People can be kinda cringe. They see someone lift 500kg, something that really shouldn’t be possible yet people manage it anyways, and instead of thinking “that’s impressive” they think “one man did a different lift, that’s cringe, I should flame them in the comments”. Like, who cares? It’s not as if this video is an official list with important parameters, it’s just a compilation of heavy deadlifts, I’d like to see you lift 500kg if you think it’s so easy

@@M1tjakaramazov you say it isn’t just a compilation of heavy deadlifts, but I look at the title of the video and it says “all 500kg deadlift attempts” which means it’s a compilation of all the 500kg deadlift attempts this guy has found. @@kirayoshikage1491 "It’s not as if this video is an official list with important parameters, it’s just a compilation of heavy deadlifts". Literally your own words. You then try to obfuscate the issue when I point out it very much is a list of something specific by referring to the title which states it's a video about a specific achievements. Not only is it a clumpsy attempt at goal-post moving, it's contradictory as well. And none of it disputes the reasons some people don't consider the sumo deadlift a proper execution.

@@richardthomas3697 that’s pretty hard to say though considering it was in competition, and there were other guys that tried to lift that weight that couldn’t even budge it, plus Eddie Hall trained for that for a whole year I think, and he pulled 420 and 460 off the ground like it was nothing

Maybe the other competitors were lied to and it was only 480/485, Eddie took almost a half hour rest between his lifts so the others had cooled off too much and struggled with the lifts. Two guys around 105-110kg bodyweight have pulled 500+ sumo and raw compared to two guys both over 200kg bodyweight pulling 500+ conventional with suits. The record in every weight class except 90kg is sumo, and the only reason the 90kg record is conventional is because it's John Haack, 2nd and 3rd place records are both sumo. Thor's 501 was sanctioned by WUS and was a stand-alone lift akin to Rogue's Record Breakers. Eddie's 500 actually had less strict rules and cannot be called a true "competition." Eddie brought his own lifting platform and used his own bar. Eddie, as an athlete dictated what the weight jumps would be, which angered other strongmen lifting, including Shaw. Eddie, again as an athlete participating in this show, dictated his own rest times and came out whenever he felt like it, instead of after a set time. Jerry even complained about this stating that Eddie got as much rest as he wanted but the rest of the athletes were told when to come out to lift. Jerry credited his injury to this, stating that Eddie took so long that he cooled down too much from his prior attempt. In no way should an athlete in a legit competition have this much special treatment. Meanwhile, Thor had to follow strict timing between his lifts and was told when he had to come out and how much time he had on the platform. Thor used brand new equipment from Rogue, with each plate being weighed and verified by Magnus and Big Z via zoom. For all intents and purposes, Thor's attempt was closer to a properly regulated competition than Eddie's was.

Out of all the sports I would say they serve all the respect and it is very much underrated, you can be good at a sport activity with the aids of talent and gene but in strongman or powerlifting whatever you call it it’s more about the dedication, sheer mind power and extreme discipline. Both are impressive, but when you see how much higher the bar goes during a conventional deadlift, its difficult sometimes to compare the 500-502kg sumo deads to real conventional, yet it seems to drive people crazy about ROM during a powerlifting bench, but seemingly not an issue with sumo deads, lol.
@dutchlane2681
@dutchlane2681 5 месяцев назад
its not even about range of motion entirely, deadlift is fundamentally a hip hinge movement, but by going sumo, you can basically get into a stance where your torso is vertical before the lift even starts which turns it into something like a reverse squat. if you want to do sumo deadlift because it focuses glutes more than traditional, fine, and if people want to compete to see who can lift the heaviest sumo, go ahead, but to act like sumo and traditional are the same lift is ridiculous and clearly not true. There's a reason we care so much about the big 3, and its because they all are lifts that work fundamentally different parts of our body in order to build balanced overall strength, if you swap deadlift out for sumo, then your effectively removing one third of the equation. This is why sumo isn't as respected as traditional deadlift, and never will be.

EDDIE done his 500KG IN "COMPETITION" what part of that do you not understand. Thor done his 501KG at home. Even if we give thor the record, it's still not THE OFFICIAL WR because it was not done in competition. Eddies 500KG will always be considered the WR because of this undeniable fact, not counting that it was also HISTORY in the making and put Eddie at Legend status for all time. Eddies will always be considered the greatest feat of strength and the crowd on that day made it electric.
