This is an all natural deodorant paste that goes on clear and works for a good 12 hours! It takes less than 10 minutes to make and will last a very long time.
DIY Natural Deodorant Recipe:
1/4 Cup Unrefined Raw Shea Butter (amzn.to/2gTBiPW)
6 TBSP Coconut Oil (amzn.to/2fXc4OI)
3 TBSP Beeswax Pellets (amzn.to/2gZuKOr)
10 TBSP Baking Soda
2 TBSP Arrowroot Powder/Cornstarch/Tapioca Starch
40 Drops Lavender Oil (amzn.to/2gzRoQw)
10 Drops Tea Tree Oil (amzn.to/2gTE1sM)
Melt Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Beeswax in double boiler. Once melted, add baking soda and arrowroot and blend. Remove from heat and add essential oils. Allow to cool slightly before pouring into container. Will harden into a paste.
*Test sensitivity before using liberally.

I made this deodorant last week and it is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing, as I've been looking for a good natural deodorant for a long time. I make all of my own bar soap, lotions, make-up remover, etc. This rounds out my recipe binder! I'd love to send you some of my bar soap made from organic coconut and olive oil as a thank you for your great tips and videos.

This might be TMI!!! I am getting ready to make my second batch. It is truly amazing. I wanted to let you know I used this under breasts and on a raw tummy fold on a patient ( with family permission)that stays moist and red and raw....and it worked wonders. Clear up the raw area quickly like 3 days and helped with the under breast sweat. Sorry if TMI.

I made this deodorant about 2/3 years ago and I'm SO excited for a second batch!! I also struggled with using commercial deodorants as they always left me smelling worse than before I applied. Since using this homemade recipe I've experienced my body odor is less offensive, even when I forget to apply! It feels as though commercial brands use additives that make odors worse so that you need to come back to their product and feel the need for more and more each time. This deodorant has been a life saver! Thank you so much Jaime and Jeremy!

I have been making my own deodorant about 4 years now, almost same ingredients minus the essential oils and I don’t cook mine. I put it into an empty deodorant container. It makes it a little easier to put on. I do store mine in the refrigerator cause it will melt at about 74 degrees or higher. Thanks for the wonderful video.

I think your math is a bit off... that NOW Essential Oil costs about $18.49 for the 4oz bottle... 4 ounces contain about 1824 drops.. so, if you divide $18.49 into 1824 = 0.010 per drop. so, 40 drops = approx .40 cents...not $7.20. - - for the Lavender EO to cost $7.20 for 40 drops, you would have had to pay $328 for that bottle lol
@FrarmerFrank
@FrarmerFrank 4 года назад
A takes as bit of jumping around on Amazon to get directed from 4 ounces for $23 to $11.30 for 10 ounces on Lavender.... Which I use 10 ddrops with 1/4 cup salt(tablesalt),a teaspoon olive oil and a cup and half water to make my "dead sea salt body wash".....the Lavender being a natural antibacterial and bacteria growth deterrent Tea tree oil is also antibacterial and antifungal but I'm allergic to wood sap

amazingly what works for me is just coconut butter or oil. i just use it everywhere under my arms as I would any body cream and it works great. discovered this by accident when one day a "healthy and non toxic" deodorant irritated my skin. i use the oil to heal my skin and I notice that i did not need the use any deodorant :)

I made this recipe a couple of years ago and I just ran out of it. I tweaked it by only using tea tree oil and I must say as hard as I work and as sweaty as I get this deodorant recipe works to keep the smell completely away, and the nice thing was I did not have to apply it liberally, it was just a very very light stroke of the stick that work. I found that if I used too much it would stain my shirts but just a little dab will do you. I’m getting ready to make another batch. Thank you for this recipe.

