Personally I've never understood the general dislike for Sonny Burch in AMatW; Walton Goggins played him like a sleazy underworld version of Justin Hammer, and he was easily more fun, charismatic and memorable than some of the more generic main villains. I certainly still wouldn't rank him TOO highly (after all, he's still just a bit of a chump) but he probably breaks into my top 20

Sean i think you forgot Loki's father. When i got towards the end and hadn't seen him yet i was like "huh didn't know Sean liked Laufey so much".

Wenwu is played with perfection by Legendary Tony Leung. I heard somewhere that he himself contributed something to the charecter's backstory.

I feel like Taskmaster will eventually come back as the Anthony Masters we all know and love, same case as the Mandarin because I think having the real one as a recurring villain in the MCU would be great for the avengers.

Besides Loki, Wenwu is easily the most human out of all of these villains.

As a villain, Thanos takes #1, but I think from a complete character point of view, Loki is better

In my opinion, ghost is a really underrated villain. She has an understandable motivation and I think that boosts her on my list.

If the Netflix shows were included, I can easily see Killgrave and Kingpin making their way into the top 5

Zemo is my number one favourite villain. He destroyed the avengers with just his brain. And because of that, Thanos won.

The mandarin is now one of my favorite mcu villains he’s just a straight badass

I just watched Shang-Chi yesterday. Wenwu is definitely one of my favorite MCU villains now. He was extremely intemidating when using the rings

Recently the villains have kind of sucked. Dreykov, Karli, Taskmaster and Power broker have probably been 4 of if not the 4 worst. Agatha was ok and Wenwu was pretty good

I’ve been looking forward to this video! The MCU’s given us such a wide variety of villains from Thanos to Malekith, so it’s definitely a harder one to rank.

Not wanting to be rude, but through your channel years you said that malekith is forgettable so many times that at this point he’s unforgettable for being forgettable 😂

I don’t think Sharon carter is a villain. I think she’s an anti-hero. She helped the protagonist in their quest, but also helped the villains. She’s stuck in the middle playing the Everyman, to play for herself. Which makes sense but i don’t think that makes her a villain.

The weird thing about Mysterio’s plan is that he absolutely could’ve just been a superhero for real once he had the E.D.I.T.H. technology, so there was really no need to attack London as opposed to disposing of Peter and his friends quietly and off the radar.

I loved the Trevor Slattery Mandarin twist, it made sense and was incredibly executed, and now we have a proper Mandarin so there's no excuse to hate him

Killmonger is #1 for me. He's such a badass you spend the entire movie forgetting he's basically a regular guy with no powers. All of his actions have MAJOR ramifications and nobody consistently raised the stakes the way he did.

I have always preferred villains than heroes. That's why Joker Darth Vader and Dr Doom are my favorite villains of all time

I did this ranking a few days ago for myself too, but since i have watched Agents of Shield, i have added those villains too. One of them even cracked my top 5!

The fact that Thanos is almost everybody's top 1 villain of the MCU proves that he's inevitable 😍

I like that Wenwu (I’m sorry if I spelled it wrong) is so high. I think he got a lot of well deserved screen time. We see him go into a bit of an insane arc. And I like how they did a similar thing that they did with John Walker by not giving him a full face turn but doing enough to make his actions impactful when he died.

I was gonna come here to watch a ranking video, but I saw that Get Up Kids shirt and I already like you. One of my favorite bands.

Thanos, Vulture and Killmonger are top 3 for me, haven't gotten to see Shang-Chi yet though

