sold well. The Civic was a test for the Integra. It's all marketing. If you think not, then you know nothing a running a business. Always remember big car companies don't really care about enthusiasts. Just money they provide. Why do you think the A80 Supra/RX-7/300zx/3000gt were all axed in the 90s here = Bad Sales.
The Golf R with DSG will beat all these cars and it's the must livable and practical car here. The Elantra is the Best Value. The Acura is good but the most expensive by quite a sum at least here in the USA.
Golf r is also better mod for mod. Shit my mk7 gti makes 530whp with under $6000 in mods. You can’t beat that. Will also make the most on stock motor. EQT currently has 473whp out of the mk8 golf r with just an intake, intercooler, and E85. The new hybrid turbo is amazing.
yup I hate how they neuter it with a manual in all these videos and claim its slower.... like just use the transmission the car is designed for (better yet, use the best version available of the car - DSG) and compare. R wins against these two FWD everytime. No contest.
The final drag race edited out the start and Sam left the line on the first drag race without max revs??? DSG is much better suited to a heavy AWD car.
Its because this guy has a vendetta against anything VW. It's obvious how he stages his "races". Pretty sure he's driving in eco mode and doesn't know how to use boost either.. lol
Everyone’s always mad when you compare manual cars to automatics. Then when you actually make a race with an even playing field everyone starts racing to the comments about how the automatic woulda been better 😂. DSG crutch boys losing it right now.
Because all that money went only to the engine 🤦♂ If Hyundai decides to release an EN with a wider body, wider tires, real high performance brakes, more power, stiffer chassis that doesn't need braces in the trunk that get in the way, fix the ugly looks, etc It will end up mid 40s. Make it a genesis and boom a 50s car.
@@HD_Kerinothe Elantra N are under rated in terms of hp advertisement they make more power then what's advertised also the type S is a heavier car so it did fairly well however the Elantra N dct will be the faster car from a roll from the type S and the golf r I'd like to see the golf GTI dsg against the type S though that would be a good race
@@FB6K24Z7 "it did fairly well." No, no it didn't. Why are you a Honda piss baby? "It's a heavier car." Did you watch the video? The weight difference is 30LBS. That's nothing- that could be made up for by having different sized drivers. alone. Absolute blinding moron The Elantra N absolutely dogged on the ITS whilst being $32K and that's an absolutely pathetic showing from the miles more expensive ITS. It's once again a horrific showing from Acura they're slower than effectively all competitors. Not to mention you cannot get it with an automatic- the automatic versions of the other cars which have DCT's would absolutely trounce it.
Yeah, the price difference is obliterated on resale when you realize the hyundai didn't hold any value. Used 2017 CTRs are still selling for just about msrp. The dealer that I traded my '22 elantra n into (with 45k miles) had it sitting on the lot for almost 2 months at 26k, so guessing g they took less than that in the end.
@@vjdfl5Nice! Speculation is always good to include in an anecdotal story. In my area, a 24 ITS has been sitting for nearly 2 months at 52k. I'd rather pay half and get a used EN at that point.
As a DCT EN owner I’ve never had a problem beating ITS or CTR. My multiple car lengths. The type S is absolutely beautiful though, I can’t deny it. It also has a better road presence.
@@papachillaTrue, i have a 2nd gen nsx that on e40 right now that did a 10.4 quarter mile time. it's fast. My ITS is for daily duties with the kiddo in the back. I wanted that manual back in my life. I also own a few Teslas and they are good for dragging but not the same fun.
@@popsandbangs8858 but think that elantra N is designed specifically for races which means it has engine and suspension has been tuned specifically for races moreover it is lighter comapared to others...others don't have specific race tuned engine and suspension..yet they detroyed elantra N...accept it or not any hyundai from technical perspective are lackluster...
@@rahulmondal3444 I wouldn't let the Type-S luxury fool you. It's based off the same platform the FL5 Civic Type-R, the same car that set the record time for fastest front wheel driven car at Nürburgring
@@rahulmondal3444I don’t really know what you mean by the car being designed “specifically for races.” The ITS is a very close sibling to the civic type r which is designed from the ground up for track use so I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make there. Not to mention that Honda has been doing this stuff for YEARS while this is pretty much Hyundai’s first attempt at a performance car. Sure the Hyundai is lighter but it’s only by about 40ish pounds and it has a 44hp deficit compared to the ITS. And it’s also 20k cheaper. I think overall the Hyundai put in a great effort and to call Hyundais work lackluster here is just completely wrong.
maybe people like cars past a 0-60 or 0-100 statistic. Unless you are taking it to the track how much does it really matter? Immature car enthusiasts really just can't understand this concept. If you want to see DSG, go watch a DSG video. Just so stupid seeing this same comment over and over
Are you guys checking all vehicles have about the same amount of gas? e.g. half a tank on all for example? To eliminate a full tank vs empty tank difference?
