I am finally feeling better - although the events of this episode were… interesting, to say the least. I never knew it was even possible! i always thought that when you call the skyranger then you HAVE to EVAC and fail the mission... this was mind blowing!!
Man, the moment the Hunter showed up I said 'Wow, Xcom wants revenge on Pete'. Especially on the FIRST retaliation mission, that's some sort of brutal.
@@xXTheKingEmothXx It might work differently if you select Lost and Abandoned (it's been a while since I started a campaign with it selected), but the first Retaliation mission is always guaranteed to have a Chosen spawn. Without Lost and Abandoned it will be the first time you'll see the Chosen assigned to your starting Resistance faction (and the first time seeing a Chosen at all, since the mission is guaranteed to spawn at the end of your first month). I was surprised to see that for Pete it was the Hunter and not the Assassin, though again it's been a while since I played with Lost and Abandoned and maybe the rules are different in this case.
On the other hand, this is the worst of the three Chosen, by far the easiest to deal with imo, though also with a lot of the best dialogue too imo. This early in the game he can definitely still be a problem, but I generally find the other two Chosen to be a lot more difficult (and annoying) to deal with.
@@xXTheKingEmothXx If u dont have the lost and abandoned mission selected u will always get a random Chosen appear on your first retaliation mission. If u do have it selected then the Chosen will never show up on the first retaliation mission. The reson why a Chosen showed up here and the wrong 1 at that is becouse of hes use of mods and console commands to try a mimic the progression before he restarted the series. 1 very clear sign of this is with him having the first Blacksite that is guaranteed to always spawn next to your starting location now is on the other side of the planet.
@@syncmonism Early in the game the Warlock is by far the worst as u have to constantly deal with him using hes psi powers. The zombies are no big deal but if he mind controls 1 guy u are in deep shit especially if u only got 4 ppl. True he can be pretty mutch ignored with mind shields but no chans u got any of those this early and even if u have u need to give up a grenade for the slot. The Hunter is more annoying then anything with hes tracking shot and the use of tranq shots.
DenMother keeps saying "I can't understand you, what are you saying" but clearly you can hear Central and make out what he's saying on her side. I shook my head at all that and at the end of the mission, didn't feel bad that some of the civilians and one of the soldiers died.
Never clicked on a notification this fast. I am glad you are feeling better and thank you for this probably also amazing Episode of Xcom („probably“ since I am writing this pre watching, but I am confident it will be amazing. Since You keep on meeting or even exceeding my expectations) Edit: and as expected this was really entertaining, good job commander
I thoroughly enjoy how you fully explain all of your tactics as well as the gameplay in general. I'm playing an Xcom 2 WotC game myself, albeit on Normal. I don't have the same tactical awareness you possess! Keep up the work!
And to add - I'm learning so much watching your playthru! I've learned to take the high ground whenever you can for the bonus to hit, which has helped my own gameplay immensely. Makes my Normal difficulty seem a bit too easy, though I think Legend would be too much.
Welcome back Pete! I got really worried when i saw my Helleborus get wounded by the sniper... I have lost so many soldiers this early in the game due to not having medkits as well! The execution of the chosen with the placement of the EVAC-zone was really inspired! I am very impressed. Keep up the great work, commander!
Man, that evac move was awesome. I also love the attention to detail, like moving the soldier to the top of the stairs, towards the end of the mission. To guarantee that 100 % shot.
I have watched your xcom 2 run and definitely appreciate how you don't try over talking the Voice overs and you let the cut scenes play out. For people who are familiar with the game it's not a big deal, but I like being able to enjoy both narratives but be able to listen to your analysis. You precise and to the point. Your editing is spot. Very little wasted moments. I'll definitely be looking at your other content.
I really like watching you play XCOM games. I tried to play along with your XCOM war within legendary ironman videos and I couldn't. It just made me appreciate watching your videos even more.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for doing these videos. Have a blast watching through the stories you create within them, the hard work's greatly appreciated.
The moment of silence after that curveball sold the tense situation perfectly. I've been in those scenarios playing Legend and they are definitely taxing.
Glad you're feeling a bit better Pete, welcome back, we missed you! Having said that, please continue to look after yourself and please remember that you and your health are way more important than us. I for one will always be here waiting and I'm sure most of your other subscribers feel the same!
Gosh darn, that Chosen popping in made my gut tense up and I'm not even playing. I haven't played on anything harder than rookie so I'm impressed by every move you make lol
This looks like it will be a tough series on the troops. I don't think anyone was injured in Enemy Within until the very late game. Good to have you back Pete!
Holy, chosen and priests already? Think this game remembers that time you took out 4 sectopods in Xcom 1 and thought "Yeah, i'm not pulling any punches with you!" ;p
Never mind 4, he had a mission where all 5 pods on a Terror mission had a Sectopod in them - which, since that particular pod can't spawn in those numbers on a crashed/landed UFO, Terror missions have exactly 5 pods and no possible pod has more than 1 sectopod in it, means he had the maximum theoretically possible number of them on a single mission.
Grenadier with the heavy ordinance skill is so good because special grenades that you only have one of can be in the grenade slot and get a bonus use and ofc it gets extra range :)
Thanks pete, im glad the quality did not drop over the time. But anyway, it seems like this palytrough will be more of a chalenge than xcom:EW. We are up to a good show.
Gotta say, the Hunter is my favorite chosen. He's the funniest, most supportive, most traitorous, and in my opinion, the easiest to kill. Not to say your encounter with him was anything but flawless. Glad to have you back Pete.
Ironically the fact that out of the 3 Chosen his devotion to the Elders is the more lacking gives him so much character. He is sassy, sometimes childish and is almost always on his own side.
I am very glad you are back up to snuff. On an additional not you are the luckiest x-com player ever. I have spent many hundreds of hours playing this and it is has never been that kind to me.
gppd hear that u are feeling better.. nice too see a youtuber that actually finished a game... i will gladly follow this series =) go on give us more =)
Only heard about your channel because of this playthrough, but I'm glad to hear your doing better and hope that things continue to improve for you. Great series ^-^
