And to think this game here essentially is what started the e-gamer sport.. Bunch of L33T Koreans rallying any and all opponents.. reaver dropping their opponent while they’re opponent is frantically trying to mass a huge squad of marines, siege tanks, Goliath’s and a few vultures, all while those reavers end the game, then you hear the beep beep (Player 1 has disconnected)
The former Executor, Tassadar, was commanded to halt the Zerg progress in the Terran sector by burning the infested human worlds. Unfortunately, he disregarded his orders and attempted to destroy the Zerg while sparing the Terrans from the flame. Clearly, Tassadar has failed us. You must not.
3:55 : A Beautiful Doom (what I call this masterpiece) I can't tell you how many times this specific part has played while I'm playing against the Zerg. Being overrun. Hearing the constant, "you have not enough minerals, your base is under attack, you must construct additional pylons, Your warriors have engaged the enemy" Goddamn I miss this game so much. 1998 to 2001 had some damn good games that I remember very fondly and this is DEFEINTLY one of them.
12:18 & 17:25 I think these are masterpieces honestly. They fit the Protoss perfectly but are also so well made all the way through. They're even more grandiose than the game they were meant for.
I agree... But this theme seems tailormade for their "defeat" of Aiur. It's grandiose, but you can tell things are missing, you can tell something came in and force inserted desolation .
There are few games that match the atmosphere created by their soundtracks. Starcraft's music just put me in another place sometimes i'd load up the game as a kid just to listen to it.
14:05 Executor. Tassadar. This comes too late to you. But the Conclave has witnessed your defeat of the Cerebrate. They know now that they cannot deny the necessity or the valiancy of your actions. We sought to punish you, while it was we who were in error. You represent what is greatest in us all, and all our hopes go with you. EN TARO ADUN, brave Sons of Aiur!
Aside from the differences, I used to believe that the Protoss were The Elites of Halo... but now I think they are more like The Forerunners of Halo... and somehow Covenant and Human technology collects the knowledge of this superior race.
Greetings Aldaris, it is I Tassadar. I come bearing news, I pissed and shit myself and am now steering the Gantrithor into a collision course with the conclave!
Zealot : “My life for Aiur!" Terran Marine : “The Marines are happy to oblige. 🔫 “ Zealot : "I run directly into machine-gun fire! For Aiur! Zealot in Dragoon : “Maybe I shouldn't run directly into machine-gun fire again….”
Executor, I know that you were reluctant to leave Aiur in this dark hour, and that you still grieve for the lost of your comrade, Fenix. But remember that he lived and died as a Templar. He has reached the Khala's end. There is no greater glory than that.
Tassadar: And I say to thee, THIS SHALL NOT COME TO PASS! AIUR SHALL NOT FALL! Executor, I stand ready. Raynor: Well, I guess all I have left is to see this through. The Zerg have taken everything from me. My home, my friends, my family. I know that nothing I can do can bring those things back but I'll be damned if I just sit on my hands and wait for the end. I want a piece of them all right. I'm in. Tassadar: Then let our actions speak for us! For Adun! For Aiur!
@@fedorsymkin2961 one maxed carrier with 8 interceptors actually make in the first hit 72 damage, then the damage delays a litle cause interceptors go to target other enemys , while a fully maxed BC makes around 30-35 damage per hit and it hits slower i think, so yeah carrier is like 12% better, cause of the damage delay when there ar more than 1 objective
6:11 Makes me reflect on everything that's in StarCraft 1 and Brood War... everything protoss species and protoss characters have gone through... I don't know, but when I was playing protoss campaigns and even simply listening to their osts in my late childhood I felt something that I can describe as sorrow, somber and for some reason absurd wish to hope, that things will get better
@@nizdeniz Indeed. Gameplay is divine, but story became stereotypical shonen/disney movie. I don't think that making zerg more neutral was bad turn, but turning Kerrigan into saviour of universe, especially after series of her war crimes in Brood War and WoL. And justification of her evil behaviour as result of corrupting influence of Dark God made her spineless and, well, not well written. Also, I think protoss didn't get enough attention or "screen time", especially in LotV. It's just funny to see that protoss are not getting enough consideration. Also, I think WoL still have dark and realistic themes of war.
@@carrierscourgepylonlord4381 first of all -spoilers-, i havent played LotV yet so i wont read the whole thing. secondly i meant the problem of scale and refugee paradox. its same as in picard (i havent watched, but i refer to romulans being refugees on earth), supposedly protoss empire spanned across the koprulu sector for hundreds of lightyears, composing of hundreds of planets. it makes no sense that destruction of a world, may it be their homeworld, would bring another aeon of strife to protoss. things a bigger mess than the original star wars.
@@nizdeniz Oh, sorry for spoilers. Also, about what I said about LotV, this may be only mine and some people's opinions. And I think that there are still some interesting characters in StarCraft 2
@@nizdeniz Yes, but some people tend to justify it as that Aiur contains secret about their species and Overmind choose to land himself/itself on this planet because he/it could figure out how to incorporate protoss species into the swarm and create hybrids. But if so, then why Overmind's psionic emanations didn't harm terran and protoss? This creature described as powerful psionic zerg! At least they made great gameplay for this game
I always loved the debriefing room music from Protoss. It made all the other species looking like pets or animals where you have council to decide what to do for their well being, since they obviously can't do it themselves.
How come SC2 is nowhere near this? This is classical music level....how come they could do this in 1998? If you are not tearing up then there is something wrong here...
16:38 is a direct a rip from the 1984 Dune main theme. That 4-note motif is used to reflect dark and massive currents of fate and conspiracy in that movie.
@@jamescommagere7906 Blizzard loves their archetypes: before the Draenei, the Night Elves already re-used the Protoss archetype. Older, wisest race, first born, hidden from the mortal eyes, eternal lifespans, watching from afar and protecting the world from a foreign fate, blue (lol) Same as Arthas was based on Kerrigan, the Lich King on the Overmind, the Scourge on the Zerg, the Night Elves were based on the Protoss
