I feel like what happened in the hilda a support was just an elaborate plan of holst to set balthus up with hilda. He knows the only person in the monastery that has a chance against balthus is balthus himself, so the only possible suitor for hilda is balthus.
Balthus seems like a nice combination of Caspar, Raphael and others. I didn't expect to like him this much. He's old enough to be mature enough to have lived through things and understand them. He's not young or immature and he knows that he's responsible for his own money problems. He doesn't blame anyone else for his troubles and accepts his faults. He's got that real world experience but still has enough youthful energy to be willing to play games or bets. And he's not stupid or naive: if he loses at a bet, it's because he overexerted himself and took on something against an opponent who was better. I definitely like his conversation with Yuri the most. But I like his conversation with Hapi too, where he admits that he's at fault for his own problems and she hasn't done anything to deserve her suffering. Very wise.
@@mummypigisdisappointed9985 I've seen all of his support with the other Ashen wolves. That's why I like him thus far. Maybe my perspective will change once I've seen the rest (with the Golden Deer and Byleth). But from what I've seen with the other wolves, that's why I like him thus far.
Yeah you would think he’d have a conversation with Manuela, Dorothea, Catherine, or Shamir, but he doesn’t. Hopefully if we ever get a definitive edition, a lot of characters get more supports
Even though I'm not much of a fan of Balthus' support with Claude, I do like how charming and unique he is towards the other characters, especially for Hapi, which I find to be my favorite.
@@dezlovecraft5247 I know I only want a gay option who doesnt look like a twink. I mean I like Lindhart and Yuri but I want some diferencie in the gay S supports. I actually married Lindhart on my Golden deer route.
I wonder how the other men who can get paired endings with Hilda would do it. I think Claude would pull out one of his special poisons and take him out (probably with very bad diarrhea). Caspar would likely engage him in a very long, protracted duel in which Balthus would give up on the last hit. He'd probably not challenge Seteth. As for the rest, I don't know.
Thank you for the upload! In my next playthrough I may pair Balthus with either Lysithea if he can help with her condition, or if he can't I may pair him with Hilda.
I find it interesting how each lord gets a unique conversation with an Ashen Wolve, Dimitri with Hapi, Edelgard with Constance, and Claude with Balthus. Though Edelgard and Constance support would have to be my least favorite of the 3. Still, Balthus is a good character imo.
Since you've seen the Constance/Edelgard support perhaps you can clear up some confusion I had with their C support. Spoilers I guess for those who still need to watch it: Why does Edelgard refuse to help Constance at first? Is it really something as petty as demanding information from Constance about her family beforehand? Because that's really spiteful if so and it makes Edelgard a bad leader. A true leader doesn't withhold aid unless their citizens hand over information first. That's an awful non leadership quality. If that's not the case, then why does Edelgard refuse to offer help until the B support, when Constance has already explained her secrets?
@@l.n.3372 Tbh, Edelgard is a pretty interesting character when it comes to other characters and crest. But in my personal opinion, I believe Edelgard didn't help until she knew about her family bloodline, being all pure and isolated from the other houses. And after hearing what has happened to her house, I think that's when Edelgard decides to help.
@@cucumbersandwich4459 That's what I assumed as well. But that's really petty and spiteful given that it's Edelgard role as emperor to help her citizens. They suffered because the imperial family didn't prevent a war vs Brigid and Dagda in advance. To refuse aid is an awful trait for a leader. And I'm surprised that Constance is forced to bend to Edelgard when Edelgard herself had the chance to be the better person and a good, compassionate leader without forcing her hand first.
@@l.n.3372 Not sure if I'm correct, but I believe she the reason why she didn't help at first was because she wanted to know more about House Nuvelle, as well as the Noa bloodline. During the B support, Constance explains how Saint Noa first secluded herself from the empire in hope of not bringing in any tragedy, the reason why it was passed off as the Macuil crest than the Noa crest. Though, they also explain about house Nuvelle not having close ties with other noble houses, disallowing marriages of other houses, in order to conceal the Noa crest. But because of weaker ties, Dagda would soon overthrow house Nuvelle, leaving Constance to be the only bearer of the crest of Noa. I suppose after Constance trusted Edelgard with her story, that would be when Edelgard decides to help Constance after she ascends the throne. Hope this helps.
@@alexanderkashtanoff7006 Yeah I totally understand. But that's my problem with Edelgard in that support. She shouldn't have to force Constance to reveal her secrets. Edelgard never reveals her own history to anyone but Hubert and Byleth. As leader, she should offer aid without conditions. That's selfish of a leader to demand information before they agree to help their people in need. How does that make her a good leader if she refuses help unless people can offer information in turn?
If Im not mistaken, I've seen a video where Balthus talks about how The Church made the mountains of Kupala a part of Church territory or whatever... So, he just says it with mostly the same wording but replacing some terms that coincide with the route you chose.
@@ghostin3274 It's kind of funny to see Claude react that way though because that's kind of how he acts. Particularly in his supports with Marianne and others, he's very nosey when it concerns other people's business. This is him kind of getting a taste of his own medicine.
@@MrSentinel07 Yeah, this is exactly why I like their support - Claude is a massive hypocrite when it comes to having his past exposed. It's the most apparent with Marianne, Flayn, and especially Byleth. He has a good reason for hiding his heritage, but in the end, a lot of the distrust surrounding him really ties to his behavior, not his heritage, so things can still blow up in his face down the line.
@@misseternal777 Though to his defense. These people had not really complained about it and he even shared Marianne some of his problems as tribute, so unlike Balthus, he is more gentle about it.
@@emilstoqanov3270 That's a good way of looking at it. Raphael is a guy who pretty much already knows what he wants. He's already accepted the loss of his parents and knows what direction in life he wants to go in.
