Love the video, but I always understood YWACH's motivations to be to unite the realms back to the singular world that existed prior to the Soul King being used as the lynchpin of separate realities. YWACH wants a return to the reality that the Quincy grew out of.

I think Yhwach's motivation in concept actually makes a lot of sense. If he didn't like his father, the Soul King, then it would make sense he would want to destroy the cycle of life and death he maintains. Also because Quincies are focused on preserving life, where as Soul Reapers are focused on preserving the cycle of life and death and the balance it creates between worlds, then destroying that cycle and creating "eternal life" would be the the ultimate extreme of the Quincy priorities. The problem is Kubo waited so long to reveal this goal and Yhwach's motivations that he didn't have time to expand on them.

Aizen has this hands down for the main reason. He destabilized soul society. He forced 7 captins requiring to be changed between the turn back the pendulum arc, ichogo's dad, and when he lead the coup. Conquered hueco mundo practically single handlely. Bodied pretty much everyone in the battle of fake karakura town. He got into everyone's head in multiple ways. Juha was just a warlord. I understand he killed captain yami, but outside of that. At a glance he just seems like a guy wanting to conquer for the sake of conquering. Aizen didn't need to kill anyone. Just left you alive so you could rethink your decisions. Plus Aizen's got one thing Juha doesn't. Memes for days. This whole comment was a part of his plan.

I honestly disagree. While Aizen is a flashy intellectual he's also made stupid plays that lead to his defeat. You say him sparing lives is a power move but he spared Ichigo 4 times and Ichigo eventually humiliated him with ease. And you act like beating Yama is no biggie but remember, Aizen feared fighting Yama head on cause he knew Yama was OP and wasn't even in Bankai. Yhwach had a subordinate fight Yama in Bankai, came in casually swiped it and offed him in a heartbeat. Yhwach also took out even Ichibei with ease, something Aizen would likely struggle with. And he commands beings who could arguably give Aizen a run for his money. Aizen might be a planner but Yhwach is a doer.

Aizen really shaped the entirety of Bleach into what we know it to be. The Gotei 13 were rather disjointed and lacked any actual unity until Aizen's betrayal. Let's not forget the Arrancar. You cannot deny his influence over the series to the point he was instrumental in defeating Yhwach. HOWEVER...! For all of Aizen's influence, Aizen's body count only included Central 46(Nameless, Faceless psuedo-antagonistic nobodies), Gin and Tousen. So all he really managed to do was finish off his own comrades and actually make his enemies push to become stronger. That isn't a bad thing, probably Shonen Jump's fault for not liking potentially popular characters to die. And killing characters doesn't determine a villain's greatness, unless they kill the right characters. Yhwach was DIRECTLY responsible for Ichigo's mother dying, which is the first time Ichigo felt like a failure and it weighed heavy on him most of his life. Then, he organizes an army of Quincies who bring the mo'fuckin' HEAT and the pressure is ON in the Seireitei. The Gotei 13 push past their limits and that is still barely enough. Yhwach devises a simple yet effective scheme to kill Yamamoto. It is clear that killing Yamamoto's Lieutenant was part of the plan. Yhwach had to have known how it would throw Yamamoto off his game. Or at the very least he did it to see how "weak" and "sentimental" Yamamoto had become over the last millenia. Then Old Man Yama plays right into Yhwach's hand, gets himself killed and then he breaks Ichigo's Bankai effortlessly. Let's not forget Aizen needed the Hogyoku to make his army whereas Yhwach created an army from his own fucking blood. That is both badass and fucking twisted. I love Aizen, but I feel once Yhwach has his time in the sun as per the anime returning, Yhwach will br more widely recognized and respected as being a fucking monster of a villain. But they HAVE to get Richard Epcar to voice him.