Made this deodorant 2 nights ago. The test for me was taking my daughter to Walmart. This is not about the store, but the number of people always present. My daughter suffers from severe anxiety and being around a lot of people brings it on. She picks up their vibrations.in turn, her body begins to emit an odor, which I feel is her body's defense mechanism to protect herself and keep people away. IT WORKED!!! Been wanting to get away from aluminum based products, but something that actually worked for my daughter!?! Cannot THANK you enough!!

we are making a simplified version of this. ours is just coconut oil, baking soda, cornstarch (organic and gmo free) and teetree oil. we are soo happy with it! in winter when the coconut oil is too hard, we let it sit on the radiator for a few minutes and it is soft.

Ok! Finally! I made your deodorant! When I saw this video months ago I wanted to make it, but then I found something with comparable ingredients. So I bought that instead. It was ok. Then I ran out...and thought OK! Now I have a container to put it in! I substituted the coconut oil with olive oil and the arrowroot with cornstarch, because that's what I had on hand. I also added another tablespoon of beeswax so that it would set up a little more solid. AMAZING! I LOVE it.... It preformed remarkably well and I even took a walk with my sweater on in the 90 degree heat to test it. lol I was a tiny bit concerned that the oil would stain my shirt, but it didn't. Roll on deodorant Friday, June 3, 2016 8:39 AM Ingredients: 1 tsp. baking soda (non aluminum) you can substitute arrowroot if you are sensitive to baking soda but this is a lot less than most deodorant recipes and is generally well tolerated 3 Tbsp H2O 3/4 tsp glycerin 1/4 Xanthan gum powder 1 1/2 tsp aloe gel 2 tsp Zinc Oxide powder 1/2 tsp almond or Jojoba or coconut oil 10 drops sage (Sage oil is key because it has natural antiperspirant qualities) 10 drops lavender 1/2 tsp vit E oil as preservative Instructions Place the baking soda and the water into a bowl, and stir until the soda is completely dissolved. Using another container, combine the glycerin, the xanthan gum and stir well. Add in a small quantity of the water/baking soda mixture you made before (about one teaspoon) and using a milk frother (like this www.amazon.com/Ikea-Milk-Frother-303-011-67-Black/dp/B013S27CLQ/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1481461150&sr=8-11&keywords=hand+held+milk+frother ) to combine the ingredients. Keep adding the water/baking soda mixture a little at a time and working it in until it is all incorporated. Add in the aloe gel,zinc oxide, oil of your choice and the essential oils and stir them in to complete the preparation. Pour into a roll-on bottle. Store the extra deodorant for a refill in a amber glass container suitable for essential oil storage (no plastic). IMPORTANT: Shake roll on bottle before applying!

Let me know what you think if you try it! You can find glass roll on bottles on line, have yet to find one with glass or metal balls only plastic, but it does not stay in constant contact with the deodorant solution and mine has not suffered any ill effects from EO's. They have small ones with metal balls but not suitable for deodorant you would have to refill constantly.

I have never tried arrowroot in mine will have to next time. I have been using my own for years even while working in restaurants and never had a complaint, I'll never go back to commercial

I stopped using baking soda, because it was making my skin red and peeling skin. The arrowroot is said to be more gentile.

Janice B I have the same issue. I'm baking soda sensitive! I can never reapply without washing my armpits and sometimes if I sweat a lot, I will still get burned. It is awful! Maybe I'll half her recipe, without the baking soda, and test my "stink level". Are you saying you don't need the baking soda? The only way I've found to effectively reduce my stink, without products of any kind, is to stay far away from unclean food, no dairy, and reduce how much meat I eat. But sometimes...a girl just wants what a girl wants... and I stink for a day or so. lol

You calculated the price at the end which is great by the way but do you know how much you are saving if you bought this from a manufacturer. Brilliant video`s thankyou for taking time to make them, All the best for the new year from the UK

I also have been thinking about making a deodorant that completely removes bad-smelling sweet permanently but I do not know where to start. I have ingredients ready to start but just wonder what makes solid rub in stuff. I learned some from your video though. Thank you.

fab, also good idea to add that the deodorant would actually last for months. I made a jar about that big and it lasts at least 8 mths. So even though initially costs to buy the ingredients but look how much you're saving from buying those rubbish deodorants. Also what's the cost on your health?

