I felt so sad for Henry. His personal thoughts and feelings that he shared only with Alex in trust and confidence were purposely leaked to the public by that asshat Miguel out of jealousy and spite, and there wasn't a thing he could do about it except want to talk to Alex, and the people around him wouldn't even let him do that🙁 so glad Alex stepped up later and addressed the news, as well as flew to Henry in his moment of need.
From one of Henry's email to Alex..... "And then I was a careless fool, and I fell in love with you anyway. When you rang me at truly shocking hours of the night, I loved you. When you kissed me in disgusting public toilets and pouted in hotel bars and made me happy in ways in which it had never even occurred to me that a mangled-up, locked-up person like me could be happy, I loved you. And then, inexplicably, you had the absolute audacity to love me back. Can you believe it?" Y'all really gotta read the book if you haven't. So heartfelt ❤
This makes me upset because Miguel did that mostly because he was jealous and hated that Alec snubbed him... he released those emails and then wrote an article. I think he or had someone hack into Alex emails and that's also how he found out about the Texas memo.. Miguel is a queer person so he should have understood that coming out is a very personal decision.. I am not gay but I have friends who are and they mulled over the decision to come out on their own terms
😊 Calm down. Somebody had to find out so Henry could find the courage to live openly and happily. Besides, it just a movie and I love the actor who played Miguel.
To say that I truly wanted to turn that "journalist" into my personal punching bag is quite the understatement! I really hate those that believe they're holier than thou! I can't stand it! Gotta give to the other journalists for throwing real shade! 😂
This film is a real breath of fresh air. The gay romance within is told so naturally. The storyline is not too much. And I really liked the acting of the two main characters.❤
they did a really good job with this scene. being outed is such a horrible, gut-wrenching feeling - i can't even imagine how it would feel to be outed to the ENTIRE WORLD. amazing acting by the both of them
Perez and Galitzine are wonderful in this film. Much has been said about their chemistry, which is palpable. But neither actor has shown as much heart or honesty in their other work. The difference is the sensitivity of the creative team. Director Matthew Lopez and cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt give them a glowing jewel box to inhabit. With the addition of the intimacy coordinator, Robbie Taylor Hunt, the intensity of Alex and Henry"s relationship materializes on screen. You sense that there was pride and love coming from all departments and that that provided a platform which allowed the two lead actors to become two lead characters that make us laugh and cry and love them. Cynics have attacked the film for not being what they want or think it should be, but that is short-sighted. The achievement of RW&RB is that it is completely what it sets out to be -- a smiling act of hope and love.
I absolutely disagree, the film worked above all for the chemistry and friendship born immediately between Nicholas and Taylor (I would like to remind you that Nicholas DID want him and NOT OTHER Taylors. I'm furious with the director who allowed himself to cut important scenes : the one with the ice cream, the one with the breakfast together after Alex immediately went to "pick up" Henry in London and ESPECIALLY the one with the VERY IMPORTANT conversation in front of the bonfire in Alex's holiday home in Texas!!! The perfection of that "monologue" of Nicholas, his expressions, his looks, everything absolutely perfect....a crazy, unrepeatable emotion when he takes Alex's hands, caresses them and continues to speak (and it was also IMPORTANT for the words he says which are repeated by Alex to London to make him give up and convince him that he can be LOVED and LOVE) an ABSOLUTE LACK of respect towards Nicholas and towards us. While I have nothing to say about the "intimacy coordinator even if you CANNOT "teach certain looks". Make them last the film 3/5 minutes longer even 10 certainly would not have ruined Amazon Studios (which also produced 3 hour films.) And I can't stand his ridiculous excuses: "the bonfire scene ACCORDING TO HIM would have slowed down the pace of the film ": in fact, just published on Twitter (X) in less than 24 hours, it had 1 million 660,000 views.!!!! Yes, there needed to be a cut in the film, ABSOLUTELY: THE DIRECTOR'S ONE!!! 😡😡😡😡😡