Super solid list here, and I'm pretty happy to see Wenwu so high on it. I was pleasantly surprised by his character, and the film as a whole. The tragedy of his life, mixed with his ruthless fighting, up till his final moments, all of it was super well done in my opinion. For my top 10, a lot of similar choices, for pretty similar reasons: 1. Thanos - Menacing, but also believes his way is the only way and the right way to do things. Doesn't necessarily want to kill, but believes it's the right thing to do to ensure the rest of all life can survive. Pretty obvious number 1 imo 2. Loki - Again, no surprise. His character is so complex, and has had great redemptions and betrayals through his story. He deeply cares for the ones he loves, but do to his inner insecurities, he puts on a confident personality and is willing to do what it takes to be praised 3. Wenwu - I pretty much explained it above, but it is a huge example of what tragedy could drive a person to do. Especially when given even a strand of hope, he does what he believes is right, just so he can hopefully see the only love of his life once more. Again, was pleasantly surprised by this character 4. Vulture - Was pretty surprised with what they were able to do with this character as he seemed pretty goofy in the comics. A family man, who just wants to be provide for them, unfortunately, by any means necessary. Like, attempting to murder a 15 year old on several occasions for example. He wasn't the biggest threat out there, but he was a damn good villain 5. Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch - I know she's a hero most of the time, but she is another great example of the pain that comes from tragedy. She lost her brother, had to kill the love of her life, only to see said love brought back to life, just to get killed again in a much more violent way. Unfortunately, holding an entire town hostage and mentally torturing them isn't the best thing to do if you want a relatively normal life 6. Wilson Fisk/Kingpin - While I don't remember if the Netflix series are canon, Fisk is probably the greatest villain of the Netflix bunch. He always seems to have the upper hand on everyone, and seems to have control of almost everything too. He is not only a physically tough opponent, but arguably even stronger mentally, hence the name Kingpin. Another example of not the biggest threat, but an amazing character in one of the best shows I've seen in quite some time. 7. Killmonger - I feel like I'm gonna get hate for not having him top 5. I could even argue my 8th above him, but that's because of how much I like my 8th place. I stil like Killmonger a lot though, I just happen to enjoy the aforementioned 6 characters more. He proved to be a threatening rival physically and even beat him badly in their first encounter. He left an impact on our hero, even after his death, even though his final fight may have not had the best CGI lol. 8. Mysterio - While I understand Sean's criticisms, I really love this character. Another goofy Spider-Man villain, that the MCU knocked out of the park. Peter just lost Tony, so he takes advantage of this kid who has lost so much already. He's got the charisma, but is also totally unhinged. He tries to fill the roll of the father figure and the perfect hero, just to betray him. He's very unhinged, and while he lost the battle, he won the war in revealing Peter's identity to the world 9. Baron Zemo - This character is the definition of brain over brawn. He has everything meticulously planned out and forced these heroes and great, but flawed people to turn on eachother. He also had great dance moves, so that's a pretty big plus 10. Winter Soldier - Again, another case where he's a hero now, but he had a rather dark past. Despite his vicious nature, brutal fighting, and the fact that he's practically a living weapon, he still was Steve's best friend. Someone who values honor above all, and he believes his best friend is still in there, he couldn't just kill him. He had to find a way to bring him back, and that's what not only gave Bucky a great start for his character, but why this movie works so well and is one of my favorites

Personally my favourite villain is wenwu, such an awesome villain who wasn’t dull yet too emotional, and part of an incredible movie.

I know this is an old-ish video, but I just now watched it and love that you included Agent Flynn as the top half of the list, the same actor who said in a much older movie, "Madison Hotels is a as good as MINE!". Also that you had Thanos as Numero Uno! He is so in-depth and believable as a villain. Not to mention they nailed it with his appearance and real-looking CGI. Thanks for this, Sean!!

So I watched all of Loki and I’m surprised that Renslayer doesn’t even get a mention. She was to me the villain throughout the whole thing

O my goodness Agatha is one of the beat mcu villain I love that woman.

Grant Ward from Agents of SHIELD is the best in my opinion. He was part of the main 6, and he turned out to be Hydra. But he wasn't with Hydra because he was evil, but because he was manipulated by Garett while in a bad spot. He's horrible, but he's an amazing villain.

If Netflix's Marvel shows were also included, then Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) must had been in top 3.

Well honestly my top 10 would have to have Mysterio, Thanos, Wenwu, Loki, Zemo, Ultron, Winter Soldier, Hela, Ghost and Vulture

Awesome list. I had totally forgotten Karli Morgenthau even existed. Now that you also ranked every single Disney film, would you mind ranking the Disney villains?

My top 5: 1. Zemo Zemo just brings this electric charisma to the role that makes me want to both root for and against him. 2. Thanos Big purple space man 3. Mandarin/Wenwu He's fantastic in the role, if you haven't seen Shang-Chi, please do. 4. John Walker He brings that manic energy to the role in certain scenes, while grounding the character in others and all having it feel like one person. 5. Kang/He Who Remains From what we've seen so far, Kang is definetley set to climb this list even higher. Bottom 5: 1. Malekith No charisma, No interesting design or interesting motivation. Just a bland blob of a villian. 2. Ronin A slightly better Malekith 3. Taskmaster God I hope she gets a personality if she ever turns up again. 4. Obidiah Stane Boring villain with a boring fight scene. 5. Whiplash Has some cool fight scenes and an interesting personality but he's given literally nothing to do in the film.

