AGV GT Veloce Helmet Review www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/ag... AGV gained a lot of insight into premium helmet design when it set out to create the premium level Pista GP race helmet. The AGV GT Veloce Helmet takes this research one step further and delivers many of the top-tier features of the Pista, yet in a helmet that is better designed for the touring crowd. From the SSL shell construction consisting of composite fiber, aramid, and carbon fiber that is incredibly light and comes in 4 shell sizes, to the Integrated Ventilation System that has been optimized through rigorous wind tunnel testing, there is nothing that AGV overlooked on this bad boy. With a reduced visor mechanism area that allows for increased EPS protection along the sides of the helmet and ECE 22.05 and DOT certification, this is also a helmet for which protection is paramount.

Anthony Bucci RevZilla Keep going with such nice videos... I know it can be a pain in the ass to do such footage, but for that kind of details is why I love your review videos and why I just created my Revzilla account... Now I'm getting ready to purchase my first AGV through you guys.... I'm from Chile and we have an AGV dealer here, but they don't carry the full catalog so we have just the cheap, and outdated, K3 line and the Super expensive Corsa and Pista helmets... from my point of view, this new helmet is the perfect mix between those extremes and your site is the way to go to buy it... Only good opinions and good feedback from your customers... besides that, the price and the shipping cost are good enough to keep the buy as a good deal... so keep the good work you are doing and wait for my order in a couple of weeks... Cheers!

Hi. Thank you for your reviews they really help out when buying stuff online. Do you know how the four shell sizes are split between the head sizes for the AGV GT Veloce? Is this helmet smaller than the AGV K3 SV or are they about the same?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
The shell breakdown is XS-S, MS, ML-L, and XL-2XL. Also, yes, the GT Veloce is slightly more compact than the K3 SV. -DrewZilla

Would you say this is the AGV equivalent of the Shoei RF-1200? I have the RF-1200 and absolutely love it however bought a Dainese Super Speed C2 Leather Jacket and the RF hits the sport hump on the jacket when riding my CBR600RR. The Veloce looks like the back is angled more aggressive then the RF so am thinking it might be better...
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 9 лет назад
Marine00890 Pretty much, yeah, the GT Veloce is AGV's RF-1200. Sport / sport-touring, kind of your do-it-all helmet, it applies to both. The lines of the Veloce may help with that speed hump, too - which would be nice. -Kraus-e

Torn between the GT Veloce, Nexx XR2, RPHA 11 and Bell Star. Which would be better on a MV Agusta Dragster? Not hitting the track, but lots of commuting and occasional weekend twisties.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
While all of those are solid options, I think with your riding position you would be best suited with the GT-Veloce. One of my coworkers wears one on an R nine T and loves it. The others have a pretty aggressive eye port angle, so work better with more aggressive riding positions. -TeamZilla AJ *www.revzilla.com/agv-gt-veloce-helmet

Revzilla I need you halp!!! I want to upgrade from a K3 SV which became EXTREMELY loud after a year and a half, I like the GT Veloce but I fear it will happen the same thing, since its very similar to the K3 on the outside. I also like the SHOEI GT-Air, which is supposedly quiet too, but those dont have aftermarket mirrored shields, and are not as stylish as AGV's... thanks
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
It's possible your K3 SV is too big or too loose, now that the padding has compacted over time. It's possible you could make your K3 SV quieter by installing thicker cheek pads. If you get the same size GT Veloce as your K3 SV, you will likely have the same problem over time. Maybe you can fit one size down in the GT Veloce. Alternately, look at the Shoei RF-1200, as there are mirrored shields to fit it. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/agv-k3-sv-cheek-pads *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-cwr-1-pinlock-ready-face-shield

Thinking about buying the AGV GT Veloce. My head comes in at 57,5cm so between MS and ML, cannot decide which one to buy. I have a AGV Horizon, in M 57-58cm fits perfectly, my old IXS helmet in M 58cm was moving to much after a year, therefore I am inclined to go for MS 57, and hope the padding will give enough way to fit my head. Some educated suggestions from RevZilla?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 лет назад
+Alexander Mielchen (MiLeX) It really depends on your exact head shape. My head is also 57.5cm, but that's just the circumference, so the helmet will fit me slightly differently than it will fit you. For me, MS is just a bit too tight, but for you, you might be able to fit MS. -DrewZilla

I'm riding a CB500x(so upright position) and I'm between Shoei GT-air, AGV K5 and this one. Trying to find what's the best option for the most quiet helmet that won't compromise safety and if it looks good, why not. Also a helmet that I won't need to hold my head if I go with 180km/h ...(don't do often but with my current helmet I need to work my head muscles :P) P.S. According to AGV's website K5 is for touring (short ranges) and GT-Veloce is for race
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 лет назад
+crackerworld For your bike and riding style, I'd recommend the Shoei GT-Air. All three are pretty stable at high speed, but the Shoei is quieter than both AGV helmets, so it has the upper hand. -DrewZilla

