Great yarns mate🙌 I believe Duane caught a Rainbow trout and your right my trout where the Brown trout. Those fish eggs where so tasty, a great entree to a fish soup 😃

Whilst at the time u were perhaps too much in ur head to consider possible post effect of greater public awareness, onya for the bravery of talkn to the camera about the roller-coaster struggles of PTSD xo. And on this ANZAC day, imagine what it was like for the old boys coming home, fearful to even discuss, what was considered weakness, with their wives. Lest We Forget! 🥀

@@Lana_Warwick I know that talking about my experiences wont bring any ill effect. I tend to open up so much more than as I used to hide it all for nearly 15 years. Sharing my struggles helps me a lot too.🙏🙏

Pretty sure Duane’s was a brown as well. Brown trout don’t have spots on their tail whereas rainbows do. Also pretty sure it was a male of breeding age given the hook jaw on it.

Hi Mike. Found out about you via SBS and searched the Tube looking for contestant commentary and recaps. Wow! I got more than I bargained for with your channel. I was also able to find and watch your "Surviving the Outback" doco. Amazing and Brilliant work. I'm not sure why the networks / streamers haven't snaffled you up to fill the void left by Les Hiddins and Alby.

Palawa people from Tasmania only wore a possum skin around their waist, almost nothing. A coat of possum grease on the skin helped with the cold and wet but obviously not as much as clothing with loft. Amazing! Also they didnt burn fire for warmth only ceromony and cooking by their own law this was all that was allowed. My thought is once you use the fire for warmth you adapt to that. Stories like that blow me away! Human potential and all that.

Yep. Compared to the palawa we’re all a complete bunch of hackers. It would have been truly amazing to live among them before they were removed from their land.

Hey Mike, your approach out there is so thoughtful and clever, you have done your self proud. I'm enjoying these insights from your re-caps, so thankyou for putting them up. Also as an aside, I saw you at the tip of Cape York. I noticed your canoe/boat anchored up and knew you were doing that adventure, wish I had the courage to come up and say hi. Cheers Brett.

I'm enjoying the show and especially your recaps. Of the items you're allowed to take with you, does that include medications ? It'd be a bit unfair I think if medications were included.

It wasn't clear from the episode unfortunately. How much tucker have you been able to find from foraging.? The episodes don't seem to have you finding much

It’s a very difficult place and time of year to forage. The audio is a little hard to hear but in ep 5 I say that I’ve only eaten some shoots (the same sword grass shoots Kate was eating in a previous episode).

Making fanciest gear that isn't successful won't keep you alive. The biologist who doesn't know what a worm is and the guy with severe mental struggles were far more successful than Mike at maintaining food/energy.
