In a bombshell development, the trial of Donna Adelson, accused in the 2014 murder-for-hire killing of Dan Markel, went off the rails on the first day of jury selection after her lead attorney, Dan Rashbaum of Miami, withdrew over conflicts of interest.
Rashbaum represented Adelson's son, Charlie Adelson, who was convicted last year on murder charges and sentenced to life in prison. Donna Adelson opted to hire Rashbaum represent her despite the fact that her legal needs may be at odds with those of her son, who has an appeal pending with the 1st District Court of Appeal.
After Rashbaum’s move Tuesday afternoon, Leon Circuit Judge Stephen Everett announced that the trial will be continued and that prospective jurors would be sent home.
In light of this, tonight we look at the current state of attorney-client privilege.

There’s no case at all against Wendi except the feeling and opinions of these comments. That is not evidence for trial. Moreover what are the facts besides the flight afterwards, and 10 year post - crime conversations to convict Donna.

Since the feds/fbi wanted this case from the get go. Can they come in now and take it over?? This has been a lot of fumbling and unnecessary delays (going back to Meggs) and the Feds could ensure this gets back on track with the no nonsense Fed professionals. At this rate it will be FIFTEEN YEARS before Wendi is arrested. Completely unacceptable.

The Adelson family seem to be a bunch of vipers. Wendy is an evil woman. She started this whole awful family saga. I Dan wanted to raise his two son's in Tallahassee. Wendy after the divorce wanted to move back to the Miami area. So she complains to her mother Donna who tells Charlie and the family's solution to Dan Markel is to hire a hit man and murder him.Such a tragic story of two young boys who lost their dad and now know their mother's side of the family played a huge roll. My heart breaks for Dan's Parents, Sister and the rest of the Markel Family. I wonder how Dan's two sons are doing they are now teenagers and can clearly understand what is going on. There are no winners in this case. Just death and destruction. I can see why Robert Adelson is estranged from the rest of the family. He clearly knew how toxic the family was.

Dan was very happy Donna's case was called off bc he knew another more embarrassing trial was about to happen. He didn't want to be the laughing stock of the true crime world yet again with the ridiculous double extortion theory that Donna was going to pretend she believed. That's why Dan was smiling and relaxed speaking with Donna as her case fell apart on day one.

Speaking of the damage to Rashbaum’s reputation, you have to wonder what, if anything, he did to convince Charlie not to proceed with the risible defense of hitmen who carried out a hit before they were even hired and then tried to collect by extortion. My brother, once a small town defense attorney, said that when a client who’s obviously guilty wanted to go to trial and use an unbelievable defense, he would tell the client, “Even if that’s true, no one on a jury would ever believe it, so what else can we do?” Was Rashbaum unable to make Charlie see how ridiculous his defense theory was? Or, worse, did he willingly go along with the idea? Either way, using this defense leaves his reputation in tatters.

I live in the Metro Denver Area. I was so saddened to hear of DiKembe Mutumbo passing. I remember DiKembe Mutumbo (HOF) for his smile and the joy that he had playing in the NBA. Pass away of Brain Cancer at the age of 58. Gone way to soon. DiKembe was beloved in Denver. He played for the Nuggets (#55) from 1991-1996. He seemed to embrace life for all the gifts that were bestowed onto him. He is known in for his wagging of his pointer finger after he block an opponents shot, with a big smile on his face. Or Dikembe laying on the court with tears on his face, after they defeated the Seattle Supersonic number one overall team in 1994 Playoffs. The world lost a good soul today (Sept 30, 2024). Dikembe was incredibly giving of his time and his money. He had a platform and used it to make the world a better place. My deepest sympathy to his Wife Rose their three children and their four adopted children of his late wife's brothers. My thoughts and prayers to all who loved him. Rest In Peace DiKembe Mutumbo.

oh no I lived in Newport TN when I was in 2nd 3rd and 4th grade many many years ago. I'm now 64 and last visited there about 10 years ago. now live in Hartsville SC. I really enjoyed visiting places i remembered such as the school, church, Stokelys factory, sledding in winter down the hill in front of our house.

I don’t think Alex actually said plea deal. I think the interviewer misunderstood and Alex just let the conversation play out. Also, the judge and DA are as much to blame as Dan for this. Also, they are more to blame if they allow Alex to proceed. The conflict “waiver” , signed or not …could have been pulled at any time. The DA and judge should have never stood for this mess.

If Charlie Adelson was mrdered in prison, would that negate the conflict with Rashbaum? Could Rashbaum rejoin the defense team for Donna, and could Rashbaum then change the narrative on the defense (ie dump the extortion theory?). Seems to me that it would expedite the case if Charlie "disappeared".

I knew John Morgan when I lived in Orlando in the 90’s and his company was really taking off. He was very active in the community ESPECIALLY in getting marijuana legalized. The story that Tim Jansen spoke about his sister losing her 18 year old daughter, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and passed away. That if her was a billionaire what he would do with it. He would take his sister to Italy to see the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. So sad that his Niece died of Cancer. Fish bowl is too small - need a huge tank, then go bigger, over feeding is a big killer, water not oxygenated - you'll need a pump and filter. Only change water gradually every few days, keep water in bucket to get to the same temp as water in the tank and add tap safe, then take a few jugs out the tank and replace with the bucket water. Much harder to keep fish than most people realise. Our last ones died at 23 years old.

the luggage would never have made it on to the plane, since FBI knew the Adelsons would not be boarding. Even if they did not have a warrant for the baggage, you'd think her handbag would be of interest. they just handed it to Harvey without even searching it. so odd.