Aizen's case is similar to Madara's from naruto in my opinion. both are iconic villains who influenced the entire series, and have some killer moments. in both cases, stronger villains were introduced after them - yhwach and kaguya - both have godlike powers. but unlike aizen and madara, they lacked the sheer badass feel to them and the influence and iconic moments. so even that on paper they were stronger, god like beings, aizen and madara will always be what first comes to mind when people ask you or talk about bleach and naruto villains - they are just that iconic and well written

Ultimately Aizen is the more interesting figure, for me his nature, attitude, one-liners and trolling, just made him awesome and he had an evil superman visual motif to him that was a really inspired choice by Kubo What was a nice touch is you really felt Kubo's poetic skills coming through him I still consider his revelation, explanation of his plan, his worldview, and then escape from Soul Society, the high point of the franchise. The finger block moment alone was so perfect. it's a shame we didn't get a proper backstory to Aizen and his resolution in both arcs were kinda weak. Yhwach is a great character no doubt but he just felt like just a powerhouse warlord type and not very emotionally engaging, the villain with most pathos in the arc was really Haschwalth TBH Also RIP Kentaro Miura, he and his immaculate linework are in the heavens now.

Yhwach surely annihilates everyone through sheer power, and that's cool, his strength is undeniable and feared. But to me Aizen will be the best, because even though he is possibly just as powerful as Yhwach, he doesn't rely on his power alone. He manipulates everyone, always 20 steps ahead, almost (or did he? vaizards?) causes a civil war between Gotei members, he just feels way above everyone else. Yhwach actually had the big "5 threats", he was somewhat scared of Zaraki's power, Ichigo's potential, Urahara's brains, meanwhile Aizen didn't even seem preoccupied with any of that. He had a plan to deal with the most powerful shinigami, the head captain, he didn't feel threathened by Urahara's schemes, he didn't even bother to raise an army. The Espadas were just a distraction, Gin and Tousen were never really considered to be his left and right arms, in the end he did it all himself. Master puppeter until the very end, badass all around. The only reason he lost was because of plot, with Ichigo pulling a super saiyan 3 out of his ass after going to the hyperbolic time chamber, if it was a real story there was no way he was going to be defeated. Aizen was done dirty, maybe Kubo should've saved him for last.
@WeedMaxxer
@WeedMaxxer 3 года назад
Lmao what ? How is that bullshit ? Aizen lost fair and square, stop complaining lol. Ichigo had to exchange everything to defeat him, and was powerless and useless for a long period of time (because of the loss of his shinigami powers). Not only that but you makes Aizen sounds like he is perfect and everything, the reason he lost wasn't because of plot, but because of his arrogance and Ichigo's willingness to sacrifice everything to defeat Aizen. Not only that but how Yhwach relies only on power ? You makes him sounds like he is a braindead (without any intelligence) overpowered ape like Yami or something which is FAR from that. Dude outsmarted Yamamoto.

I think Yhwach's motivations are actually really interestin, and i love how complex they are. You usually only see villians with one or two but Yhwach has a lot of different interwoven motivations. Im gonna try to bullet format my thoughts because I'm not sure how else to communicate them I think his desire to make a new state for the quincies is genuine in the beginning, but he's also a bloodthristy cold hearted killer. So while he cares about his race, he doesn't care about his individual people. And as he gains high almighty i think its very purposeful that he loses sight of the quincies and just discards them. I think this could've been done a bit better by maybe have a confrontation with a soldier who asks him why he's raptur'ing them all and he says along the lines of "it doesn't matter i can make you all again in my new world, a world for quincies. This is also shown by the shadows obscured by his face, and considering aizen stopped using his abilities when he evolved i think its a clear parallel. His anger at the humiliation of his father is probably the most interesting part of his motivations. For one its a lot more personal than vilian motivations tend to be. Uniquely, it also ties into the world building extremely well, considering his father is the foundation OF the world which is such an interesting concept. Its heavily implied his father was betrayed and sealed against his consent by the shinigam. It just raises so many questions, why the 3 world system, how did they shinigami fight essentially god, how did this affect yhwachs view of the world. Does he thinks its disgusting? Shameful? Does he have a deep love for his father suppressed? Is that actually his father or is he talking metaphorically? Ect. This definitely should have been expanded more on His fear of death is to me the weakest motivation. For one he's already died, so ya maybe thatd give him ptsd. But it's never really shown or mentioned, even when he's on the verge of death AGAIN by being turned into a black ant. It just seemed more shoe horned in, again just like aizens loneliness theme. So i guess kubo's consistent at the very least. We could have at least seen a mix of fear and or rage when he's almost killed. I think him sitting back in his chair at the end is supposed to contrast aizen, who became a much more aggressive frontline fighter once he evolved. I can appreciate that but like you said i just dont think it fits well. It would've been more believable for Yhwach's character to throw away other weapons like Yamamotos bankai, his troops, ect and engage others like a peasant would. I think him fighting from far away also is supposed to represent his fear of death and his "hate of violence" but it just isn't well represented AND he's never struck me as a person who hated fighting. On the contrary he seems to love exercising power over others. So it just doesn't really vibe well with eachother. I do think all his motivations link and relate. Somewhere there's a version of bleach where they all genuinely flow into eachother, get expanded, and make sense. Which i think would've made Yhwach one of the most multilayered complex and best villians. Possibly ever. But unfortunately everything was just..not quite good enough. The fleshing out of his character and motivations, the way they relate and then evolve, ect. Still, i love even the concept of him and the final. Product we have is still an intimidating, well done, and memorable antagonist.

