Here's Alice Cooper and the band on hometown TV show "Detroit Tubeworks" in 1971 doing their huge hit "Eighteen." We found the master tapes of over 11 hours from this legendary show which had been stored in a basement in Michigan. Other great guests we found on this underground show from 1968-1973 include MC5, Ted Nugent, Phil Ochs, Commander Cody, Captain Beefheart, Earth, Wind & Fire, Humble Pie, Fleetwood Mac featuring Peter Green and Joe Cocker. Also part of this archive is a 45-minute unseen concert of the Rolling Stones filmed at Olympia Stadium in Detroit on their 1969 tour.
Reelin' In The Years Productions houses the world's largest library of music footage, containing over 20,000 hours of material covering nearly every genre from the last 60 years. We have live concerts, TV appearances, interviews, in-studio segments, b-roll and more. In addition to music we have thousands of hours of interviews with the most recognizable celebrities, comedians, politicians, athletes, artists and authors of the 20th Century. If you need footage for your film, documentary, TV show, commercial, museum exhibit or presentation, we are your one-stop shop. Visit our online database at www.reelininthe... to explore our archive, but please email us as we are constantly adding new material to the archive. We do not supply material to fans or collectors under any circumstance, so please do not contact us if that is your intention. If you own a television show with music footage or filmed home movies or video of musical artists, we might be interested in representing your footage for licensing. Please contact us through our website reelinintheyear... to discuss doing business together.

I saw these guys in 1969 in Eugene, Oregon. A whole day worth of hippie bands, and then these guys got up. The Doors closed that night, but Cooper's the one that stuck in memory. He sang the Sunday funnies. He sang a song through a door. Nobody in the audience knew what hit them. A few months later at a record store in Portland I heard Sun Arise blasting over the store's speakers. Bought the album on the spot.

Thank you You Tube! This was the year I first saw Alice. It was 1971, Gaelic Park, Bronx, NY. Alice was opening for Black Sabbath (touring to promote their second album Paranoid). The announcer said something like "straight from being kicked out of San Francisco, ladies and gentlemen, Alice Cooper"! The rest is history. Alice was unreal. I was only 16 and couldn't wait to be 18 so I could sing this song with meaning! Brought the house down. Nobody ever saw a "show" before. Alice put on a show. When he did the Ballad of Dwight Frye he ran around in a straight jacket. Unbelievable! We wouldn't let him get off the stage! Ozzy wanted to come on but we wanted more Alice!! Ran out and bought Love it to Death. I remember opening the album and just staring at the Alice's eyes! Been a die hard fan ever since!

I mean this is fantastic as well but i just think that Alice Cooper post 1975 is underrated, this original band has had its reunions n things but it doesn't take away the good talent from sessions members and touring personell that has written and played on the other albums since, and i think for Beeing the only guy that kept this crazy show going ever since then he's put so much love and craftsmanship in the liveshows while keeping things running having some of the original banc come back every now and then to do some music, and that's just healthy some of these og members weren't cut out for the road and that's okay doesn't take away their musical talent in the studio or the song writing.
@allbottledup9513
@allbottledup9513 Год назад
@@chrisjenkins5846 He was a great lead singer, he just wasn’t traditional. He had a wonderful voice, but nothing like Marriott. Marriott had a real classic soulful voice. He was closer to Daltrey out of anybody from that time. I do think Daltrey was the best out of the 60’s-70’s singers though, so Alice wasn’t quite on the same level. Not the most traditional either but an unmatched power, the only ones who came close in my opinion were Marriott, Rodgers, and Mercury.

My AC experience in Toledo was not so great. Drove 150 miles through a blinding snowstorm on a cold Friday the 13th in December 1973. The "Holiday Tour" it was called; Muscle of Love album was just released. ZZ Top opened (their only hit at the time was "La Grange," it was a hostile standing room only crowd at the Toledo Sports Arena. M80s and beer bottles flying everywhere. Cooper comes out and they open with "Hello Hurray." During the second song, someone hits a band member with a bottle. Concert immediately stops, band exits, bassist Dennis Dunaway cries, "And we came here just to have a good time!" House lights come on, everyone wondering when/if they are going to continue the show. Finally, after about a half hour, the announcement came that the show is over. (They waited that long to inform the crowd while they surrounded the arena with riot squad cops.) No refunds. (BTW back then, the ticket was $6.50, which today won't cover half of the service charge) It was a long, sad ride home in the piled-up snow. This incident is documented in the book, "Billion Dollar Baby" by columnist Bob Greene, who was traveling with the brief tour. So that was the last time I got to see the original AC band. Thanks for fookin memories Toledo! (Been to see the Coop several times in Dayton, where at least they are civilized.)

On that same night, NYE 1973, I was 16 and hitch hiked 50 miles north up to Winterland in San Francisco to see Santana headlining with Journey (their first concert ever ) and Herbie Hancock opening for them. It was very rowdy there too, lots of fights, and was a cold and rainy night too.

Alice is SO BEAUTIFUL here. I love this man so much. Check out “ Is It My Body “ extended version, from the same taping . You will get to see Alice strip down into a pink leotard, and be sleazy. Just ONE more reason to love him.
