While I agree the second game's combat is leagues better than the original, Alan Wake 1's combat is actually pretty great and still feels good to this day.

Alan wake 1 was a groundbreaking game, the graphics and animations in the 2010 game are so good that if this game was released this year, people would think it was a new generation game

AW1 slander is crazy The first game’s combat is so good The system creates the perfect stressful enemy encounters without ever feeling unfair Sometimes you encounter a couple of enemies and defeat em both with one round of revolver shots, while another time you might use one too many batteries or drain all your shotgun ammo and have to weave around a horde of enemies while mashing the hell out of the reload button Or don’t even get me started on that section where you lose your gun and have to rely on the other guy to take out waves of enemies while your fighting for your life on this tiny little overhang AW2 was fantastic, but I personally liked the combat in AW1 more

Alan Wake 1 is an excellent game, so why do people make these videos? Not every developer is making CoD and saying "screw the old games kids, new and improved aim system with gun power plus 420 is ALL YOU NEED." I'd suggest playing the first one as it gives you a good background on Wake's character and motivations.

The fact Alan is a writer and in canon admits to having never shot a gun outside a firing range gives a lot of accidental depth to the lackluster combat of the first game. Him going John Wick on The Taken in the Dark Place in the sequel makes soooo much sense canon wise. After such a long time fighting them he had to learn how to fight and survive using as many tools at his disposal as he could

Love that they use the look of the enemies from control seeing as they’re set in the same universe, i never got around to finishing that game, so many things to do in it but damn is it good

choose a fair comparison, you chose a 1v1 with a basic enemy in an open area vs multiple enemies in a room filled with obstacles to constrict movement, honestly i feel like 1 had more of the actually difficult sequences than 2 did

Dude I watch John wick 4 while 12 hours into the game, and while watching John Wick 4 I thought “Alan Wake 2s gameplay works oddly well for a John Wick style game…” Like the jogging “run” the gunplay the dodging. It just works!!

so you basically took the most boring scene out of 1 and compared it to a highly dynamic fight scene in 2... woah great job

So the difference is that one is played incorrectly while listening to Bavarian Oompah music while the other is played the way it's supposed to be with techno in the background? Alan in the first one is supposed to have the combat skills, and aerobic fitness level, of a professional writer. But the person playing AW1 here isn't even burning the shadow away using the boosted flashlight like they're supposed to. Which is why the bullets aren't doing anything.

Now am i the only one who thinks the thumbnail looks like Alan wake ripping a bong