I really don't feel any depth in Ywach character to be honest, its just feels like about any other final boss whose just have to be so OP, Aizen on the other hand is different, he got me curious till the very end about his Character, he's just so mysterious and unpredictable specially the time when Kizuke is sealing him in the final battle of the Arrancar saga, that conversation of Aizen and Kizuke makes me wonder "what if Aizen really has a point?" Not only was it off-screen, it was already done. Arrancars were already a thing before Aizen, as was their ranking system. @graylinshowell7051
@graylinshowell7051 3 года назад
I feel as though Aizen is the better villain. With the choices that they make, especially near their defeat, it feels more like neither of them wanted to actually win. Aizen essentially creates the ideal environment for his only potential threat to actualize. His motivation, that he was too powerful and too intelligent and couldn't accept the way the social society was ruled doesn't feel true. He says himself that Captain Commander Yamamoto was more powerful than him and Urahara was more intelligent than him. He succeeded in eliminating he council of 46 Chambers, and despite not even meeting the Soul King, he instituted permanent change in the Soul Society. Even the fact that he is not killed, but rather imprisoned, makes me feel like he accomplished exactly what he wanted. Ywach repeatedly shows that he is capable of doing anything he wants, but it feels like he doesn't even know his true goal. Every major step feels like you learn another reason why he should win, but he throws it away. Looking back, Aizen could almost be painted as an antihero. He saw flaws in the Soul Society and he became a villain to try to fix it. It feels like his entire story could be his way of saying that he wanted the shinigami to be prepared for something bigger than them. Ywach too transforms things, but the way that he discards his victory and his life makes me feel like he never knew what he wanted. Nothing felt like winning for him and although he is a more powerful villain, it makes me dislike his story more.

I say Yhwach because of how personal of an enemy he was for Ichigo (and Uryu). First Yhwach is responsible for the single most important event in Bleach -the death of Ichigo’s mom. Sure other things may be more grand but that made Ichigo who he is. But also the Yhwach=Old Man Zangetsu is such an amazing betrayal of sorts. Yes, OMZ is not exactly Yhwach. But just the fact he had been deceiving Ichigo of his true identity was such a gut punch because of his mentoring role. I love the irony of Old Man Zangetsu representing Yhwach of the past and being ultimately the defeat of his own future self. Old Man Zangetsu felt like he was the last of Yhwach’s humanity and Yhwach himself just became more and more of a monster. Finally Yhwach acting like everything exists just to serve him and his goals is amazingly selfish and obtuse and yet it works because of how grand Yhwach is. Aizen had to manipulate the Espada but the Sternritter basically worshipped Yhwach. Of course you got Sternritter who realize they are mere pawns but it’s too little too late. I feel like Yhwach’s popularity will go up exponentially when the anime comes out.
