I know many will say, and have already said, that this is too long or that this game isn't my style. To be honest I don't want to tie myself down to one type of thing, some people get very good at being one type of youtuber and I could probably do that too but I don't want to. I want to expand my abilities of commentary and show that I'm not a yelling moron who does highly edited stuff all the time, that if given the chance I can hold your interest for an hour as well as 12 minutes. I also want variety in games to play and for the channel because just playing the Escapists or Sims 4 or whatever all day everyday like many people want would kill my enthusiasm for recording, it would stifle my creativity and would sap all that energy you guys seem to love so much. Please be open minded about this stuff. I get if you don't wanna watch it and if you ignore it that's fine, but please don't litter the comments with "this doesn't suit you" or "please play something else" because it won't change anything. I appreciate feedback but I don't always do it

Did anyone else's heart break when Jack's voice cracked at the very end of the letter where Charlotte says the world has no place for her anymore?

When I witnessed Charlotte's death, I was instantly overwhelmed with a multitude of emotions... sadness, anger, horror, but most importantly the sense of helplessness. My mind immediately thought, "Charlotte had always been so close within the player's reach, yet we were never able to meet and save her until it was too late." This truly reminds me of the feeling of something or someone being seemingly so close to us, yet we are so powerless to intervene and help them that they are in reality so far away and unreachable from us, and that is one of the worst feelings for one to ever experience :(

I feel as though the fact that your not in a real prison just adds a whole new layer to the game much like depression. You are trapped in a place where everyone else just sees a normal office but all you see is a cell that you can't escape and you can't leave or tell anyone that you are trapped until they all leave for some reason

I just realized, with a lot of indie horror games nowadays using PS1 style graphics to enchance the horror vibe, this game basically pioneered that almost a decade ago

Wertpol is dead. They committed suicide some time in June of 2018. They were working on a redux of Presentable Liberty because they felt obligated, but their Kickstarter failed (twice?) and they were faced with some personal problems. Just wanted to let everyone know that a sequel won't be coming. I really liked Menagerie and the way it presented itself, and it's a shame we won't be able to see more of it. Rest in Peace.

Fun Fact: Emergency Lights are often red because Red Light doesn't compromise your dark vision the way white lights do. So if you have to go from the lit area to a dark area your eyes will adjust quicker.

It's quite odd, that when one is lonely, one will make company of anything one is presented with. Like in portal, the companion cube is just a cube with hearts, yet many fell in love with it and were sad to let it go. Same goes for this game: though Jack is at first disgusted by the bug, his loneliness makes him treasure it's presence, as is shown when Jerry stops moving. Jack is devastated at the loss of his only visible friend. Quite odd, huh?

games like this have always been the best to me. The Static Speaks my Name, Presentable Liberty, Emily is Away, The Beginner's Guide... they're all so different from what I expect in gaming now.

Well I very sadly got one of those notes (suicide note) from my best friend who committed suicide and gave me a suicide note on Christmas Day with a goodbye and a thank you for all the things I helped him through. With that note came a picture of my friend and I cuddled up together under a blanket (might I add, it’s really cute) watching movies and eating snacks with on the back of the picture written with his signature under it: “I’m sorry I never told you, but I’ve always loved you. I never had the courage to tell you because I didn’t know what you would think of me, and didn’t want to lose our friendship. Please forgive me for all the bad things I’ve done. Love- Brandon.” That was my Christmas gift of 2021. The saddest part is I loved him too but I never told him for the exact same reason he didn’t say anything and I never told him I was gay either for the same reason.

I honestly prefer the slower paced games This was very well written

honestly, this game is an important masterpeice, way more important than what most people think. just think about happy buddy, trying everything, selling his organs, his house, his food, everything just to keep you happy to save his daughters, but in the end his actions were futile, so he had to go down the rabbit hole, and end his life. think about Charlotte, who were right next to you the entire game, but thinking shes alone, and kills herself. we all should, or have felt these feelings before. and the fact that the creator killed himself two, adds to the importance. he might have made this game as a cry for help, or a representation of his mental state, but whatever he felt, we felt.

It’s been years but still presentable liberty holds the title of being one of only 4 games to ever make me cry and I still tear up every time i hear the song “with love Charlotte” And I cry even harder now knowing what happened to its creator R.I.P Robert Brock you where an amazing artist who told beautiful stories

One of the best games of this era. Sad it never took off like fnaf or Undertale did. It’s getting a remake soon in memoriam of its creator who passed away. There’s going to be new endings, new content, new lore, and some new characters while still being the same story as the developer envisioned it to be.

I love how jack was like, “I hate bugs” then by the end he was like, “He’s my only companion!”

Its so sad, that jack didn't like Mr. smiley, and didn't realize why he needed to stay happy.

Funfact: I always draw while watching videos. And at the end of this video Jack said something about imagining the characters in your own mind. Well, at the end of this video there was a girl drawn on the paper. I think i'll call her Charlotte.

Just now realizing I have a tendency to watch this or have it as background noise when I’m feeling super lonely. I dunno kinda comforting somehow.

The whole time Salvador was talking about coming home and seeing familiar faces I couldn't stop thinking they are probably dead...

In the end, the one thing this game shows is actually how easy it is to control someone's mind. If you were placed in that prison cell and everything was fake, someone completely made up and sent those letters to you and in the end you would wind up feeling so strongly about people that don't even exist. What if the person who made it all up had someone they wanted dead? They would just put their name everywhere we see Dr. Money's name and I'm pretty sure a lot of people would end up at least inflicting some kind of serious pain if they ever saw that person, only because they had been led to believe something that didn't exist. Because in the end bone of it was real. It was just a game. And yet those emotions it creates within every player/viewer are very real. And it's kind of scary, if you think about it, how easy it truly is to manipulate the mind. To make it feel something so real, from something so fake.

