i LOVE how softly alex says “i would never call you a coward” like ugh you can just SEE how in love he is with henry and how sad he is henry was trying to break it up 😭
the saddest thing for me there is alex finally understanding that henry is projecting his view of himself to him and it hurts because that's how Henry view himself: Liar and Coward.
@@manics0613yes! It’s easy for us to see this, but Alex is in the dark. And we can see through Taylor’s performance when Alex starts to understand Henry’s projection. He starts to think about their future even though Henry isn’t ready for it.
“I will trouble you no longer.” That’s not something an American would say. That’s something a Brit would say. An amazing detail showing how big an impact Henry has made on Alex, as Alex is now occasionally talking like Henry would. ❤
When our baby Henry tells Alex “can’t call me a coward for it”, it’s clearly showing his own thoughts and how he views himself. For those hiding rn, y’all ain’t cowards. Take your time, we’ll be here when you’re ready.
3:08 “i would never leave this room if i didn’t think there was any hope of holding on to the happiness i have found with you and if you think otherwise then you don’t know me. so tell me to go henry, and i promise i will walk out that door and trouble you no longer.” i love how alex starts to speak (a lil) shakespearean like man who writes 1700 century love letters, just like henry’s old heart. ugh, taylor and nick did this scene so beautifully! ❤
I think deep down Henry wanted Alex to fight for him. Alex knew that's what Henry needed even if Henry didn't recognize it. Henry needed a strong supportive partner if he were to finally confront the royal family. Henry was just too scared in this moment. Later we see how strong Henry is with Alex beside him confronting the King. In that moment, Alex became the found family that Henry deserved.
He needed Alex to fight for him, but it wasn't conscious. He couldn't see that he deserved to love and be loved. In the book, this is made much clearer by the whole story of his father's death, etc. (I highly recommend reading it) Henry’s character is guided by the pain of grief and the omission of his own desires, so he doesn't know what he needs to do for himself. He needed someone to show him that he has this right. That he deserves to be happy.
@@nickmendes7479 right because most people would have not gone after Henry... they would have gave up and not saying I blame them because being ghosted hurts... I was mad at Henry but I understand... when you are born into royalty your life is your country's and princes are supposed to get married to a woman and procreate. "Aww honey princes aren't allowed to be gay, you know that."-Nora.. being bisexual is more accepted in the US than anywhere else so Alex didn't have the same issues Henry had,,,
This and the following two scenes (dance in museum and farewell at the jetport) are my favorite scenes. The emotions and the TALENT of these two actors are on full display.
Henry’s projecting all the insecurities and doubts he’s had about himself on to Alex here because he never once called him a liar or anything remotely negative lol poor babe
Word. Alex handled that entire comment quite because another person would've been ready to fight. He didn't develop a spine so he had to take it somewhere with somebody.
Yes, he did have just as much to lose because his mother hasa higher rank so being the first son is just as pressure packed. Royal families are figure heads so Henry would only catch heat in the UK whereas a child of any US president will always have the world looking over their shoulder.
I'm watching this yet again and noticed the moment when Alex is trying to call Henry and Henry is in a meeting (Bea and Philip are either side of him) when Henry turns his mobile face down to ignore it, Bea tells him NO, very cool moment.
@@nickmendes7479however there was nothing casual about 😊the way Henry and alex did things... they kissed like they couldn't get enough of each other and the way they looked at each other..there was so much passion there..
I dont fully understand this scene if someone wouldn't mind educating me. Was Henry implying that Alex wanted him to come out. The line 'i wont trade one prison for another' is that Henry not wanting to pretend even more or?
Alex wants a career in politics, meaning cameras, public eye, tabloids, etc and Henry is already living a life in the public eye. It's like living in a gilded cage and he doesn't want live in another.
I think this may have been due to having to leave things out from the book for the sake of the movie. I agree, while an interesting point to say, it felt super random thrown into the middle of this argument.
I didn't screen record it. I actually downloaded the whole movie and then edited them out. Actually, I made a whole edit of all their cute/funny scenes but RU-vid kept blocking them so I just gave up. 😭
@@nickmendes7479 ok gotcha!! Thank you! Also, did you read the book at all? As much as I love this scene I wish it was accurate to the book. Henry is to like throw himself at Alex after he tells Henry to make him leave and they were supposed to have this beautiful intimate moment knowing very well it could be their last time making love and ugh I need a sequel and deleted scenes to get over it lol nevertheless it is still so so good.
I hate how he projected his feelings onto Alex .. Alex doesn't think he is coward even though he ran away from Alex with no explanation.. I wouldn't have went after him...
