If you are born in St. Louis you are raised to love Imo's pizza, gooey butter cake, Anheuser-Busch beer, Blues hockey and Cardinals baseball. This man is what truly made me fall in love with the sport. He helped bring the Cards 2 rings on that unstoppable 2006 team and the amazing miracle that that 2011 team had. It has been a true blessing to watch this man become one of the best hitters this sport has ever seen! .300 hitter, 600 hr club, 3,000 hit club, 3rd person in the history of baseball to get 2,000 RBIs, 6 time silver slugger, 3 time MVP. No doubt hall of famer and will be guaranteed to have his number retired by the St. Louis Cardinals! Can't wait for that day to come
@@Jacobthekid28 ---> you remind me of myself denying the A’s were roided up back in the days. We see how that turned out now didn’t we. It was very hard for me to accept it cause Rickey Henderson is my favorite player. Bet you young bucks think Arnold and Sly are still legit. SMH
I'm so glad I've gotten to witness this not only as a Cardinal fan, but as a baseball fan. We always hear about the legends of Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb, etc. but only have so few visual moments that truly captured their legendary status. People will forever be able to watch and remember just how special he was to the game of baseball
People bring up Bonds taking them and he cheated. He already was great. The biggest travesty of all was 2006!!! Ryan Howard has 58 149 Pujols 49 137 but Pujols has ZERO help next closest Card was Rolen w 22 95- Phillies had Utley and Rollins have MONSTER years and ALL 3 Phillies combined didn’t even make the WC - meanwhile Stl won the WS!!! Pujols ALSO lead ALL of MLB in HRs n RBIs that yr until he went on 15 day DL in July? Guy was .331 49 137 n WS champ with NO HELP!!! He also lost one to Votto and beat Votto is every category but one- He in reality should have 5 not including Bonds.
The one to Howard was the worst mvp travesty since K Gibson over Strawberry - one man 331 47 139 Only Rolen had 22 95 n Stl won WS!! Phi had Utley n Tollins have MVP seasons n all 3 still didn’t get Phi into a WC - n Votto got one over him I still don’t know how?? Not to mention Bonds - he has 5 plus 2 even w Bonds cheating - 7 in 9 yrs that’s what it should have been - that’s ridiculous
No he should have had 5 ......If you discluded bonds for the roids...then yes he could have had 7 or 8. Though Halladay should have took one of those and Utley could have won one of the MVP's Pujols did win. But I would he should have won 4 and if you disclude bonds because oth cheating 6
@@justingardner4658 Halladay should have won one of the MVP's Bonds one...His was higher than Pujols (And he threw a perfect game). And Utley could have won one the ones AP did win. He doesn't have 5. He has 3.
As a Reds fan I'll admit that I did not like Albert for a long time, but I eventually started to respect the greatness (same with Molina). Pujols will go down as a top 10 hitter stats wise.
agree. Miggy had a higher ceiling IMO but not the power for as long, or the doubles. Pujols edges him out IMO. Miggy won't ever hit for power again, might be a better singles hitter though.
Hands down the BEST hitter I’ve ever seen. Even in Anaheim every year his 162 game avg is 30 HRs 100 + RBIs - one year he had 40 95 and another 23 119 - the rest 30 n 100 - 50 2bs one year.
It's sad that many are knocking this legendary player. Injuries and age have somewhat caught up with him... But he missed probably most of two seasons with the Angels. If he hadn't imagine the records that would be shattered. My hope is that when his Angels contact is up he will be resigned by St. Louis so he can officially retire a Cardinal. Long live Prince Albert.👍
With 662 homers, 2100 RBIs, 299 AVG, .377 OBP, 546 SLG, 924 OPS, 5923 Total Bases, I think he is not only going to be a hall of famer, but be known as the greatest right-handed hitter of all-time.
@@dannywoodson5049 obviously i wasn't around in the 20s to personally witness guys like Ruth and gehrig or the 40s and guys like musial and Ted Williams I did see mays and Aaron and clemente etc as a very young kid and yeah Albert doesn't have to take a back seat to anyone at the plate
Fantastic player and obviously a first ballot hall of famer. I still feel that he's a bit under appreciated and underrated for all his achievements because he's never been a flamboyant guy . He's a consistent productive quality player and thats to his advantage. He doesn't need to act like a clown or crave attention I'm not sure if Albert officially retired or he's gonna hang on another year or two
As a Cardinals fan, it makes me sad to think that he’ll probably go in to the HOF as an Angel. But, we all know his best years were when he had the birds on the bat.
I don't think so. Why would he? I'm looking at it as a baseball fan, his cardinals days were better than his Angels so he like HAS to be a Cardinal in the HOF.
The guy can still mash, but the days of .300/40/100 are long gone, even 30 HR, but he got close to 100 RBI again...... His career is alot like Frank Thomas' (10 seasons of .300 then dropped off, although Frank's OBP stayed much MUCH higher). I'm expecting another solid campaign from King Albert in 2020 for his 20th season.
More RBIs than Babe Ruth, only Hank Aaron ahead of him....4th player to hit 700 home runs and he hit 703, 11 shy of Babe Ruth 3rd all time in extra base hits behind Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds....10th all time in hits....5th all time in doubles....What could have been if we didn't have that dumb 60 game COVID season....and if instead it was a full season with actual live people in the stands.....He is really fun to watch play the game....and when he connects for a home run it sure is loud and thunderous ....I know everybody at some point has to retire but it's sad....He was really rejuvenated being back with the Cardinals.... Hopefully he pulls a Tom Brady and changes his mind and decides to play next season!
How does a guy average 325 with 40plus and 120rbis from 21 to 31 then from 31 on average 240 30 homer and 90 something rbis. Balls werent jumping off his bat after the testing got strict, just saying.
Unanimous? Whoever doesn’t vote for 600+ doubles, 3,000+ hits, lifetime average of .295+, 650+ homeruns, 2,000+ rbi, needs to have their privileges revoked 😂😂
