I align myself with papa Nurgle so we in the end all are friends when it comes down to grand entropy and inevitable decay. Plus the great unclean ones are decent listeners.
This fight and arc are where the biggest problems with this show really start to show: 1. Ainz is so ridiculously OP that the fight has no stakes and it's not even funny like in One Punch Man. 2. All the characters call out the technical names of their attacks like dorks. It's so fucking lame and irritating. 3. None of these characters deserved the horrible fate that the protagonist of the show threw at them, just because he decided to be edgy all of a sudden. They legitimately didn't know that the dungeon was occupied.
Sounds like you watch too much kiddie shounen to me. If you have a problem with the strength of the mc, maybe you shouldnt watch a show called OVERLORD
Response to the 3rd For Ainzs he knew that was he any weaker they would have killed him merciless for being undead regardless of whether he can speak or not in fact speaking would made it worst as they would think him a bigger threat and try to kill him and take his loot like they rightly deserve this was defend for a being who saw and knew the simply truth kill or be killed cause an adventurers have to recognize this fact of dungeon diving .Those characters were screwed for the start . Only character I feel sorry for is that Girl with little sisters if u want a better out coming try the webnovel
My guy are you serious? If the tables was turned they will have killed every creature in the tomb and raid it on top. I agree the torture before kill was a bit overkill but that's what makes the show different. And remember before they enter the tomb, he was disguised as an adventurer and questioned them on why they are raiding a tomb they are not supposed to. Can you remember what they answered with ?
The reason Ainz is so strong is because HE'S the one using the power of friendship. He's hoping he can find any sign of one of his friends in the new world.
And in the end, 1 got their blood sucked dry and their skin used for paper, 1 got their brain turned to mush after altering "important info" without backing it up, turning into something of a pc that got formatted, and finally, the other 2 got their body filled up with maggoty parasites and became "nests" while still being alive. And to put a cherry on top, it's shown later in the story that 2 little girls waited for their sister that went into a certain tomb to get riches so they can live together and away from their terrible parents. But after their sister's disappearance, they were sold away by their terrible parents and died months later. The worst part is, I'm not making this up. Power of friendship doesn't work in this world nor it helps you from being tortured eternally, it just enhances the tragedy.
@@kaelthunderhoof5619 Only in the original Web Novel, the Author made a poll for his readers on what the Mage's ultimate fate would be in the published Light Novel, they voted death.
On the other hand, a true servant of Khorne never backs down from a fight. Though they were not believers of chaos, their bravery would’ve made a blood god smile.
this is level 1 noobs taking on the Boss raid early cause it was supposed to be easy for beginners. sadly they meant beginners who were level 50 or above.
At the beginning he asked everyone are you ready to die for money, He actually gabe each everyone a cchance to live, yet everyone showed greed and went inside the castle, Ain's wasn't wrong, he was right
He did give everyone a chance, but at the same time he was the one who baited them. Some people are desperate. For example the mage girl here, her sister need her help and need alot of money. So they had to try. Its like you going to a third world country and offer them to transport drugs for alot of money. Sure its a bad thing to do, but many will do it. Then you go around and call the cops on them and catch them. You can hardly call that you are in the right lol.
@@Meidri9292 Well! Let's say ... SPOILER ALERT!!! . . . . . . . . . . In the Anime, it does not show what actually happened to Arche, it only showing the scene where Arche is encountered the loli vampire then the scene went off. But in the LN, as I correctly remember, Arche is alive. But her fate is not that bright compared to instant death. She was turn into walking cum-dumpster where the loli vampire releases her sadist side or insane se#ual desire on her everyday. 🙃
If a mage decides to fight you with weapons and shield you should be better on his side or run. Also: Very fun thing to do in Skyrim. "Futile. Good try though"
I love that about ainz because he goes through such lengths to look cool and appear smart to fit the role of leader. I think he does a great job even if he gives himself a lot of grief over how "dumb" he is
@@grezien25 Granted I haven't seen or read the latter parts of overlord, but from what I DO know I'd say with end of the show strength characters fairy tail might actually put up a fight
@@c.j.shelton7245 then you read overlord novel and realize ainz its on another level of fairy tail universe. The ultimate skill “the goal of all life is death” brings death to everything even inanimate objects. Air, soil, water everything just dies. Every nazarick guardian could “change the world” thats 11 tier magic.
To all those who say the power of friendship doesn't work on Nazarick, allow me to remind you that the supreme beings built the place USING the power of friendship. That and using their money and time.
Love the different reaction of Arche compared to Fluder. One was terrified to the point she puked, while Fluder it was for amazement to the point of tears.
