These were really common in Atlantic Canada, I remember places like Midnight Video and corner stores having this up till the mid 90's. Seems like a lot of my friends had this one growing up.
I remember all the hype here in Canada during the Christmas season of 1989 about this 31 in 1 cartridge.I had borrowed it a few times from various friends and it was actually unheard of for that time to have that many games all on one cartridge,so the concept actually was a novelty for us kids.
Mad, who me? no i'm mad i mean who's mad, how can i be mad when i bought a video game console that has circus charlie in under 5000 !@#$%^ different names I'M FINE!
I probably had this or a similar cart when I was a child since I've remembered all these games. In fact most of my NES cartridges were multi-carts since NES was never sold in my country the only way to play was those carts.
Haha! Good Ole days! I am from India and we only got FAMICOM clones here! So I grew up playing all those Japanese games. And it was common to have multiple games on a cart. Like 64 in 1, 76 in 1, 240 in 1, 36 in 1 and not to forget the Legendary 9999999 in 1!
+nhs2008NC I'm from Dubai, and we have famiclones here (I think I've seen a few, but they're not too common.) Most of them are original games from Japan. I wonder how Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania III internationally) will sound on a famiclone.
I am also Indian I grew up with the same clones and multi cards that time I don't know they are pirated things , but now I am feeling sad why we got clone systems instead of original and I never played SNES and genesis I am feeling so sad bro why it happened like this
I remember downloading a rom of a similar cartridge a long time ago, only the one I had was a 72-in-1 and it had a really nice menu system that was divided into pages. Along with the typical early NES games it also had some really cool Famicom exclusive stuff. Even though it may seem kind of pointess to use an emulator for a multicart since you can easily get the games individually, I did discover some pretty neat stuff I would've overlooked otherwise.
love your videos! You can tell you really research your vids well and put a ton of effort into them, this stuff is tv worthy! keep it up, im subscribed
There not actually 99999999999 games, they probably are just 7-20 games repeated over and over and over again maybe with slight color palette variations.
I remember Karateka for the Apple IIe back in the 80s. In the Normal stance you can also bow to your opponent (by pressing "b") but make sure to resume the fight stance or you'll be one-shotted.
Fun Fact. In East Europe there was no nintendo of famicon. We got "Pegasus" wich was pirated version of Famicon. It was issued with 999 in 1 cardridge wich cointained all classsic nes games + those presented here. Some with changed names for example "Galaga" was "Galaxian" and battle city was simply called "Tanks"
Great job, guys! I'm really glad your work is getting featured on our site. :) You definitely make these cute but informative -- they come across as well-informed and are educational, but not too stiff as to be boring. At the same time, you don't run in the opposite direction and slather it with snark and wit, which can drown out the educational aspect of it. Very interesting stuff, too, I had no idea about this stuff... Monkey Island music at the beginning was a great touch.
im actually never knew about the fuzzy snow monsters in ice climbers until melee in 2001 because when i was a kid i played that game on one of those pirated game
Really cool video. Here in Hungary, there was a time when these pirated famicom cartridges and systems were everywhere here, so I more or less know these guys. I love your videos, keep them coming! Oh, by the way, your voice is the cutest ever :)
You're pretty, you've a nice voice and described perfectly what we felt playing those pirated games 22 years ago...thanks for making me revive my childhood.
My childhood was marked with my 52 and 20 in one cartridge, they had the original titles of the games, by the way I didn't know that in Ice climber the seals where changed...The wiorld where I grow up, it doesn't exist anymore
I remembered all about this game as soon as i heard the menu song. I played this alot when i was younger. I've been looking for this game for a while and i finally found it last saturday. Tho mine isnt a famicom format cartridge. Its a regular NES format.
Karateka, battle city... god OLD games with LONG time i didn't see them. Im 17, so I BARELY played the old consoles.. i was a fool kid :( its good to remember them. Subscribed! :D
This was a really awesome review! I loved the tid-bit about the seals... I had no idea that they were actually fuzzy monsters for the official version! It sounds like these carts were popular in the Canadian maritimes which is kind of cool because my copy found its way here in Saskatchewan :)
"Various computer systems in North America." (meanwhile pictures of ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC464, two BRITISH computers, are shown. Neither was released in America, although Timex released a partially compatible, enhanced Spectrum clone)
fantastic. interesting and informative. I had a pirated gameboy 30-in-1 and it had ports of some of these japan-only games. It kept me entertained for years. :)
When I was a kid I had a 56 in 1 Gameboy game. It was awesome! There were 5 homebrew games on it that were actually pretty good, and a lot of other games I (or anyone else I know) ever heard of that I actually found good! (Dragon Slayer 1 was my favorite)
Its from east europe. Back in days those were cheap (Abaut 2 dollars) and you could get it anywhere. Now you would require to digging buth still propably can get em cheap so no its not rare.
My favorites were the tank game (can't believe that wasn't released as it's own game, it's SO GOOD) and the circus game. There were no games where you could ride on an animal on the nes, so that was a really new thing back then. I had no idea there was an ice climber without the silly seals, they didn't die they just waddled home 😂 Love love love this game sm
zomg what a nostalgia,i know i saw that clown wich rides lion and jumps in fire circles somewhere, then it comes to me that i as a little kid had a pirated genesis (it was called terminator and it had a nes in a genesis box so i tought i had sega genesis, after that i found out that that was nes :P) awesome video btw,i like the snake tongue joke xD
In fact you were able to get tons of those pirate famicom carts in latin america and some eastern europe countries back in the day. The best ones were the ones with 4 or 5 games because of the quality of each one (generally first class nes games such as TMNT, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden...)
The 31 in 1 was common was very common in Nova Scotia for some reason. I remember getting a copy in Halifax, nobody I know in Calgary even heard of it.
@RadE498 Yeah, later on they started bringing in these "computer entertainment systems" which had keyboard and mouse too and there were some office app things in there...I also had one. It also had a Printer port. greetings.
This game isn't only available as a Famicom cart with an adapter. I happen to own a of 31 in 1 as a 5 screw North American NES game with a converter inside like Gyromite or Baseball. It's much easier to get out of my NES. :P
I have a 191-in-1 nes pirated cart (actual NES multicart). the first 100 are all unique and contain many the games you mentioned on yours and more. The other set are variations that let you change levels and number of starting lives without using in-game codes. I'll take a pic of it if you want. and the game selection screen uses "booby Kids" too.
Might again i say, cutest voice ever. I had one exactly like this from hong kong. Was a super 102 in 1. Was made by some company named HoneyBee. I remember wondering what half of these games were.
