I visited Albuquerque for 2019 National Senior Games and I agree it would be a great place to train. Of course, I did it all wrong because I trained at sea level and raced terribly at altitude! Same with the 2008 United States Australian Football League National Championships at the Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs, a big mistake with a thousand athletes freezing at 7200 feet with no prior adaptation! Maybe a vlog about your experiences competing at altitude would be interesting.

@tommythomasson1
@tommythomasson1 3 года назад
Thanks a lot for the video. Have you ever made experiences on altitude chains ? Maybe going for an altitude camp during the early part of your first preparation period (November) and for a second camp during the later part of your preparation period (March), before you are starting your tuning up phase. So you can use altitude training as a base builder and convert that oxygen bust into speed before the track season starts. In the past some runners from Germany have even experimented on a third camp in January. Basically, they used their altitude camps for focusing on aerobic endurance and general strength training and did all of their anaerobic and more race specific training at see level.

@19Kamau79
@19Kamau79 3 года назад
My coldest threshold -18C° or 0F° and aerobic I have done at -23C° or -8F° I wear pretty heavily and feeling even the heat which dehydrates a lot quicker in dry air and heart rate increases as well. I would think about wearing better and going little a bit slower in arctic weather.

There is going to be some time for acclimatization to occur. But it will not be detrimental. 5-6 weeks for new blood cells to be created which in turn will allow for greater aerobic capacity(Vo2 max). Im not sure exactly what you are asking. It will only help with your running career, every runner will wish they had an experience like that. When you go down to other sea level meets at schools, you will have a great benefit -Exercise Physiologist
