Went on keto and two meals a day at the same time. After the first few days I lost all the feelings of hunger and weakness that you are talking about. A year later I went from 38 ro 32 inches on my belt and just last week I was able to climb up a mountain five miles up and another five miles down without a sweat. I was never on meds so was not that bad to begin with, but I no longer snore and able to sleep easily now.

Report: I was put on bp meds for stroke level BP 160 over? Then put on heart meds for crazy heart flibs. After being KETO for 6 years and stopping my meds, my last BP was actually low and when they checked my chart it was low for several months. They agreed this is my new normal. I also stopped the heart meds because all the sudden they were making me almost pass out. A-Fibs are not a major concern anymore. I'm off diabetes meds and it is controlled by diet alone. I've gone from almost 300lbs to 187. I do not restrict calories and eat all I want. I do restrict carbs to 20-25 day. I eat twice a day and have high fat snack if I get hungry between. My inflammation is much improved so long as I watch out for bad oils and limit wheat. KETO lifestyle has cured me of kidney failure. I don't experience any bad things from KETO. Although in the beginning when my body was transitioning I lost some hair. But it grew back after yr 1. I truly believe keto lifestyle and this channel has been a Godsend that saved my life. Carbs are like demons wanting to destroy you.

This is such an important message Dennis. Most people just focus on the end result and forget that it actually takes time (sometimes a lot) for the body to upregulate all of the enzymes it needs for this change in metabolism.

30 year diabetic, on both long acting and short acting insulin for 5 years, until I started the Virta keto program offered through my employer. It's been almost a year on keto. The Virta program has a physician and coach that monitor my glucose and adjust my insulin as my biomarkers have improved. I started March 1 2023. I cut the carbs to less than 30g a day. Cold turkey. My Virta Dr halved my long acting insulin and I totally stopped the short acting insulin .As of today, I went from 120 units of long acting insulin and 12 units fast acting with meals, and a A1C of 9.1, to a A1C of 6.5 , 30 units long acting insulin, and 122 pounds lost. It was not difficult, has no keto flu, the Virta program is pretty easy to follow. It has saved my life. So going keto while on insulin is quite doable, doesn't need to be gradual if you have good medical supervision. It's better to run high glucose for a time and avoid the lows. And thank you Dennis, I love your videos and advice ❤️

I agree with the CGM. It changed my life. My blood sugar when I was on insulin got as low as 39 a couple times during the night. My A1C was 8.3. After I received a CGM, I was able to set an alarm on it to go off when my blood sugar got below 65. I am now off insulin and my A1C is 6.6. I 'm certain it will go down at my next DR. visit to around 6.1. I know these aren't impressive numbers but I've had type 2 diabetes for about 17 yrs. now. Been following your channel for about 6 years now and have learned an awful lot from it. Keep the good work. BTW, according to my CGM, I check my blood sugar 54 times a day.

Great job getting your A1C down and getting off insulin! Getting a CGM is a game changer! I am like you except I have been a type 1 diabetic my entire life. My blood sugar would also sometimes drop into the 30's in the middle of the night which is so dangerous, being able to set an alarm can save your life! By being able to see exactly how foods affect my blood sugar with continuous monitoring I was able to get my A1C down from 6.8 to 4.9! Good luck with continued success and God bless!

Excellent advice, Pastor Dennis. The low carb, keto, carnivore influencers need to heed your advice. An added benefit is less chance of" keto flu". Eating some carbs can make it harder to deal with food addiction to carbs, but careful selection of carbs by avoiding sugary drinks and foods can be helpful. God bless you and your beautiful Benedicta.

When I first cut carbs I noticed the weakness. I added some electrolytes (LMNT) and salt (Redmond’s sea salt) and after a few days all side effects went away. I think I lost about 10 pounds in water weight and it caused my electrolytes to be off. All is well now, never going back to junk carbs again.

