It's a real pity we won't be seeing him in any future seasons if his character survives the last episode of this one. Mr. Stevensons passing was a real blow, rest in peace good sir.
If the character survives the season they’re gonna have to recast the show seems to be plotting something bigger than thrawn and baylan is crucial to that plot they have to recast
I LOVE Baylan's fighting style. So powerful and controlled with almost no wasted movements. It leaves nothing to chance and grinds the opponent down. This character was fantastic.
@@alesharks5135Rosario Dawson is a female actress in her 40s. I think she’s incapable of the movements at this point and then learning them. Baylon much like Vadar worked perfectly presenting a strong and grounded fighter
I like the look he gives when she's running off, like he realized he might've been wrong in his earlier assessment. He seems to pause for a moment almost like it gives him a bit of doubt in what he's doing, and why he's doing it.
Oh man…the man has it all. Size, strength, reach, control, elegance and experience. This isn’t two amateur fighters batting away with glowing baseball bats, it’s two genuine duelists giving their all and I am loving it more than all of the Sequel duels.
I do not know why, but i have strong Dooku vibes from Baylan. Maybe because their history is so similiar. But i like him as character and i am truly curious about what is he after.
@@elementSe34 fight cheorography is usually hard to do with weapons. Although the prequel fights look cool and flashy, you have to admit they are just touching blades for the sake of noise and looks, they arent really going for each other's necks which is why I find most movies boring nowadays. John wick wss the only exception where the fight is messy with grapples to the point where its actually realistic to a certain degree. I think the new kenobi vs vader fight was the best star wars fight i've seen in the franchise, because it feels heavy, and not too over the top choreographed, it feels like vader is actively trying to hit obiwan rather than just hitting his blade
This feels like a parallel from when Anakin fought Dooku on Tatooine only to escape on Dooku's speeder to save Ahsoka. Here Ahsoka flees her fight with Baylan on his howler to save Sabine and Ezra. Also is it me or is Baylan's lightsaber looks more red now?
always amazing to watch these two fight. Such a clash of styles. It was interesting seeing Ahsoka use both sabers this time. Really sped up the pace of this duel. Love it
Everybody's up in here either praising or trashing the fight, but I just like Ray's acting and the look he gives as Baylan watches her run off. He looks like he thinks he might've judged her too quickly. Actually, he kinda looks like he's in doubt about more than just that, at least for a moment.

In a universe and age where light saber duelist have become nearly extinct, you have no choice but to respect the art and dedication of one's craft. Running into a light saber duelist or force wielder is like coming across an ancient artifact you can't help but admire and may even want to preserve. These two admire and respect each other, and both wish they were on the same team.
There are many opening where ahoksa could’ve sliced him, however I don’t think it’s her goal or his goal, I think they have a mutual respect, especially where ahoksa rides away Baylon looks at her with a smirk reminding me of in Indiana Jones 3 when Indy Escaped the train and the other Indy looking dude smiled

It's not flashy fast like the prequel choreography but this style has more weight to it and makes more sense for this type or fight, she would need to use powerful strokes to hold him off, not just whirl around fast. If you watch it at .25 speed everything looks deliberate and really adds to it

