I still think it's a little disappointing they didn't just make a Saria model and use this moveset for her, even if it is bad. It'd fit Saria very well

I've actually had really good results with Lana's C5. You're able to dash cancel it before she goes into the air, and the damage it does is *insane* if you are close enough to smack someone with both the leaf and gust of wind.

Such a shame, this weapon is so creative and had so much potential.

Out of Lana’s weapons the Spear is easily my favorite tbh. Her C5 can be dash cancelled immediately so that she doesnt go into her gliding state so C5 always the better option over C3 which is virtually useless in most cases. And C6 while having random hitboxes is an excellent choice against Boss Weakpoints since it gets rid of half of the gauge in a single combo. If you’re able to do it twice, she can easily break it. As far as I’m aware, the Spear is the only one of her three weapons that is guaranteed to break a boss weakpoint within a single cycle (without using Specials). Lana’s Spear is far from the best weapon in the game but it’s far from the worst too.

I find her C6 to be very useful. While not the most consistent move, I found that it can be made completely consistent based on the direction you're holding your stick duing the move. If you're holding it behind Lana, the Deku stumps will always do the zigzag pattern, holding forward does the roll, and holding to the side does the hops. It is verp precise though, so certain camera angles are next to impossible, but the fact that your stick input determines the direction that they travel is a really interesting and unique feature. This weapon is very underrated imo. Definitely not the worst water weapon; far better than both Impa's Giant Blade and Tetra.

This is actually one of my favourite weapons to use (Top 3) which makes me sad that it's not very good

Not gonna lie everytime I use the force special I always think "I'm gonna plant a tree on your face!" Lol

Eeeeee I know this is old but when using her C5 you can actually dodge cancel out of jump before gliding and after the projectile, I find this very useful to use as area damage, I also find her C6 as an amazing area clearer

The only redeeming thing about this kit is the great deku tree special attack is one of, if not the most damaging, specials in the game. Best stratagy with this is to use a special gauge potion spam until you get full gauges and then heard enemies and one shot kill them with her special. If you can get special+ on her weapon as well its even more powerful.

I never had any luck with her C3. It's thin and it carries anything that doesn't die in 1 hit far away so by the time I dashed to follow up they're out of stunlock. My strongest so far with Lana is with a 3 star 4+ spear and her level's in the 90's but it still doesn't kill.

Never a good sign when i have to check a guide just to make sure i haven't been misusing the weapon and it really is as bad as it feels. For me her C2 usually doesn't even land the explosion hit because the enemy gets knocked back too far too fast.

I probably wouldn't hate this weapon as much if it wasn't connected to Lana and thus competing with the Tome and Gate, among the two most fun weapons in the entire game for me personally. If they ever make HW2, item 1 on page 1 is to bring in Saria from OoT as a playable character and give this weapon to her (maybe also polish up the weapon's drawbacks while they're at it)

It’s a shame that the weapon is so terrible. The concept seemed so cool too.

Continuing my playthrough for Hyrule Warriors since a new one is coming out soon, find a mission where I'm forced to use this for the skulltula. Start thinking "wait, what's with this C1? What am I not getting?" and remember these guides. Turns out I wasn't missing something, it was just bad.

I'm still playing these games in 2024. I think Lana's Spear isn't that bad, especially if you have Hasty Attacks and Regular Attack+. Her BBBBY combo into air then Y again for a downward strike is a good crowd control (I use Zelda controls). I do revisit these videos every once in awhile to see if my feelings have changed because, after playing these games for years, I've learned the intricacies of most of the characters and weapons and I enjoy all of them now. (EXCEPT Lana Summoning Gate cause I can't figure out how that weapon can even work well)

Does hasty attacks make this weapon suck less?

I. Despise. This. THING. I hate how little range it has. I hate how enemies keep falling out of her C3. I hate how slow C4 is. I hate how pointless her C1 is. I still think Link's Great Fairy is worse, but this is by far my least favorite weapon.

Time to continue one of two best girls

Have any of you tried hasty attacks on the Deku Spear??? But seriously have you tried it??? You can actually destroy weak point gauges with some certain generals And maybe some certain bosses (I rarely use the C1 and C2 I use though C3 C4 for generals in weak point gauges due to multi damage I also use C5 as a line crowd control and finally I use the last C6 as a boss killer ) And true it's standard attacks is dull BUT WHEN YOU PUT HASTY ATTACKS HOWEVER... it's slightly like a Volga but less damage but hey I like barrage and multiti attacks. Sadly I don't have the game for the switch but I have it on Nintendo 3DS :c So I'm not really sure if it's the same game mechanics as it is with Nintendo switch with the Nintendo 3DS (please correct me if I'm right or wrong) but anyway That's my style on how to use the Deku Spear (btw I like at the start of the theme the Deku tribe theme)

Least favorite character warp gate is better.

Worst weapon in the game. Not as bad as the fire rod, which is even worse.