@@Grimesittybut it's simply not a good a transmission as the DSG which was aided in development by Porsche and has been around for well over a decade. The Hyundai DCT is a lot more clunky in normal driving but performance wise is very close
@@roboticvenom1935 clunky for sure I own one, sometimes sounds like a train coming down the tracks haha but it's helped me win a few close races no doubt 😂 I own a 23 Kona N
DSG Golf R would walk all those cars easily in roll or dig. R is hampered badly with the manual. Wasn't designed with a manual in mind yet everyone compares the manual.
I mean considering I’ve walked a dsg MK8R in a roll your sentiment isn’t completely accurate. I was Octane leaned. Non octane learned in a roll he had me by a car length. Much closer than you want to admit.
carwow did a race between golf r and new type r and it won in drag and roll races so this channel is either biased or manual is bad or they can't change gears
@@ctcdarkness I walked Elantra N in a stock Gti soo... Are you saying gti is quicker than a golf r? Edmunds made a video about the 2 saying the gti is overall better and it beat the Elantra if you don't believe me, but there's no video of R getting gapped by Elantra cuz it's all cap.
Dude can't drive. There's no way the Golf should've lost by that much. In racing, if you're looking behind, you're losing time. Sam spends the entire race looking behind him to see where the other car is. Don't worry about the other car, just drive yours. Every time you look behind, you fall behind. Just focus on the finish line
We all know golf r with DSG would win against them. I get it that maual is more fun and more engaging, but thay dsg is no joke. I drive an audi s3, same as golf r, and can confirm this. I love it.

Can you do a race between the acura rdx AWD A-spec 2.0 turbo charge engine, lexus NX350 AWD turbo charge engine and the mazda cx5 turbo charge engine, please respond thanks stay safe.
do u not see how slow sam is shifting as well? both cars could use a better driver, the integra has numbers thatll overshadow the elantra. no matter the driver this is the same outcome you will get. every single time.
@@lancegallant3647 I love my 06 tsx 6mt, its a blast to drive it daily. in it's time its a real sports luxury even to this day. it doesnt have to be fast to be fun, the transmission is solid, and the legendary k24a2 is still holding strong @7600 rpms.
And unreliable. I have seen so many of these fail and need repairs, on the other hand I have seen those Honda engines go up to 200k with close to zero issues
@@514aam I will say they do have an industry leading warranty. I have a 2019 Elantra GT N Line I love it and I'll keep it forever it has a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty. Just wish they would have made it the full N version like in Europe's I30N version.
Without looking at this, the dct version of the Elantra N is so much faster than the manual I wish that one was used more because it would be a whole different result however the manual is the one always raced here.
So glad to see the MDX-TS/Teggy-TS actual win races lol the TLX-TS had me nervous. Maybe next gen Acura will finally give us an RDX-TS, I also wonder it they plan on giving the upcoming ADX a Type-S trim too
I'm glad I got the Integra Type S but the Elantra N was my second choice. Way more power out of the Integra and much more luxury which I prefer the the 3 exhaust pipes and shape of the car are far and away the best
Fun fact: caranddriver recently did a 0-150-0mph test and the Ealntra N DCT was over 5 seconds quicker in the test versus the latest Type R. Main reason is likley the spoiler Honda added that is not as aerodynamically designed as ths previous FK8. That is likley why the FL5 is slighy slower than the FK8 in roll races. Id imagine the Integra Type S would be closer to the elantra N 0-150-0 test
1) It was a manual EN 2) CTR/ITS gearing isn't optimized for high speed stuff 3) The ITS will have a similar CTR outcome due to the improper gearing for high speed stuff. 4 vs 3 Final Drive ratios is a LOT.
@@Marbind I musta have misread it. I assumed it was a DCT. If it's a manual that's even more impressive because the DCT models are much quicker although maybe similar to 150mph. Also car and driver themselves cited it was drag from the spoiler causing it's weaker performance. The gearing in the Type R is perfectly fine even if it's a bit taller. Have you ever seen a Camaros gearing? That is the definition of a tall gear lol
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 People confuse tall with high gearing ratios. The higher the ratios the lower is the top speed ceiling. CTRs ratios are pretty high. EN are lower The Camaro has even lower ratios.
Why they keep using a manual transmission Elantra N and not the automatic that is faster, and they probably did not do the octane learner on the Elantra N before racing.
Does anyone know if the Elantra N was Octane Learn if not, I think there should be another run with the N already Octane learned, 23 N DCT N owner here . Btw im pushing 20 PSI on my DCT when octane learned.
Okay good video but here is the big question. Was the Elantra N Octane Learned before the race? Because if it was not then if it was it would have walked the Integra. I would love to know if it was showing 14lbs of boost during the race or 18lbs-19lbs Because when this car is octane learned it is night and day difference! I recently got mine on dyno bone stock just octane learned and I put down 276 to the wheels! Please respond and let us all now if it was Octane learned or not.
Oh wow. Okay I have not heard that. I'm sure it's true though because it's hard as hell to get it done in my DCT. Which also means it would have walked the integra auto or manual if it was.
The normal Integra may be a bit disappointing, but the Type S is near perfection! That black with red and black interior just looks sinister in the best way possible. I just wish the thing wasn't so damn expensive...and Honda/Acura dealers (like VW) aren't known for actually dealing.😠
Another "con" for the EN. The ITS doesn't need to be octane learned. I don't know what the koreans were thinking about when they implemented this over complicated hassle.