I always like when shows or movies show someone facing a superior opponent that they know their chances of surviving a straight up clash are slim to none, so they just occupy them long enough or fight to simply get away. It was shown beautifully when Skoll told Ahsoka she couldnt win, and she didnt deny it. Just simply said: "thats not what im doing" and then he realized in the moment he was being set for another attack by an ACTUAL superior opponent (at the time) Its like Thor: Ragnarok with Thor and Hela. Hela: "You know you cant defeat me" Thor: "I know. But HE can" *Surtur appears as a giant*
Man, the Star Wars fanbase is never happy with anything, even when its actually engaging and there is story progression, needless to say, everyone hated Hayden in the prequels now they love him, hipocrites really, Star Wars isnt Martin Scorsese or Tarantino its just people with sabers and lasers fighting over what they believe is good, simple, the fanbase needs to understand that Star wars was never a complicated story, its rebels vs the empire, man against the abuse of power and uniting to defeat that power.
These lightsaber duels are so sterile and undynamic. Lucas always had a dramatic environment when foes were engaged and clashing. More often than not with the Disney duels… we get an empty field with smoke. It’s crap. Not engaging at all.
I keep wondering, is Baylan going to die this seaaon because of the sudden death of Ray Stevenson (may he rest in peace). If he's going to be alive for next season, then I hope that Filoni will find an actor to fill Stevensons role.
They often plan more than one season ahead. If it is already in the script that baylon survives into next season then they are going to have to find a different actor. Hopefully one who's as good as ray Stevenson was.
This fighting style Baylen uses is absolutely amazing. I wonder who his master was. He's kinda built like me but I'm not strong we both have a big frame and are tall.
Nice fight, wonder if I see it correctly or not but Baylon could have won instantly during the 0:34 mark with Ahsoka showing her back by grabbing her other arm and stomping behind her knee. At best it would force her prone and at worst it would have likely dislocated her leg by the knee ending the fight right there.
He could also have decapitated her after three seconds with that wild lunge to his chest. Pause at 0:33, instead he closed in and used his hilt on her neck instead of the blade.
This was probably one of my favorite scenes from a not very good show compared to what it should have been. But one of my favorite, because of Ray's character. He wasn't good. But not fully evil. He was better than her and during the fight he knew the whole time, he was in control of it. Choosing not to kill her, because he valued her life.
Feels kind of weird that Ahsoka who was trained by Anakin Skywalker, easily defeated two Inquisitors at once and is basically something of a legend gets the old "you can't defeat me" from Baylan who is very cool but still essentially some rando.
How so? He’s battle hardened from the clone wars as well and he was probably either a knight or a master at the time Ahsoka was still a learning padawan. The fact Ahsoka can even fight him on even ground is a miracle in itself.
I'm honestly a bit disappointed that Ahsoka even now seemed to not be able to get the upper hand on Baylan in a duel. This is the same Ahsoka who went toe-to-toe with Darth Vader, after all.
Vader and Anakin lost many duels and battles. I get that Vader was a complete badass but it's cool to see other lightsaber duelists be shown as powerful and great fighters.
I really do love baylan ray did an amazing job with this character it’s such a shame though that he’s not here to see it and see his character through to the end
They look so clunky compared to anakin and Obi Wan. I know they were the among the best duelists of their time but still. I miss the acrobatics and grace of the prequels. Their use of the force justified why they brought swords to laser gun fights. I guess they just don’t make jedi like they used to. I wanna see asoka move like she did in the clone wars.
Some times I just don't understand Filoni. He try in every way to make Ashoka cool as he can, she was her character. So he let her beat Maul, go toe to toe with Vader and here... Here he let her struggle against Baylan who is a cool character but God, don't tell me we can equparate him to Vader or even Maul...
They need to do a better job at making reverse grip look less like a bad hinderance. It doesn't even look like a good defense when the enemy blade strikes so close to her fingers, which is the point of defending... preventing injury
It seems like Ahsoka is holding back on him, she did fight off a whole platoon of battle hardened clones to survive order 66, and was trained by Anakin Skywalker and Yoda.
Gerard Butler could play this guy. Hed have to dye his hair ect, and grow a majestic beard, but gerard butler has all the makings of a replacement after the tragic death of this actor. He could play young baylan too.
0:36, what happened here? She swiped at his legs, and he moved his one leg still leaving the other to be cut but was unharmed. So why was he not cut? Either that is an error or the camera is too far back to clearly reflect the scale.
It always bothers me watching dual wielding choreography. The entire point of using two weapons is so that you can use them for two different things at the same time. Never do they seem to attack at different angles or strike with one as the other blocks. It just seems so pointless.
I think a lot of people aren’t willing to believe Ashoka can be beaten in a duel, he is probably a Jedi master, she technically wasn’t even knighted. Although she is powerful, she went toe to toe with maul, perhaps baylan is powerful and wasn’t on the council because he was too dark or rebellious or something, like dooku or qui gon
These lightsaber battles aren't that great, in fact I find them rather disappointing. If he's so experienced and powerful he should be able to chop through her weak defense. She's the student of anakin skywalker and her speed and ferocity should overpower him quickly with strikes coming from high-low and all angles. Hence the curved hilts. Instead it looks like a couple geriatrics fighting over an m$m.
I think they don’t have enough faith in the choreography and actors the editing diminish the fight a lot I get close up when they clash and stay still to show the struggle but aside from that it lack flare
