In my opinion their used car value is quite low and it could indicate that their price for new car is too high considering their size class.But that is slowly changing lately.

@@user-kn5vp2qq6d That's easy to disprove, Volvo's depreciation rate is better than most comparable brands. The only thing I don't like is that the screens are too small and segregated, I'd prefer it if they had large screens across the dash like the German manufacturers are doing.

The more appealing is front of the car the more difficult is to find a way to love rear lights. I didn't like it on S90 but on S60 it has been reshaped and I am surprised myself I like it. What is more, I think its cool and well done, hardly can say that about rear lights on new Audi A4 or BMW 3.

If driving at highway speeds in Hybrid mode, will the engine keep the battery topped off, or will you be constantly eating into your EV range on a long highway rode trip? Is the Pure mode even able to maintain highway speeds? I have a commute of 80 mph and am not sure how much use of the EV range I would benefit from.

I would pay 74.000 € for this car . Might be the most beautiful car in the segment ( exterior / interior ) and it’s something different from the german’s options. It’s absolutely gorgeous that interior…great designers.

Good review. I very much like Volvos new design. You mentioned steering rack is not bad. Steering is light. What about steering feel/feedback? For suspension, would you say it's plush/floaty boaty or firm and stiff? Not race car stiff but stiff enough where harsh humps disrupt it? In my experience with the Volvo SUVS (no air suspension), I felt the ride was a bit firm. Not plush or soft. Also changing driving modes didn't feel like that much of a difference as far as feel. Putting in sport increased the weight of the steering of the wheel a bit and more noise coming through the steering wheel but not good feedback. Like a dirty signal. Can tell the car increased the signal but signal-to-noise ratio was unsatisfactory. I can feel the tires doing something but the feedback was muted. I want to feel the car through my finger tips. Feel every pebble under the tires and know precisely where the front tires are and what they're feeling. In my experience, the Volvo fails on that front. They're not alone, however. It's frustrating that steering feel in the luxury class is generally subpar. Even BMW has numb steering. Just my two cents.

Thanks! Standard suspension is soft, optional sports suspension (R-Design) is stiff. Steering feel is not very natural, rather light.

Nice university campus background - many thanks Aditya. Agree with you, prefer a lighter coloured and airier interior. In electric mode in the city does it emit a 'noise' to alert pedestrians? Interesting hybrid arrangement, but think I prefer the BMW or Merc PHEV 'in-line' hybrid system (even with a diesel? Controversial!).

the combustion engine has 303 hp, as said in the engine part. He explained it in the engine part how it is accurately

Having been in the new S60, the interior material quality is not as good as it may look and seem, at least in my opinion. there are some nasty, flimsy plastics one the glove compartment lid, steering column and lower console. The piano black trim gets scratched up super easily and the steering wheel is also visually ugly the same can be said about the gauge cluster, which looks very washed out.

Nice review. I like the new Volvo designs but I wonder how durable that complex engine system will be. (As an aside, being a professional in the film world, if you have bad sound and you want to re-record specific parts that were lost you either record it properly in a room that has no echo and record wild sound of the outside and then overlay them or you just go out and record it outside with the same mic set up.... in fact you probably have wild sound from the camera when he was doing his exterior shots of the car. )

@@autogefuehl Shame. On a normal set, we record sound for at least a minute at the end of each location on every set int or ext to overlay possible issues with sound. Tell AJ to use a blanket to muffle any echo in the room if he has to do it again. Honestly, any exterior ambient sound would have sufficed. Maybe I should just fly over and shoot 1 of your videos and have a beer with you guys!

The engine has been in Volvos since around 2014/15. I'm not sure exactly what year, but it was used in last generation's S60 before the SPA Volvos. I think it has been a reliable engine based on just my own reading of reviews, not personal experience. The electronics is where Volvo has issues. They have a recall for automatic safety braking. But the engines are good. I understand people don't like the sound of the 4 cylinder that much. But it performs and seems durable.

Good looking car this, the T8 is quite well priced here in Northern Europe due to low tax. I wonder why the launch has been delayed since the US got this way sooner or at least some versions. Nicely done lads. Is the V60 made in Europe btw?

Good review - definately an interesting alternative. Appretiate that it won't happen until 2021 - but Volvo's decision to play nanny state and limit the top speed is a turn off.

Yea, that was driving me crazy every time he kept incorrectly mentioning the HP. On certain parts, when just mentioning the gas engine, it was understandable, but he kept saying 303 like it was total, which is incorrect and can create some misunderstanding. Here in the US, it actually gets 400HP in the T8, and 415HP in the Polestar T8 (the joke being, the yellow restraints add 15HP, but it’s the Polestar tuning, of course)!

That plugin hybrid cars are just s trial of the manufacturers, to keep their internal combustion technology alive. Because with the fully electric cars is almost no agterssles business.

I appreciate the Volvo, especially in R-Design spec, but they really need to throw that "safe and practical over everything" approach into the wastebin at this price level. Ultimately, the competition is no less practical and no less safe, but offers a much better drive. Being nice inside can only carry one so far and, as much as I love the aesthetics of the S60, the fact that it can't offer the driving experience of an S5 or M440i kinda kills its chances.

I disagree. Let BMW and Audi have their driving manners and let Volvo have theirs. Believe it or not, I prefer Volvo. I've figured out why, too. The BMW and Audi have a very serious and almost too precise manner about them. The Volvo feels softer in a way I prefer. If you want all of the sharp handling and manners of Audi or BMW, go for it. If you want something different like Volvo, Jaguar, Lexus, go for those. Choice and different personalities is good.

I really love this car, except there is no pure electric version. So I guess I am going to hold out for Polestar 2, although it looks a lot less refined.