The answer is rather simple, while Fluder was skeptical, Foresight pissed off Ainz to such a degree that even the Guardians would've pissed their pants. They utterly fucked up when they invoked Momonga's friends, prolly would have survived, even thrived (like the lizardfolk) if they didn't. Note that Ainz doesn't want destruction... he's more like a scalpel that cuts out dying parts of a body... Just so happens that those dying parts have minds and feelings, and aren't aware that they are dying.
If someone wondering what happened to them: - the caster girl was cut to pieces, remember when ainz said "don't waste anything" then entoma answer by explaining to where each part of the bodies goes including her vocal cord used as a temporary voice for entoma? That is arche's bodies - the couple (half elf women & warrior dude) are now gaining weight bcs they became a 'home' for one of nazarick 'the 5 worst' (the cockroach dude & neorist the torturer buddy), as a home bcs this npc is a parasite, and they uses the couple bodies for its and its subordinates nests. - the last big dude was not quite clear, but its explained that he is now playing religion with ainz, remember when ainz said "an experiment to see the existence of god"? So yeah ainz do just that to him, so he is now either insane or being mind controlled, it was said that his memory is being altered each experiments. - bonuses, remember the lil sister of the caster girl? The twin who waiting for their big sis returns? Bcs the sister didn't comeback the parents now has no means to pay for their debts, so the parents sold the twins as a slaves to pay their debt, and it was only for the START, means not all their debts bcs how much their debts is, and the twins that were sold ONLY for thats was deads bcs overworked. But yeah, ainz were true to his word, the word "in nazarick, death is a mercy" which says that there is something worst than death, which they now just experiencing, and he do gave that exception to arche, bcs she is the only one of the team that are dead. Its sad tho, bcs all of this is just a tragedy, ainz can't help bit follow his subordinate plans of letting humans step inside nazarick which ainz hate the idea of that. So ainz choose to bait a 'trash' type people, while still making sure by asking their reasons of 'stepping at someone tomb' which answered by one of them 'for money' which then lead ainz to generalize all of them as a trash, not knowing the team 'forsight' was just want to help the caster girl economy problem before then retired....
That isn't an antihero at all. By that logic any villain with henchmen he/she doesn't kill/cares for/wants to survive over another is an antihero. Hitler? Antihero. Voldemort? Antihero. Fire Nation? Antihero. Muzan? Antihero. You can rape, torture, slaughter innocence without any remorse or take pleasure in it, as long as you have other friends you like, you're not a villain. How your idiotic comment got so many upvotes I literally can not fathom.
No. Ainz is by no means an Anti-Hero, nor is he a Hero or Anti-Villain, he's a flat-out Villain. He's simply a "Villain Protagonist", which are a bit rare, but they certainly exist.
@@bidoof4426 And ants are tiny to the point that by the time they can perceive a black hole in any aspect, they’re dead, which is different from having functioning sensory organs that _can_ perceive danger and ignoring most (if not all) warning signs. Like, ants would literally be dead long before they could come up with the _idea_ of despairing at their situation, which even this group could do.
I suspect that Ainz would have allowed them to live or at least made their deaths quick if they hadn't tried to bullshit their way out by lying about the other supreme beings. They deserved the brutal end they got.
Even ainz understood they were just trying to survive. And by “they”, I mean “he” since only one of them even claimed that. Would you really not try to talk your way out of fighting a practical god if that was the only sliver of a chance at life you had? I doubt many people wouldn’t
He would've killed them quickly. They were originally supposed to be an opportunity for him to test his sword skills against a somewhat skilled group. Also, they became living nests for worms, and Robedyck had his mind broken personally by Ainz. I suppose they "deserve" horrible torture for merely trying to live?
They really didn’t and I think that’s the point. Ains is cool but he’s not the good guy here, he’s the protagonist. Does he have some good qualities? Yes. But in any other story he would be the affable villain/big bad and I think that’s supposed to be the point the writer is making.
@@mirum8726 if you watch the anime, this will be told more then once. Best explanation is like a guild room but In this scenario, it's more of a guild tomb... Everyone has their own part in this tomb his being the last one the final layer.
The thing I hate is people saying Ainz was wrong for what he did... If these guys would've just taken the gold he left on the upper level, which is what they told Momon they wanted and NOT gone into the Tomb proper they would've lived. It was their real last chance.
Lo q más me impresionó q la elfa estaba embarazada y q las hermanas pequeñas esperaban a la mayor hasta su último respiró pero esa parte la tienen q leer xq si no es spoiler
A lot of people dropped the show because of this episode. Looks like people can't stomach when the MC is a brutal monster. Or when the world is a piece of shit (poor twins) Anyway, the brutality of the New World is one of the charms of Overlord
It would be a lot easier if LN and anime were rated by difficulty. Konosuba, Not Summon a demon lord, and Isekai Smartphone are "Beginner Level" anime (For people who just got into anime, or the Genre) Shield Hero, Cautious Hero, and Ascendant Bookworm are "Intermediate level". Overlord, Slime Tensei,, Moonlit Fantasy, and Mushoku Tensei are "Exoert Level"
Its realistic with respect to the brutality and ultra-violence of human history. People have become too soft and weak due to modern tech making our lives too easy. We don't appreciate just how good we have it now due to never knowing just how bad things can really get.