We take our own lavender herbs or lemon balm herb & add the leaves to boiling water and steep until it's cold. Strain off the liquid. use the liquid which has become infused naturally with the herbs. use this water as your base in deodorant paste making. Also put in the refrigerator for 4 hours to set up. Makes a wonderful gift if you use fancy 1/2 pint jars.

I really enjoy your videos, good information and a very down to earth, laid back manner. I'm curious, do you make your own laundry soap? If so, I would be curious what recipe you use, is it powder or liquid, etc. One of them, she uses the same basic soap recipe and adds more or less of certain items to use it for household cleaners and dish soap.

I tried several and all ended up with my clothes smelling like mildew after 2 months. That is one of those things I just chalk up and use a cheap commercial product. Just about everything else I make.

I put into a jar but have trouble getting it out unless I shave off some and melt it in my hand.Is there something I could add to it to make it more soft?
@Hadassah7000
@Hadassah7000 5 лет назад
Somebody probably already said this, but both of those disadvantages are not really disadvantages, so your deo is even better than you claimed. As u said, people need to sweat. And economically speaking, that jar is equivalent to lots of deo sticks, plus u dont lose any at the end of the stick. So way cheaper than chemical deos and waaaaay cheaper than natural deos.

I have found that the powdered ingredients stop up my pores and I end up with swollen knots in my pits. Has anyone used this with out any powders and it works?

Honestly I couldn't find anything that I liked for me so I decided to stop wearing any deodorant what so ever. I know to some people that might sound just gross but if you are not sweating it wouldn't matter if you wore any. In the summer I wash my underarms once or twice a day if I am out in public. It has been just shy of 2 years not wearing any and I must admit It is nice not having to worry about that :)

Baking soda leaves my skin itchy and after a few days raw. The things that work amazing for me are actually very easy -pure milk of magnesia, or zinc oxide powder mixed with some oil, or a teaspoon of activated charcoal taken internally, or bentonite clay mask on underarms. Zinc oxide is sticky and needs to be applied just once in a few days. People also say, that bentonite mask eventually needs to be used just once a week or so (after using it for a few weeks daily, then every second day, and so on.) I tried bentonite clay and there was absolutely no bad smell even after 24 hours with heavy heat and moving around all day. But I lost my patience applying it after a week or so, LOL. Zinc oxide is my most common one I use. I use the same for sunscreen (just make it a bit less thick.) And it would work as diaper lotion.

feltingme oh I'm glad to see this comment I've been using this for about a week or two now and my poor arm pits are red and irritated. I wonder if it might be the grittiness of the baking soda.
@Guildbrookfarm

+Ashley Dempsey Yes it likely is. Some people are sensitive to it. Try cutting back to half the amount

I think it is because baking soda is extremely alkaline, and burns more sensitive skin. I shudder when people use it to brush their teeth... It might work as a well melted rinse, but certainly not to brush with powder. Way too harsh. On the other hand, for cleaning bathtub it is perfect. Activated charcoal or clay works for teeth. And licorice stick (or any other edible twig, that has soft enough texture. Cleans much better than a toothbrush.

Hi, i mix coconut oil, baking soda and corn starch and they don’t seem to dissolve and turns out pretty gritty which i’m not sure if it’s from the baking soda or the starch but do you have any tips on how to get the smooth texture?

Thanks! Great video. You said you are using tapioca for the first time. Did it work? Which one do you prefer? Tapioca or arrowroots?
@Guildbrookfarm

Yes! The tapioca worked perfectly. I would say both are great but since I already use tapioca in my bread flour, I am just going to continue to use that so I won't be purchasing additional products.
