I will always miss my mangoes, cherries, peaches, nectarines etc. However, I am glad that I have a memory of what they taste like but also the knowledge to know that they are very high in sugar an therefore no good for me. I did have some kiwi fruit recently and really enjoyed them. The surprising thing was that even though I bought a tray of five I only wanted to eat one each day, whereas before I would have eaten at least two.

I'm praying that you have good doctors, and as fast a recovery as possible. Keep studying so you know all your options that will assist you along the way. Plain old reading and studying can bring knowledge that helps you through the process of recovery. Are you stocked up on vitamin C so you can take 1,000 mg with every meal [get sodium ascorbate not ascorbic-acid]? Also zinc and vitamin D every day? There are two physical therapists with YT channels that give great information. (1) HT Physio - Over-Fifties Specialist Physio (2) El Paso Manual Physical Therapy

As someone who's been following Dennis for 5 years & has been very successful, I can tell you that this video is spot on. Your body and metabolism definitely have a memory. Let me give you another example, hunger. When you go low carb, the hunger goes away, right? Not all the time. If you spent 50 years eating high carb junk between meals, your body misses the timing and the junk. Your body sometimes thinks it needs a 10am donut, a 3pm bag of chips, or 8pm popcorn or candy bar. What do I do when that happens? I take a walk or ride my bike, and if that feeling doesn't go away, i eat a hard boiled egg.

I'm glad you mentioned the first phase insulin response. This is something that's rarely spoken about. Dr. Nicola Guess talks about it frequently. In normal people, the pancreas senses a slight rise in glucose from a meal, and releases a massive surge of insulin. This tells the liver to stop secreting glucose, brings down blood sugar, escorts the glucose into the muscles, and the insulin level quickly returns to normal. In diabetics, this whole chain malfunctions. The pancreas fails to respond effectively to the glucose rise, and the blood sugar skyrockets. The liver keeps putting out sugar. Eventually, the pancreas starts putting out insulin, but not nearly enough. The liver is insulin resistant, and keeps putting out glucose. And the muscle cells are insulin resistant, and don't accept the glucose. Dr. Roy Taylor hypothesized that the root cause of rhe malfunction was excess fat in the liver and pancreas. His DIRECT Trial proved that if you lose a significant amount of weight, you can put diabetes in remission.

That might be the reason why I feel so doggy right now. 4 years of keto/carni with all the benefits but I cheated yesterday and ate two ciabatta sandwiches with butter and cheese. It's like I drank an entire case of beer yesterday, I have a genuine hangover: brain fog, headache, even tendency to vomit and not to talk about the diarrhea (4 times until now!). Thank you for all your videos and advice. A 20 year diabetic. Following your advice since September, BS averaging 140, fasting around 100! Best ever. Last month caught virus, BS jumped to 200, stayed there for 2 weeks-totally destroyed my progress. Since not on insulin nothing to fix it and hardly eating anyway. So depressing. This morning fasting 130, so getting better. I look forward to your videos for encouragement.❤

I had the same experience when my BS was 6.2 A1C with high carb and exercise. When I got an infection, my BS went over 220 mg/dl, I could do nothing against it. My advice, strengthen your immune system and act immediately, if you feel something in your throat, there it usually begins. I also began in September with low-carb. My BS average is also about 140. But with 425 mg Metformin. My problem is, I go into low BS in the 60th and 59 at 2am in the night. But without Metformin, I go into the 230 after low-carb meals. I take Metformin for 30 years now, without the med my body may react and releases a lot of glucose? My morning BS was 139 without med and after lunch 230, I can understand your frustration, but do not be depressed, we will get our goal and defeat diabetes. It takes time.

@@SherryN72 Thank you for your answer. I still do not know, when to take my Metformin, after breakfast, I got problems in the morning. After lunch, I have 84 in the evening and 77 and 59 at 2 am in the night. At 3 am I have my lowest BS, then it stays and goes up later, with or without eating. I measured at 4 am 110 and about 9 am at the doctor the lab had 204 BS fasting. My FBS the week ago were 68,67,64,63, too low. My hope is that I can go soon without med support. In March, I will have my next visit with the doctor and get my A1C. It will be better than my last of 8. But we have still a way to go! Good luck to you also!

I'm a carnivore so I eat a miniscule amount of carbohydrates. Therefore, I don't need to test my blood sugar much. If you don't eat carbs, your blood sugar can't go very high. If you decide to eat carbs, LIMIT them to very low levels to keep your blood sugar within a healthy range. By not having to test my blood sugar much, I also save a lot of money as I don't need to buy a lot of expensive test strips for Mike the Meter.

Some seem to believe that it is more important to lose weight forcefully using semaglutide drugs (From Ozempic to Rybelsus) than to develop bodily health to serve them through their lifetime. OUTSTANDING! This is extraordinarily helpful information for me, as I'm expecting to take a Kraft test with my doctor in 3 months, to prove that I really did "beat" diabetes, and it looks like I'll have to train my first phase insulin response to match expectations, but I didn't know about that before this video, & the results would likely have been disastrous, even though my HbA1c would be low. I'm going to have to hit the gym more often right after meals and/or walk for 20 minutes, to blunt the higher carb levels and keep my HbA1c from rising...

There is so much that is helpful in your videos, excellent information which has helped me some, but with my schedule I can't really make your basic plan work for me- I work out a lot and I need to consume a lot more calories due to this, plus I often work out after work and then I am really hungry after a workout and I need to eat something or I won't sleep well, and then I'll be asleep in an hour or two. Working out before work doesn't work for me, getting up that early and having the energy for a good workout is really tough, then iIm tired at work all day. I think a lot of people face similar challenges in adapting your ideas to their schedule, eating in such a short window can't work. So I keep trying to adapt this and I make some progress and then slip. I've had a couple of really good weeks when I did Omad at lunchtime, but I haven't been able to sustain this, I end up getting too hungry, and eventually the willpower isn't enough. I'm not sure what the answer is, but adapting this program some to my schedule is the challenge.

I did Carnivore for 75 days and I got tried of it because my blood sugar never didn't go under 200s in my fasting blood sugar. Plus no gallbladder so I have a hard time handling all that fat. But as for the topic of this video my blood sugar goes up a lot more at first. And my blood pressure went through the roof as well. I think it has something to do with mixing carbs with fat 🤔 because before I stopped Carnivore it was in good shape. But I did see after awhile back on carbs I don't take as much insulin as I did before to lower my blood sugar. Anyway I want to try to do it again see if maybe a keto diet would be easier for me to handle 😅 Carnivore is rough peeing all the fluid out taking Electrolytes to stop from dehydrating and just so much stuff. I never got all that energy people talk about even after 75 days. But never got my fasting blood sugar under the 200s. It would drop after I woke up but I really wanted to feel better. And the lack of a gallbladder kept me sick to my stomach. But my mind did feel clearer.