Dennis, thank you for getting that out there. I should have given more detail... the times I woke up in the middle of the night, I crawled to my meter and once it was 32 and then 28 the second time. Good to mention about the glucose tablets (gotten at Walgreens, CVS...), I always kept a single serving bottle of OJ in the bottom door of my fridge for access. People don't understand when blood sugar is that low, you can't just get up and walk around. One must crawl. I'm 6'2" and was like a baby trying to reach my meter. You are so right! I went on Keto, which as a type 1 diabetic was incredibly stupid and dangerous, I wound up in the emergency room and almost died. There is a reason they tell Type 1 Diabetics to constantly check ketones and keep them below 0.6. There is a HUGE difference in being a type 1 and a type 2; I have heard miraculous stories from type 2 diabetics getting their numbers down and even reversing their insulin resistance from Keto, but there is a difference in being insulin resistant and being a type 1 with damaged beta cells in the pancreas and not producing any insulin. I threw everything I knew about type 1 out the window to try Keto to see if it helped with inflammation, and I paid a HUGE price in my health for that stupidity.

Dennis, the same holds true for blood pressure meds. On a low-carb diet, the blood pressure drops as insulin levels normalize and if you're on medication for BP it can go too low. I experienced a significant drop in my pressure and only caught it on time because I was regularly monitoring. I went off the BP meds within just a few weeks of starting my diet which resulted in normalizing blood sugars to an A1C of 5.2 and a 100-pound weight loss.

I prayed to find some way to lose weight that I could do healthy and sustainably. Nothing has ever worked. Cannot count calories and feel restricted and like I need a million rules to follow. I found intermittent fasting. I started by eating breakfast between 10-12. After seven months, I had to lengthen my fasting window, because I believe it was causing me to have panic attacks early a.m. Not sure if it was messing with sugar levels or not. I now do 16:8. Have lost about 16 lbs. and never could lose weight. Prediabetic. I liked your video explaining the carbs and which fruits and vegetables have less than others. Will never give up vegetables. They are good for you. God didn't put cows in the garden of Eden to chase around for a hamburger, He put veggies and fruit in there. No way would I do Keto, but I can see why it would help to get off some carbs. Thanks for your information.

Changing overnight can be brutal. No one worth their salt tells ppl to transition quickly, glad you are telling ppl this. I was already low carb when I went carnivore and it still was rough for about 10 days and I was on no meds. I would also say if anyone is taking blood thinners for any reason be careful too. Not sure if they actually make sugar go up, or just mess with the glucose test, but doc wanted to give me insulin while I was on one. I refused, specifically because I didn’t want to go hypoglycemic. It takes time to adjust, and takes time to heal. Slow, steady and be patient. I would not fast until well adapted. A decent few weeks even to go carnivore should be fine. The lows are still pushed by any carbs you eat, or your meds. Carnivore likely won’t push you that low by itself.

You need to adjust the insuline first to go low carb, adjust T2D med and monitor low carb diet. Our body can't adjust insulin and that is why people got sick from begining. So if someone depend on med to control blood sugar, he/she has to adapt liw carb diet monitor blood sugar every 2h and adjust the insulin or metformin medicine.

My friend you are a humble person, I have been following you for a long time now, yes the advice is ok since I believe in what you teach about diabetes as time goes on more info will always come to light which doesn’t means the process was wrong, from high carb to no carbs in my case w send my reading on Mike the meter to as low as 40 fortunately I always had in my wallet sweets I am okay, today I will never go back to carbs never stop intermittent fasting because like you rightly said I can go without eating for extra long periods and feel in a powerful state the process you teach is 100% genuine and like any thing in life from a baby to a full grown person everything is gradual I went cold turkey but made it was a little scary but with time I finally have the power to just choose to eating many of the food you advice to eat so it’s good advice to go at it gradually like I say humble people will always love the truth and be adaptable that’s who you are because of this simple truth I have some other areas where I will step back and go gradually thanks my friend I would personally like to hear your voice on my phone having a chat with you. I ran into the issue with low blood sugar a month or two after I started on a keto diet at the start of last year, woke up very low and had to eat something sugary in the middle of the night. I'm off the insulin now, though, and hoping I can get off the other meds soon. Another issue I had on keto , and that others should be aware of, was a Vitamin A deficiency. I was suffering some severe eye strain and dry eye, and my vision had changed (same prescription, but my focal distance had changed), and my ongoing retinopathy issues were exacerbated (was having minor retinal bleeds every couple of weeks). I hadn't really thought about it, but I'd almost completely cut out most of my Vitamin A sources, and it caught up with me. I started taking a supplement and rolling in more carrots and veggies that I'd cut out, and it seems to be reversing itself now, thankfully; it's been over a month since the last little bleed, and my eye other issues have vanished.