+RevZilla It was 160-260 euros(160e more for the plain white version) more expensive in my country(GT-Air) so I went for the AVG K5 ...tried with 180km/h ...pretty stable and quiet compared to my previous 5 year old helmet(it was a cheap-ass helmet from a company max, mex or something the middle letter was their logo - at speeds above 120km/h I needed to work the head muscles and for 180km/h? ...well I needed someone to hold my head because it was about to get ripped off hahahah - This was 75e helmet vs 300+e comparison

@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
You would be size XS for the GT Veloce as well. The biggest difference is that the K5 has an internal sun visor, while the GT Veloce does not. Another main difference is that the GT Veloce is slightly lighter. I recommend you decide whether you want the internal sun visor feature or not. -DrewZilla

Diggin' this lid in the iozard colorway but like my other comment I want comfort and quiet. With that said, I'm riding an RC51 with aftermarket pipes so the engine/exhaust and wind noise is present. Still using an old KBC Stealth so I'm well over due lol. Considering a lot of different lids. Btw, This helmet in the US compared to the one in Europe has same rating despite not having the DOT sticker on it in EU?

hi revzilla! Is this helmet good for everyday commuting on heavy traffic? You know, a LOT of stop and go. I need to know how well it keep t° down on summer heat specially with the just full open/close visor with no intermediate points. Also, does fog a lot? The mornings are still cold here. This helmet is my n°1 candidate because offers high safety, style and good fit but not sure about confort with above points... any suggestion with another brands? on shoei I liked qwest and xr1100 but they are not produced anymore and gt air has poor safety rating and xr1200 is too expensive. Thanks in advance aaaand pls don't tl:dr jaja
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 лет назад
+NoivernMPA For your conditions, I would not recommend the GT Veloce. Instead, the Shoei RF-1200(NXR) would be ideal, but I know it's expensive (though in the US, the GT Veloce is more expensive than the Shoei RF-1200). Of the helmets we carry, I would also recommend the more affordable Scorpion EXO-R710 and HJC FG-17. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/scorpion-exo-r710-helmet *www.revzilla.com/hjc-fg-17-helmets

So I am in the market for a new helmet, gonna be riding a Aprilia Dorsoduro (upright position). I have been looking at the K5, K3 and this. Pros and cons for each helmet? And whats the big difference between the K3 - and 5?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 лет назад
The GT Veloce is the lightest of the three with its SSL carbon/aramid/fiber composite shell in four different shell sizes, but that also makes it the most expensive. It also lacks the internal sun visor of the other two if that matters to you. The K5 and K3 SV have almost identical shapes, but the K5 uses a CAF carbon/fiberglass shell compared to the K3 SV's heavier thermoplastic resin shell. So the K5 is almost as light as the GT Veloce but more affordable. The K3 SV is the most affordable but is also the heaviest. -DrewZilla

Hi Anthony, I had a AGV Skyline size M, my starter helmet.....felt ok, bit of wind noise but comfortable......if I am going to be honest perhaps a little too comfortable and loose! I have just purchased a GT Veloce in a MS, as my actual size is 57. I love the style but the fit is snugger and my chin is touching the inside of the front of the helmet. Should I go for the larger size? Or is this the way it should fit. I was going to get the K5 but I don't like the internal sun visor. Just re-measured my head and it appears that it is a 58!!
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 лет назад
+Big E (WestCoastGPZed) At 58, you may prefer size ML. MS has its own shell, whereas size ML and LG share the next larger shell, so ML will give you more room in the chin while still being appropriate for a 58cm head size. -DrewZilla

After looking at helmet shapes, I tried out the Icon Airframe Carbon Ghost Medium sized and it fit my head even though it was medium-oval to neutral. How are the tear off posts removed from the visor? Aren't they actually built in to the visor itself?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 лет назад
The tear-off posts are held on by small screws accessed on the inside of the visor. If you remove the tear-off posts, though, you're left with screw holes in the visor, which will cause whistling. Visors with tear-off posts are not intended to be used with the posts removed. -DrewZilla

Hey Anthony, which helmet has the best straight ahead field of vision for the chin on the tank position on the track? AGV, Shark or Shoei NXR or someone else. I am racing with a HJC RPHA 10 plus right now and it is doesn't have the best field of vision when on the race position, plus it fogs sometimes, I really understand why Lorenzo was pissed last year in Argentina I believe with the fogging on the shield. Thanks for answering.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 лет назад
+GravitonR1 It's not just the helmet itself but how it's positioned on your head. You'll notice that most racers wear their helmets with the chin bar rotated up a bit to allow the best upward vision in a tuck. So that being said, the AGV Corsa, Arai Corsair X, Shark Race-R Pro, and Shoei X-14 have the best upward vision. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/agv-corsa-helmet *www.revzilla.com/arai-corsair-x-helmets *www.revzilla.com/shark-race-r-pro-helmets *www.revzilla.com/shoei-x-14-helmets

+GravitonR1 You can't buy a thicker crown liner, but getting thicker cheek pads may help rotate the eyeport upward a bit. If your helmet is size XS or medium, you already have the thickest 35mm cheek pads though. If that's the case, you may be able to find some thin adhesive foam to play around with the fit. Both are high quality, offer good protection, and are comfortable. However, the GT-Air is quieter. -DrewZilla

Agv Gt Veloce or the scorpion exo 2000 bautista?