@@StarboyXL9 Adding to it. This episode really highlights the duality of man. Just about everyone in Nazarick is written as a force of nature. Neither good, nor evil. -- When someone [good] runs into them, viewer's first thoughts are, "How are they going to get out of this"? -- When someone [evil] runs into them, viewer's first thoughts are, "F*ck em up"! Alignment, backstory, and motive doesn't matter. All were treated equally, as everyone was given an out, but greed kept them around.
It is just sad Ainz need to bait them. Ainz planned them to attack Nazarik so he can test their security and bait the emperor. I know it is a political move and he has no emotions as a Litch but this is just sad. Most of the adventurers are just free people trying to make living. He could have choose more vicious group as a test.
This is the part of the series that lets you know where we are headed and there is no going back. It was essentially telling everyone don't get attached to any human characters not allied with Ainz they will die and if you can't deal with that leave. These guys aren't heroes they are monsters.
The people who invaded the tomb weren’t adventures as in that world adventures are part of the guild and have certain and regulations the group shown and others were called workers basically a group with no rules of what they could and could not do and did what were more under the table somewhat illegal jobs
They weren't adventurers. They were workers. And there is a very clear, explicit difference. Before they'd even accepted this job, Foresight openly acknowledged that this was "the usual dirty business." They're accustomed to this kind of sketchy work. It's just that this time, it didn't turn out in their favor. The reason people feel so strongly about this arc is because usually, they don't have the full context from the source material, so they start feeling a whole lot more empathy for the workers than what they really deserve.
@@thefisherman0074 It is when you intentionally set up the break in to begin with. Ainz effectively set this whol stunt up to test the security of Nazarick. Home defense isn't home defense when you actively encourage people to enter while also knowing they are gonna get torn apart. Also defense from what exactly? This would be like a couple of robbers breaking into a freaking military base, the robbers are the ones who need defending.
@@thefisherman0074 1: It’s not self defense if you intended to have thieves break in. 2: This is like the movie “Don’t Breathe”. Yeah they broke in and yeah if you have to kill them to save yourself, that’s understandable. But if you’re hunting them and not letting them escape, then you are also the bad guy.
This was the part of the series where the author was straight spelling it out for us that these guys are evil, there won't be a change of heart we'll spare people, this is the series from the villains pov
He is far from unkillable. His own servent under mind control almost does it and he basically has to burn through items to stay alive and rely on knowing her specs perfectly.

For a multilingual like me, hearing the spell; "Turn Undead" cast and shouted in Japanese animes REALLY irked me at times. Because to my brain; Turn undead = BECOME undead Japan; It's cool sounding and easier to pronounce than "exorcism".
@@Ggggggggggg520 I don't play dnd so I don't know anything about that. Even if it was found in an English based tabletop game, it STILL bothers me to no end about this grammatical shenanigans set aside by the "rule of cool" mindset.
@@HattaTHEZulZILLA86 There are a lot of grammatically incorrect English phrases used in Japanese, but this is not one of them. "Turn Undead" is neither "turn into" nor "exorcism." "Turn Undead" is from DND. It is a spell which quite literally turns undead away from the caster by pushing them back.
This was one of ains most villainous acts. The girls body was dissected for parts given to the guardians of nazarick....while the two sisters she promised to rescue from her delusional parents were left waiting for her.
This scene made me hate overlord the reason I stop for a while on watching it. I let myself get recover my EMOTIONAL DAMAGE 😂 before continuing to finish the season. It just hit me hard in this part as a human being. 😅
in web novel, arche becomes seggs slave of shalltear. She then eventually lives in a cabin in nazarick along with her younger twin sisters rubberdick becomes a flesh blob that is source of food for nazarick but the warrior and elf couple still ends up the same fate here.
FYI, Arche's fate was different in the web novels (now considered a first draft for this series). In that version, she became Shalltear's "pleasure toy". Arche's sisters were eventually brought to Nazarick to live with their older sister. Other difference in the web novels include: Brain was turned into a vampire by Shalltear and he's the one who fights Erya. (Hamsuke doesn't exist in the web novel) Albedo and her sisters aren't in the web novel either and it is Demiurge who is the head of the other floor guardians.
It's part of an experiment. Those collars will slightly lower your stats, but increase the amount of XP you gain. The Lizardmen died and lost life force, aka, levels. So, this is part of getting them back to their original strength.
@@mistermonologue2442 well their sister died a painless death in anime and became seggs slave of shalltear in wn... so i'd say their sister had a better fate overall
