According to the Advance Wars wiki: "Airport is a kind of production building and terrain." Apparently, Intelligent Designs created the idea for Advance Wars, and they loved it so much that the building appears in all three sequels!
If the remastered version has achievements, I am going to be sad if there isn't one called What's An Airport, Again? for clearing that mission without building anything at the airport.
@@Tsukiru Assuming nothing happens, it should come out April 21st, which is kinda funny since it's a Friday release, and the Thursday is 4/20. (Due to a myriad of industry-related reasons, games tend to come out on Thursdays)
At 30:00 , it really might be my cartridge... I was 10 years old when our house got robbed, in south of France. My name is Seb, it was my favorite game on my Gameboy SP that got stolen that day, there's big chance it was then sold on a flee market. This coincidence is leaving me pretty much speechless !
i believe the "city glitch" is actually caused by the ai being afraid of your infantry capturing that city, leading them to not move in an attempt to defend it, not considering that the infantry is capturing the far more important hq
Yep it's a feature of both AW1/2 games that AI being on a non-owned property will sit here when we have an infantry close to it. This is particularly annoying when a MD is sitting on the AI HQ to protect it, and that's why a mech is sent on the mission Enigma (MD wouldn't move out if we have an inf 3 spaces away).
Days of ruin has always been my favorite of the series personally. I just like the concept of CO units more, and the story/soundtrack is much nicer to me. Just wish the animations were better, but I turned them off anyway for the sake of time.
I live in France and when I was a kid, I bought that game in a second hand video games store in Lyon. The former owner of the game was... SEB... I never changed it because I had no idea how to do it. Exactly how many SEBs sold their Advance Wars game in France ? That's hilarious :3
I think a lot of us are still waiting for Nintendo to finally release re-boot camp. Yeah I know they had a solid reason to delay it but I'm really looking forward to playing the seires again.
I have a hard time imagining this hasn't been tried yet but it _really_ looks like in at least a few of these maps actually killing a couple things might save time because the AI doesn't attack as many times while your' units sit and wait.
Still, to this day, have not beaten the final mission... And speedrun strats won't help cause I'm not that good and I have different commanders on my mission :(
Took me a while the firat time. Use andy's units as a decoy and play to the strengths of your co's on either flank. There are plenty of exploits in the game that can be used, with one of the strongest in this mission being to cover the factories to limit sturm's ability to keep creating units.
Apprantly it was delayed because of the war between russia and the ukraine. I don't know of that is true, but if so then it is either because it could be considered insensitive or because of transportation issues. Iirc advance wars 1 was released in japan just a mobth after 9/11. Again, apparantly this ruffled a few feathers. I say apparantly because I got it from some random thread/youtuber (i.e. not necessarily credible sources)
I think advance wars 1 may be good for a Tool-Assisted Speedrun (TAS), since the last 3 battles are so random that they may be manipulated precisely to optimize the runs even more.