Marius Breabăn there is a pure electric mode through the drive mode selection. Although, it only runs about 20 miles on battery.

Aber konsequent ist es nicht, wenn die Homepage auf deutsch und damit für ein entsprechend Deutsch sprechendes Publikum gestaltet ist, aber die Beiträge/ Berichte in einer abweichenden Sprache verfasst sind...🤔 Aber ich gehe mal davon aus, dass dies sicher Marketing-/Provisionsgründe hat. Ich denke mal die Auswertung des Nutzerherkunft würde sicherlich auch bestätigen, dass der Großteil der Besucher aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum stammt. Andere Portal-Kollegen produzieren ja auch in deutscher Sprache und leben von den Klicks sicher auch ganz gut...😉

Das ist absolut konsequent, wir machen das seit 2013 so. RU-vid ist eine internationale Plattform und wird weltweit aufgerufen, dadurch richten wir uns an ein internationales Publikum. Nur so war es überhaupt möglich, das gesamte Projekt durchzuziehen. Der Großteil der Zuschauer kommt aus den USA. Stell dir vor, Mercedes würde nur Autos nur in Deutschland verkaufen, weil das Stammwerk in Stuttgart ist :-)

Best choice has to be considered from the use pattern and tax system of your country. If you are a daily car commuter, you want to drive electric in a Plug-in or a full electric. With a full electric you may benefit from incentives as tax free car price, no parking fee, free road tolls like norwegians already have. If you need an allrounder car for multiple uses and you don't drive in city center a Plug-in hybrid will be a better choice. If you commute by bus or cycle and use your car on free time, you can choose pretty much anything else

Maybe this car is a good experiment for Uber but for general customers I prefer the Tesla/BMW approach. The car can drive itself, but also you can drive it and enjoy the drive

Shinny buttons on steering wheel are looking ugly. Ironically better looks steering whel on base version. No shinny buttons please - they look really cheap and creappy. And volvo should add leather cover on steering wheel for airbag - like BMW does in X5.

Grrrrr... @8:00 perpetuating the myth that a pano roof might reduce headroom. It’s clear in the shot that the glass is on the same plane as the exterior roof, so how could it ever be possible there is less headroom compared to the steel roof with layers of insulation and headliner

It's not a myth. A glass roof that can be opened _always_ reduces head room. As any automotive engineer. And ask us since we have had examples for that like a 1000 times. Just a _fixed_ glass roof can be similar or even more spacious.

I agree, I have never seen glass roof reduce headroom... well, not significantly. If there is a reduction, it must be in the millimeter range, since most of the cars I’ve seen, the difference is unnoticeable. But I guess, if people want to be concerned with that, then they can have their preference. I’d rather have a moonroof any day, than a closed in, stuffy, solid roof!

Yea, I totally agree... In my humble opinion, the Black interior is much better than the lighter options... but yeah the reviewer made it sound like the Black interior is unacceptable and that the lighter color was the only way to go! The funny thing though, I don’t prefer the piano black cup holder cover, as i like the metal looking option in the R-Design; but the reviewer seemed to like that piano black look! LOL! Go figure!

Polestar IS a Volvo! It’s just like how AMG is part of Mercedes-Benz. So the cars aren’t “different”, they are modified versions.

Both Polestar cars are Volvos. The Polestar 1 is the Volvo Concept Coupe of 2013. The Polestar 2 is the Volvo Concept 40.2

I really like the outside design and would even give 12 out of 10 for the front! But as far as the inside is concerned, except for the beautiful seats, I would rather have an Audi dashboard! I really find the Volvo one disgraceful, with vents that look like you are driving a truck. Not a fan of the sterring wheel too. Ah!

I think that opinion about the dash, vents and steering wheel, is purely subjective. I love the look of all 3, and with the exception of one reviewer who also didn’t care for the steering wheel, all of the other 15-20 videos I’ve watched, the reviewers liked all aspects of the interior. I think everyone has to find what they prefer. I hate the BMW interior, but some people feel it’s a gold standard! Go figure!

@@WillieStylez I agree. I do not want an Audi or BMW interior. Especially the BMW. It's so boring and unimaginative and kind of cold and hard in a way. The new Audi s8/s6 is nice and clean but a lot of screens and isn't quite as elegant as the Volvo in my opinion. I love the Concept Coupe from Volvo, which is where these vents come from and Volvo interiors are based. I think Volvo's interiors have more style than most cars. The competition I find is coming from Genesis with the 2021 G80. Now that's a fine looking vehicle inside.

The way how you made this video it's like big step back for you. First, shots with drone are low quality, camera on the drone rotate too rapidly, second your voice as a pre-recorded background when you talking about the engine, really? That's not the content which we use to get guys... Also the camera was shaking very often and the image was not fluid.

Voice Over was done because the engine figures are mixed up on the official pages, therefore we had to correct it

Momentum in the US is available with leatherette seats gladly! Higher trims always include animal skin (R-Design part microfibre, part animal skin) Inscription animal skin only. In Germany, sadly only high trims available so far

I can see Volvo going the same way Saab did! The market is dominated by German and Asian cars. Who on earth buys a Volvo nowadays? I only know one person with a Volvo now.

That's a funny comment, because Volvo's sales figures has gone up around 10% compared to last year and a lot since previous years. And you try to extrapolate their global sales on what your family and friends are driving. very funny comment and get some information before write.. volvo is the only or one of the few car makers that score sale +10% or more, worldwide! Personally I drive a new Volvo, and I had German cars before, and tell you that Volvo to me now is same level as German car .. but way better in design and class, comfort, overall a better package that many tawdry over designed germans cars with big front grills .