For those questioning the price difference between the EN and ITS. I invite you to compare just the front area after removing the wheels. You will understand why one is cheaper and the other costs more. Craftsmanship on the ITS is in another level above the EN.
Predictable outcomes, but very interesting to see. The Elantra N continues to punch above its weight (the DSG would take the Integra S in a roll I bet), the Golf R uses its AWD and power very well, and Honda products are as good as ever. Thanks for keeping these coming!
Don't waste your money and energy in order to run slower. In the past, expensive automatic transmission wasted a lot of energy, so there was a reason to use manual transmission. But with DCT, you can drive faster by focusing on handling and braking. Only 7-speed DSG Golf R wins EN DCT which wins all MT cars(~300hp) even in drag.
@@Eugen-Edepends on the fuel. If they go 91-93 octane, it should be near 300-310. Regardless, for a full 10k less than the golf r, it really shows how incredible it is
@@tizodd6 I was being genuine, I’d say he was pretty amateur before but recently his shifting is on point. Just compare videos from a year ago to up recently. Not to mention the skills to adapt to a new vehicle in less than 24 hours
Not only you hate to dragrace fwd, but any Man hate to drive fwd, especially if he like to drive kind a sport style in any road conditions. FWD is useful for my grandmother when she goes to shopping at hipermarket 😂
@@Marbind did you feel.. mentioned in my opinion above🤣? Ok baby, , keep considering "FWD are SAFER" and any other propaganda bullshit which could be easy eaten by those with modest math-IQ level and those which always skipped physics courses in the school 🤣
"like it or not." So is we have a BMW m240i vs the ITS then who's the real winner? The Integra is not a real winner starting SIDE BY SIDE the Elantra N which is a $32K car. That's PATHETIC given its price. What a low performance vehicle LOL, and they have the option for automatic which is what most buyers will get and will smoke that Integra
@@roboticvenom1935someone clearly isn’t a Honda fan… you’re comparing a car with close to 400 horsepower AND potentially optioned in AWD AND an i6. The BMW is priced better because the type-s is literally 10x more desirable by the car community and ITS is a 4 door hatch (meaning they’re in completely different classes…) And yes, they still sell more integra Type-S’ than the 240i’s. You really seem to have no clue what you’re talking about.. the Elantra N is a great car for the money, but you’re not buying an Elantra N to keep them for 30 years lol keep reading motor trend magazines and car and driver reviews!
@@roboticvenom1935 I traded in a G42 M240 for an ITS and couldn’t be happier. So much more engaging to drive on the day to day and I’ll take the added practicality of the backseat and hatch. The M240 from a dig is blisteringly fast but the lack of manual is just sad. The B58 is legendary.
Being faster is fun but a drivers car will ALWAYS be fun. My shot box speed 6 waiting for an engine gives me more intrertest than the golf or hyundai n the acura is sexy af and its def okay fwd
@@roboticvenom1935Lol dictating the car’s value solely on straight line speed is the dumbest thing I’ve heard. The Type-S is rightfully more expensive considering all the things it does better than the Elantra, not to mention it will be worth a LOT more down the road.
20yrs ago, you never imagined that a Hyundai would compete with an Integra or a golf R. In fact, Hyundai is doing better in electric cars than the other companies.
It costs 50% more than the Hyundai and was even on the roll, that's pathetic. These are performance cars. The Acura is based on a Honda and has weak luxury doesn't even have rear heated seats
@@roboticvenom1935 Even if it was for an inch a win is a win. The EN can be cheaper but that car is so ugly that should be considered a capital sin. But things dont end up there. Chassis needs visible brace support behind the seats, no real performance brakes, no wide body, no wide tires. All those little things add up and for that reason it always ends behind the CTR and the ITS. The only area that is better is in straight line acceleration but only applies to the DCT.

Price for performance I agree the N is the best value. But if you also take into account resale value in 5-10 years you would end up losing all of that value saved up front in the N compared to the type s
the most hilarious thing about it is in canada the msrp for the ITS is 58k CAD, and 51.8k USD in the states which is 70k CAD. thats a 12k CAD discount for us
Sam to do a rematch only this time he utilizes the DCT version Elantra N which is 10 car lengths faster than the manual version. I believe the results of that race would leave folks who are fans of the $20K more expensive Type S uncomfortable and wishing for a Dct version of their own. That said, the conversation afterwards, as it always does, would lead back to Honda reliability which happens after every Type S loss.
I have an ITS. I know the EN DCT is faster and the 6MT is pretty close. In a straight line. Despite all that, I still sleep comfortably at night. What kills the EN is how fugly it is.🤷♂
Lets see a drag race with the facelift elantra n automatic transmission, the bracing and suspension has been improved maybe it could give a better drag time then pre-facelift? 🧐
@@Marbind maybe they meant the commentator sucks. He always shifts slow. But to be fair it isn't his car so he doesn't want to hurt it and he also isn't nearly as familiar with it as the owner. That's why I wish he would have stayed in the Acura and not moved over to the vw. that skewed the results imo.