5 things i liked about Malekith, I’ll try even if these might not be good enough reasons(I am not a fan of him either but to me I don’t think he’s trash) 1. Had a cool knife fight and took out 3 asgardians 2. Had a pretty cool voice in his language 3. Was a decent threat 4. The final fight with him is one of my favorites in the MCU, love the teleporting sequence. 5. Love the dark red visuals surrounding around him near the end If Eccleston was given more to do and played the comic accurate version of him I would of liked him a lot. I heard he would return as Malekith if Taika Waititi is involved but also heard he hated his role so much that it’s very unlikely(also Malekith is dead unless of course he’s revived or there’s another variant of him).

My theory for mysterio to return in no way home the drones made it look like he died because he still had control of the drones then he starts reading about how doctor strange recovered from his car crash and is fine so he seeks out the wizard place to heal and then learns sorcery and uses it for attacks and illusions . So now he’s like his comic version

I do think Wendy/Mandarin is one of few villains that one would wish to be their father. So compelling, and he went from being a warlord to trying to put it behind him as he raised a family (with out a master plan behind it like Azulon’s plan in the Atla series and comics). Great guy, but his history for being a warlord for 990 yrs before being a father would be a turn off. That being said that transition from happy family man to being a warlord again because he lost the love of his life, I feel for it. One can’t set their own history behind them, obviously, but the fact he tried is commendable.

Wenwu just seemed different. Cold hearted and evil, but he was a proud father. Such an interesting character, so happy the mandarin was done well after previous mishaps - Kingsley’s Bin Laden style Mandarin would’ve been interesting, Pierce’s flame extremis Mandarin was odd, but Tony Leung is just a different breed.

I thought Ghost was a cool character in ant man 2, I'm a sucker for villains that have a bit of humanity to them and I felt for Ghost's plight but Thanos will always be number one for me, he has a bit of everything, intimidating, powerful, and empathetic who has an understandable reason for wanting to wipe out half the universe!

Wanting to know- will you at some point include heroes/villains from the what if series in the future ranking videos? Just wondering cause that would be awesome to include the different versions for strange and Thanos!!!

Maybe next time you could include Laufey from Thor, Kurse from Thor: The Dark World, the Grandmaster from Thor: Ragnarok, and Renslayer from Loki. I felt like those were kinda missing. Also I feel like John Walker for now should be on this list instead of the heroes. Great list tho

I wish they would have given shocker a comic accurate costume, that would have made the action sequence more interesting

An awesome way to revive taskmaster like how they revived the Mandarin was to make a post credit scene for black widow where they reveal that General Dreykov survived and was in a hospital, and the real taskmaster shows up and kills him for using his name and costume which could lead to a future confrontation between the real taskmaster and Yelena. The real taskmaster could have been like a variant of the super soldier serum and he was either a soldier in World War 2 or maybe a mercenary that was retired but returned to seek revenge after seeing someone using him name and costume.

Wenwu and Thanos are my personal favorite. They are the only two villains, where during their movies I was rooting for them instead of for the heroes.

Zemo is my favorite villain because he has a genuine motivation as well as a great plan to destroy the avengers from the inside and introduced us to a concept that the bad guys can actually win with him succeeding in his efforts to spilt the group.

I think Ravonna Renslayer and/or Miss Minutes should have been in this list, as well as Death Dealer from Shang-Chi.

I can't wait until we get galactus in the MCU if we ever do. I'd love to see him be the next villain to get a huge arc like Thanos did

Couldn't you have put Nebula on the villain list for the same reason you put Winter Soldier? Personally, I'd rank Surtur much higher and Whiplash much lower. I wish they had shown the Supreme Intelligence like in the comics; a big blob. And where was Thunderbolt Ross? And Grandmaster? Don't understand how you link Zemo with Thanos. Am I missing something? What a cast of A+ List acting talent on the list! Great list as always! Thanks!
