yeah, but unless he's already done it, I'd have first had him learn the "joys" of packing wheel bearings with his hands and a palm full of grease. Sometimes, that is all you will have. It just amazes me that Paul knows how to tear down and rebuild a transmission. Your average auto mechanic won't touch transmissions, it's just too complex, so they send it out to a transmission shop. I bet Paul is even self-taught, which just makes this even more amazing.

I paid taxes for so many years at these crazy rates and I cannot believe I am looking for help from anyone I can. I would take photos to show anyone willing to help so you know I am not a scammer. Truck is coming along nicely! I have about 20 years on you Paul, and I still tell the stories of me and my Dad and our "adventures in hot rodding". I lost him when I was 24, 6 months before his first grandson was born, so the stories are how my sons got to know their grandfather, as they learned how to use the tools he made his living with. Never stop telling the stories, they will keep his memory a living part of your family. I miss those days when my sons were in their teens. Some of the best years of MY life. Heck I even miss them not putting the tools away, LOL. Cherish these summers, Paul...they grow up too dang soon...

I just learned a whole lot about installing engines with this video - getting everything centered, and then leveled was new information for me. Then checking the clearance on the headers was wise, so you wouldn't have to pull the engine to replace a header gasket. I wish design engineers and auto manufacturers would think that far ahead when designing their vehicles. Paul, your shop is such a great family-run operation with Ben helping you, kids popping in and out working on their vehicles, Grandma stopping by to bring lunch, Michelle stopping by to visit. I hope you realize how lucky you are that you were able to create this wonderful world for you and your family.

A couple weeks...I had such a wonderful memory just then. I was pulling the clutch out of my F-100 that had been having some issues. Dad saw the condition and asked me, "How long have you been having problems with that clutch?" I answered, "eh, a couple weeks." His response was, word for word, the same as Paul's. He then informed me that he smelled clutch several weeks back and knew we were going to be under my pickup...well, he knew I was going to be under my truck. He never let it get too dangerous, but he was waiting for me to bring it up. The best education comes in the garage with dad! Thanks for the reminder. I miss that old cuss. By the way, I farted lifting the trans into place. He started me laughing with that thing setting on my chest. I was stuck under that hunk of metal for a good 5 minutes before I had the strength to lift it into place. Laughing might be good medicine, but it's not good for bench pressing a transmission into place.

Jordan Holmes I totally agree with you. I'm super impressed with Paul's parenting methods, he gives his kids direction and what some would call too much free reign but it allows for success and failure both promote character growth. Being a mechanic on a golf course I'm responsible for maintaining over a million dollars worth of equipment. I am troubled in my heart to see the young kids who come to work in the summer being utterly lost around machinery and even hand tools. They don't even know how to use shovels and rakes. Whatching Fab Rats is encouraging; Men, real Men, problem solving, being resourceful, building things out of nothing, having fun ribbing one another yet still showing genuine love. The editing and little sub text bits like"storytime with Paul",visits from grandma, Michelle trying to guess what parts are, the list is endless. It sounds a little bit corny but it really gives me hope that there are a lot more families like this with this dynamic. The synergy of this core group is what makes this channel so darn good. Really enjoyed watching the 2 brothers working at their perspective stations, side by side - GETTING THE WORK DONE, all in the same frame!!! Great job Randall!!! This video, in particular, had me truly ADMIRING FAB RATS OPERATING LIKE A WELL OILED MACHINE!!! From the shop work, to the recoveries, or the special projects, the filming, and the editing, and ALMOST forgot story time w/ the crew and Michelle naming them parts 😂, OR just the crew, having a great, fun time, just family enjoying life.... I'm just SUPER APPRECIATIVE THAT YOU ALL DECIDED TO SHARE YOUR LIFE, YOUR JOURNEY!!!

The amount of engineering that goes into an automatic transmission is ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING! I'm stunned that someone sat there and figured it all out. UNBELIEVABLE!

I am enjoying your channel a lot. I am wondering where Ed's Golden Nugget is. He's not getting any younger. I hope he's going to be around to see the reveal and have enough days left to enjoy it. Keep up all the great joy that you all bring to people that needs to see someone enjoying their life through hard work. Stay blessed.

Most video channels are on a delay of shooting and editing. Most likely it's being worked on video hasn't reached us yet. Toss in standard parts availability issues now add in the fact the zuk is old and rare he could be pretty hung up on parts needed to make content worth shooting, editing and uploading. I also am following the nuggy.

It’s heartbreaking to see it sitting there knowing Ed is missing it. My understanding from a previous video was that Ed is headed out to his goldmine and was probably hoping to have it back. Ed wasnt born yesterday. He knows what Paul and Robbie are capable of. The time and money being spent on it is for views. Ed doesn’t need or want a show piece. I’m praying he’s allowed to put it to use and it doesn’t get stuck in an endless round of car shows and promotional events.

A smart guy might add a drawer under that hole to catch what gets removed. Then slide the drawer out and grab your part. Or it’ll catch all the small parts that are destined to fall through that hole and get lost!

I hung around my uncle’s garage shop back in the early 90’s… enough to know some basic stuff. But not long enough to know more about engine and transmission stuff. Awesome to see your boys taking lots of interest in doing work on their own wheels.

I love you're getting Landon to do his own spannering , that's how I learnt. I'd watch my dad fix cars then I would have to do my own with pointers from my dad. I wasn't allowed a car unless I could fix it or afford to pay someone to fix it , so fix it myself it was.