As I envision the spot my friend is in with galloping meds (including Rybelsus) I know she will not be going low carb. She would rather be practically (and probably finally) bedridden (or worse). HOWEVER, I can see her path to going low carb as maintaining similar control over blood sugar every step of the way that she would have if she followed all your videos. Knowing before going. It really boils down to SLOWLY, like you say, learning your 24 hour insulin reactions and backing off from carbs step by step. After all, you have a whole new diet to attend to. It would be nice to have a doctor work with you but what are the odds of that? Thank you Dennis for the whole truth about this with the full, expanded, story.

As a 20y T2 on 1/day insulin, a1c 6.2, and never test, ever, I went cold turkey high fat keto/carnivore in a single day. I just simply took 10% my usual insulin for a couple days then gradually increased it to a point it induces a little hunger. 5 units below that is my regular dose. Eager to see my new a1c and weight in April at the doc. Your mileage may vary.

If you use insulin and decide to go low carb/keto and keep the same insulin doses then obviously you will have issues that may become dangerous. A new culinary lifestyle requires medication adjustments and with a CGM it all becomes so much easier I am a Type 1 and on healthy keto for over 5 years, and went from 15 units of fast acting insulin before each meal to 2 units before my OMAD or 2 meals a day. Long term insulin went from 45 units before bedtime to 20 units split into 2 doses of 10 units, one before bedtime and 1 when waking up I eat NO breakfast and eating window closes at 6PM firm. A1C is 5.1 and lost and have kept off 60 pounds and i have never felt better I put this plan in place on my own and my primary care physician was amazed and impressed by my actions Its all possible, just ask the Lord for knowledge/ understanding and HE will provide.

Luckily I could check in with my doctor through an online app when I started experiencing weakness and fatigue from low blood sugar after a couple of weeks. I remember being at an event and suddenly getting shaky and went into a cold sweat. I had to find a place to sit and chew on several glucose tablets to help get me out of the spiral. I think. we do need veggie carbs. If you have a thyroid problem, you need them. Keto did not work for me due to a low thyroid.

If I know that I am going to be doing a LOT of physical activity I actually don't take my meds to help lower my glucose level, since your body will use that energy... Kind of what your commenter is alluding to. Of course this is really telling us that the true key to lowering A1C is regular moderate exercise....

It sounds like you are making bad choices in the food you eat. Diabetes is pretty bad but you decide to drink coca-cola to fix it? Go to unprocessed foods, modern junk food is the reason we are having all these health problems these days.

Process foods are bad for you. But the standard American high carb diet is the cause of Diabetes.

Injecting insulin at previous levels then removing carbs is common sense, carbs turn into sugar.

It may work for some people, Keto has saved me from metformin and high blood pressure tablets, no longer type 2 diabetic, healthy and lots of energy!

Along the same lines when you change your diet to Keto you may lose some hair. It'll come back when your body adjusts.

I had an A1C of 12.7 and immediately went on a 500 calorie a day very low carb diet. I felt terrible and passed out while shopping. It took around a month to adjust but eventually everything returned to normal and now I feel great! I would say that if you are thinking of going low carb, take it easy for a while - maybe take a week off work . I was never tempted to go back on a normal diet after watching Dennis's videos though!