If you ride in a more upright position, I recommend the GT Veloce. If you ride more in a 3/4 to full tuck position, I recommend the EXO-R2000. -DrewZilla

Would this be a good helmet for everyday commuting?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 9 лет назад
SMOFO CHUY Yes, it would work well for commuting. It's not the quietest helmet (also not the loudest), so we always recommend wearing earplugs. -DrewZilla

Is there any difference between the GT veloce and the new Veloce S ;
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
Yes. The Veloce S includes a Pinlock shield and Pinlock insert, and the Veloce S has an improved inner liner. Expect a Veloce S review soon. -DrewZilla

If you want the larger eyeport, get the GT Veloce. If you want the internal sun visor, get the K5. -DrewZilla

3lbs 4oz = 1.47kg, AGV website says it's 1.65kg, who do I trust? Either way, none of these two numbers is considered "very very light", it's average at best.

I have this helmet and compared to its Shoei counter-part, the rf lineup it feels lighter. It does not seem to matter where your head is turned it is super smooth through the wind. It's not as quiet as they would have you believe, but it flows a ton if air and you should be wearing ear plugs anyway. I had many reservations buying this, but absolutely no regrets.

If this is for "touring" why didn't they add in the internal sun visor, if they had that feature, I would totally buy it, but not this one :(
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 9 лет назад
bludika AGV definitely left a few "touring" bits out of this helmet, you're not the only one to notice. Our only guess is that they are going more for the executive sport touring guy who wants a race helmet for weekend trips. Most hardcore adventurers would go with something else for all the bits and bobs they want. -Kraus-e

RevZilla i just don't get why AGV is so lacking in features, and their whole thought process in their line up. Obviously the Pista GP is for race track, and the Corsa is for the streets since you can open and close the vents, so why didn't they make this helmet more of a touring style by adding the internal sunvisor? AGV needs to seriously to stop releasing such repetitive helmets, they're all the same, just different price points, and poor ergonomics and build quality. I have the Horizon but I would have totally gotten this helmet if this had an internal sunvisor, I was looking for a premium level helmet from AGV with the internal sunvisor, and this helmet could have been perfect for it, but no, its a FAIL from AGV, Why get this when you can get the Corsa for a couple hundred dollars more and that helmet looks WAY better, with the spoiler too.

AGV, I hope you're listening. -Hi-Viz Brian
@bludika

RevZilla yea, they definitely should listen, I wish this helmet was more of a direct competitor to Shoei's GT Air, that helmet is a premium, sports-touring helmet, has great ergonomics, comfort, and functionality, while maintaining sportiness, which can also be used for a sport bike rider. No way in hell AGV Horizon can compete with Shoei's GT Air, it doesn't have the same build quality and comfort as the GT Air, AND it whistles like hell LOL. I would like this GT Veloce re-done, with the internal sunvisor, PLUS, for people who would like the same spoiler as the Corsa and Pista GP, maybe drill the hole for the spoiler, so that the rider can decide whether or not to purchase the spoiler and bolt it on, I honestly prefer helmets with a spoiler, but that's just me, at least give me that option since it's pretty much the baby brother of the Corsa and Pista GP. Plus, they can make more money off the spoilers lol, which probably costs 10 cents to make, but sells for $40! now that's how you do business!

Is this helmet good for eye glasses?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 лет назад
It depends on on your eyeglasses and your facial structure. This helmet works for some people with glasses. I wear glasses, and for me, I find Shoei and Arai to be the best for glasses. Shark and Scorpion are also pretty good options for glasses. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-helmets *www.revzilla.com/arai-helmets *www.revzilla.com/shark-helmets *www.revzilla.com/scorpion-exo

I wear glasses with mine at all times and it's never been a problem as long as your glasses arms aren't too chunky.

Are AGV helmets made in China? When will the K-5 be reviewed?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 9 лет назад
ToddHendry Yes, AGV does produce helmets at their factory in China. They do produce the Pista GP and Corsa helmets in Italy. As for the K5, AGV is not offering that in the US, so we can't review it unless they do bring it stateside. Basically, the K5 is a K3 SV with a composite shell rather than a plastic shell. -DrewZilla
