Thank you for being honest and coming on here and saying this. Also, I’m an RN and I am absolutely appalled that this girl is trying to sue the hospital after she obviously threw that unwanted baby in the garbage like trash. And now those nurses are going to have their careers and everything uprooted and have to go testify in a high profile case all because a selfish little girl was afraid of her mom and killed her unwanted child. Behavioral pharmacologist here. You're wrong about morphine and every other opiate synthesized from morphine. It's a known teratogen when given frequently that easily crosses the placental barrier and the fact that it was given to her prior to them establishing what was causing her symptoms AND immediately prior to delivery (not the early stages of labor where it's recommended) is an INSTANT defense and at least plausible causal element as to way the baby maybe came into the world stillborn. Also, as a "medical professional" it behooves you to suppress your highly emotional reaction and see entire context of the story. The hospital bears all the responsibility of what happened as not only did they violate HIPA laws, they inappropriately medicated someone in advanced labor.
@tlcetc4506
@tlcetc4506 Год назад
@@drewdamore9419I have been trying to point some of this out, people just can't critically analyze past their reactions to her and her mother- which I think the hospital staff allowed to happen with themselves and their decisions as well. Those drugs cause respiratory depression which could have caused her to think he wasn't breathing, but they should have known yet not only delayed even attempting resuscitation but didn't even try and caused her to miss symptoms of labor that they should not have while they hadn't told her the test results yet either.
@skywithdiamonds
@skywithdiamonds Год назад
@@tlcetc4506the hospital completed the urine test which only indicates if a woman is pregnant, but not how far along. That test has also been known to give a false positive. The girl and her mother insisted she was a virgin and could not possibly be pregnant. The staff was waiting for results of the hCG blood test which would give information on how far along the pregnancy was. So how could the hospital know she was in advanced labor when the bloodwork wasn't finished and the patient kept lying and misleading everyone? She also *refused* a physical exam which might have given indication of advanced labor. What was the hospital to do, force a vaginal exam on her? Can't do that.

@@macysondheimControlling pain to keep it at a tolerable level is essential to every patient's good health as well as the health of an unborn child. When pain is not well controlled, the adverse effects can be significant. Blood pressure, for example, typically rises quickly when patients suffer pain. High blood pressure adversely affects a baby, and can even lead to premature labor. As in any situation, the benefits of treatment must be weighed against any anticipated side effects before the treatment is undertaken, and patients should be continually monitored to ensure the treatment provides a continuing net benefit. Even when the cause of pain has not been clearly identified (which is common in the ER until tests and/surgery, etc., have been performed), it is important to adequately treat pain.

It’s all good Peter 🙌🏼 FYI-when I was 7 months pregnant with my first child I woke up one morning with excruciating pain on my right side right around my appendix-guess what my appendix was about to erupt! When I got to ER they ran some tests then rushed me to emergency surgery-I had to sign a stack of legal papers and they told me if I happen to go into labor during surgery which was a possibility don’t panic if I wake up and I’m not pregnant anymore. I was in surgery about 2 hours obviously under heavy sedation, I woke up still pregnant and in horrible pain-they gave me morphine and assured me it was not going to harm the baby-especially being that far along in my pregnancy. I was kept for 3 days just to be monitored, sent home with pain pills. I gave birth right on time/2 months later to a very healthy baby boy (he’s now 26!) I’m sure I was given 100x the amount of drugs she was-Their claim that the hospital caused the baby’s death is absolute BS! He’s only deceased because she put him in the trashcan then covered him with a liner which caused him to suffocate!

Thank you for being so upfront and honest about your mistakes. To me, it definitely came across as an honest mistake. But I have never given birth, so I definitely don’t feel like it’s my place to tell the women who have whether or not they should be angry. Also, literally everyone makes mistakes. The thing that matters (and what sets you apart) is that you admit your mistakes, apologize when necessary, and then learn from it. The fact that you felt so badly about this, to the point that you started a live this late truly shows how good of a heart you have. Always happy to hear your insight!

You’re forgiven. This girl is very young and immature, but she had 9 months to grow up and take responsibility for her life and her child. Young men go to war at her age and step up to the plate and act like adults. What she did to her baby was despicable. The autopsy says the baby was suffocated.

You’re a very good attorney, I knew someone you know would tell you your mistake. It’s only a mistake, happens to the best of us. I love that you had to make this video! I still believe Alexee Travisos attorney won’t convince a jury that she “lost” a baby, especially since neither she nor her mother asked about that baby one time during any of those bodycam videos. And I believe her quitting birth control and starting prescription diet pills and working out for cheerleading so vigorously, she was trying to end the pregnancy. That’s how it looks to me. Thanks Peter, I hope you sleep well!

You were right in saying that morphine can slow heart beat of the baby. Morphine is usually used in the early stages of labor. If used too close to delivery, it can cause temporary breathing and heart rate problems in your baby after birth. Your baby may need help breathing if this happens. Ref: Dr. Sara E. Petruska Pain control during childbirth is not a simple thing. Many variables. But generally speaking, the more natural the childbirth (without epidurals etc, morphine etc.) the better it is for the health and survival of the baby.
@googleuser2226

You know what else causes breathing problems in a baby? Putting it in a plastic trash bag, tying it, then putting it in the garbage and putting another bag of garbage on top of it.

100% your integrity shines through, Peter!💜 Interesting, even though as a mother and for other reasons, I knew your understanding about morphine and pregnancy was strongly worded, it did NOT come across as more than an opinion, to me. You've built enough credibility I laughed it off and carried on with my day. Also, having worked in the legal field, it's 100% true a medical expert will be willing to state whichever opinion is needed to support the side he's/she's paid to support. I believe this case is in NM, and if correct, I guarantee there will be an expert for the Plaintiff in the civil case. Appreciate your straight up honesty, your willingness to dig a bit deeper re the medical aspect, ALL the effort and energy in running a YT channel while being a husband, dad, friend, and a practicing attorney! I truly pray what comments you received were worded as constructive criticism, although I suspect not all were worded as such. It saddens me that the rush to tear down or target negatively is still too slow in changing into open dialogue between fallible humans....which we ALL are at the end of the day. We all have opinions and less tolerance for acknowledging them it seems to me. Rush to judge/judgement does seem to be the new norm these days, along with less kindness when doing so. Sending Many Blessings for you!🙏💜

I'm very interested in this case and if I've learned anything it's to wait for all the information before deciding. Also, a lawsuit coming up has my interest. Mala Kowalski was medically kidnapped according to the lawsuit and her mother committed suicide after accusations were made against her, all untrue. Mala is suing for all of this and the fact that her specialist who had treated her previously for this rare disease was ignored and she was left in pain and untreated for months. I'd love your take on this too.
