You really feel that 25% of the roster factoid when you're playing on Scarlet Blaze. Dorothea, Monica, Constance, Hapi, Manuela... and then Edelgard makes for a great Gremory herself. And then you gotta recruit Lysithea for the Paralogue. And Mercedes so she can be with her brother. And Marianne because, how could you possibly kill Marianne, you monster.
I never realised until now that gremory was in a way the opposite of mortal savant the latter has you using the class action to strengthen the strong attacks while the former uses strong attacks to strengthen the class action and speaking of class action, it can be powered up by elemental abilities when used with the right element (has an aditional 3 beams orbiting the central one), I had a lot of fun with ice essence marianne because it also powers up her unique ability
One interesting thing is that most of the Gremory's strong attacks seem to be a different magic art in the game. C2 is Excalibur. C3 is Fimbulvetr. C4 is Aura. C5 is Bolganone. C6 is Thoron, but without the beam. I believe this trend also holds true for the Warlock and Dark Bishop line as well, but with different spells.
I don’t think that one‘s Abraxas. It just seems like a generic magic explosion. Iirc, Abraxas is basically a pillar of light, similar to the Holy Knight‘s C4 I believe. The one where they create a pillar of light and then slash it (?)
@@NarrowSpark96 looked it up again. Abraxas is basically just a magic orbital strike. I guess that‘s sorta similar to their C1 then. But the rest of your analysis is spot on. Same thing also holds true for the Dark Bishop (?) class, just with a different array of spells
One of the reasons I wish this game had had DLC was so that we could get more master classes, and the units going down the Monk class line would have more than one option in the master class tier. Gremory and Dark Bishop are both good classes, but it gets kind of stale to just have the one option for tome-wielders.
On the topic of too many Gremorys, one that I deviated from that was Lysithea, who I made into a mortal savant. Between Thunderbrand, a skill that she can get to make all damage key off of her magic stat, and the general power of the mortal savant, she became exceptionally mighty.
I thought Swordmaster Lysithea was a dumb idea in Houses, but then I played Hopes... I can't imagine NOT making her a Thunderbrand Mortal Savant now, it's so strong.
I like how a good number of these magic users are better functioning in other roles. Lysithea as ppl mention can make a great Mortal Savant with prof. witstrike. Annette almost seems tailor made for Wyvern Lord as the only natural crest user for Crusher, Wyvern Lord offering the highest Str boost as adjutant and combined with her unique Rally Deluxe make a great backpack build, and Marianne being a good sword user with natural crest access to Blutgang and sword classes imo being better at racking up combos for her unique skill than gremory.
I wish the gremory class had the same natural feel as the warlock class does. The gremory attacks are just a little bit slow, and like you said, they look like they have small range even though that's not the case. But you can really wreck with a gremory when you need one. Also, I 100% agree with hooking up any gremory with a dark magic spell, because dark magic is just too powerful to go without. Even if a unit doesn't learn one naturally, just have Shez teach them Dark Spikes, and they're set. Sidenote: with Lysithea and Sothis, they both learn the innate ability Proficient Witstrike, which calculates all damage with the Mag stat. So you can really choose any class you like with them. I went mortal savant for both, which is extremely good for Sothis since she gains access to the Sublime Creator Sword. I even did a run through of the Gatekeeper Paralogue with Great Knight Sothis, which was EXTREMELY cursed, but she dealt out a ton of damage of course because of Proficient Witstrike. Also, if you really want to have a dedicated auxiliary healer, you can use Mercedes as a Holy Knight, since that class also has the White Magic+ ability, and you get more movement compared to the Bishop class. Anyway, way off track but gremory class fun.
I love this class a lot. I totally agree with it feeling slow compared to the Warlock class tho :( Still, Gremory Marianne was a great time, til I swapped her over to Dancer then later Assassin.
Hey random suggestion but the new sd gundam game is very much like a musou is it possible you could make content on them. Anyways, this game is so fun and the switch has such a great library jd hack and slash
Was just checking these guides, and as far as I can see you never did one for Warlock/Bishop (or Mercenary lol but who cares)? I feel like with how different Warlock/Bishop are, they probably do deserve a video - especially as I know there are some experienced players who feel Warlock > Gremory as a final class for female mages, the moveset generally seems to cover your options a bit better.