This game hits so different all these years later. 6 years later and this still brongs back so many emotions. Its kind of funny seeing how this aged with there actually being a virus and us actually needing to isolate ourselves but also moments like Sean explaining what the oculus rift is.

It's sweet to see that jack used to be so lonely and stuff, but now he lives with Evelyn and seems so much happier in himself and life ❤️ Also him saying "imagine if there was a virus that killed loads of people, that would be crazy" 👁️👄👁️ o lord corona comin

Watching this for the first time as a 14 year old I never considered the great mind behind this game. I went to see what he was up to today to find he committed suicide a while ago, knowing this now only makes the game even sadder but also solidified its importance. Rest in peace Robert Brock

I originally watched this when I was fifteen back in 2015, I'm 23 now and things have surely changed, some for the better and some for the worse but I just started thinking about this game again and literally searched through every single one of his videos just to find this one because I couldn't remember the name, but I knew that the game, and subsequently, the message involved were worth remembering, it's been 8 years since then, and we've all changed alot. Séan,, you've really improved, you've changed and have gotten better with yourself and life, you've matured just like the rest of us and I've just gotta say, thank you for being a part of my life, I may have moved away from your channel over the years but know this, know that I will not and could not ever forget a man such as yourself. When Charlottes letter came with the blood ....i actually started crying😢

idk if anyone's ever dedicated an entire comment to this but you know what I just realized having watched this again almost a decade later? the bug chose to stay. in its own little way, it made the choice to stay with the player. you see right at the end with the final screen it wasn't until the door was fully opened, even long after you leave that it moved and left the cell. the opening the letters came in were easily more than enough for it to one day crawl out and go way beforehand, but even though after a few days it didn't move it chose to stay under your bed. whether it was or wasn't entirely intended to have a more meaningful reasoning it felt so right to end off on. that's all

I was a young teen when I first watched this, and it resonated me a lot bc I dealt w/ then unknown mental health problems at that time. Now that I’m an adult, it still resonates but a little more maturely and openly this time. I still suffer with my mental health, I think we as a world are going through a big mental health crisis. The only thing I think most important, especially now, is to be kind. Always be kind. Through death and tragedy, be there for you when nobody else can. And you, whoever reads, Keep moving forward. Love will be kind, always 🤍 Be and give the love to the you that you want to see in life

It's weird watching this in 2020 and realizing how realistic this could be for so many people..

Seeing this in 2023 and looking back in the past few years really makes me think. Jack said a lot of things that somewhat came true and the fact that this game had predicted so many things like a huge virus breaking out snd killing millions of people and the big companies that tried to make cures that failed. It just makes me so much more thankful that I and many other people made it through the pandemic and are making it through as life goes on. If you ever feel like taking your life just think about everything you have and everything you can do to get help. Thats the end of my long rant. Bless you all.

Near the end of the video, jack says that the video would probably get a lot of dislikes and there isn't a single one that is coming up on my computer. That was one of the most emotional games I have ever watched and it is such a powerful story that has made me think very hard about my life and look at all the amazing things that I have. Friends that care about me, a family that will take care of me, and a community that will lift me up when I fall down. I want to thank jack so much for playing this game and reminding me of what a great, amazing, and blessed life I have. Even though I might go through dark times, I will always have someone to help me along the way.

You know what I find depressingly funny. the doctor's poster was right. (Doctor) Money survives all hardships. He's still safe hiding away, while you are outside where the dead are. and I'm guessing you will catch what they had eventually.

OH MY GOD IMAGINE BEING IN THE SITUATION AND ACCIDENTALLY STEPPING ON UR BUG - ID CRY

I remember when I first watched this video when I was like 11, it has stuck itself into my mind and keeps coming up in my head six years later. Just one of my favorite videos bc of the nostalgia(yes ik it is dark, but I did really realize that when I was 11, I just enjoyed Jack's energy lol)

There are several possible interpretations but the one that makes most sense to me is the religion version. I'm not a devout Christian but it got me thinking a lot. Salvador is Spanish (I think) for "saviour" - Jesus. He dies as he frees you from the prison cell. Also in one of his letters he calls himself the Master Woodworker - Jesus was a woodsmith in his human time, son of Joseph who was also a woodsmith. The prison cell represents this world, our world, where it's ruled by money ("money survives all hardship"). We may think we are free to do what we want but in reality we're living the life of superficiality - playing games on consoles, mindlessly spending time in entertainment - with no clear ultimate purpose. Charlotte is people in need of help but we often don't reach them in time because we're too blinded by our own prison cells. Dr Money I assume represents the Devil - the Bible mentions that the world is ruled by him. His virus that he releases to kill humans is "sin" that prevents people from meeting Salvador again and is what causes the main character - you - to be stuck inside a cell. In the other ending we find out that Dr Money was only protecting you so that he could sell your organs and get profit, same as how we are kept distracted with entertainment so that we can be abused by him in Hell I guess. Whether you're religious or not, it gets you thinking - what do you live for?

I just found out the developer of this game committed suicide and I'm heartbroken. The Last sentence of this game in Charlotte's letter hit me so hard because that was the developer talking I feel. He had a talent for making great story telling games about real life issues! May he rest in paradise. ❤️🕊️ Remember everyone you're not alone. He has been my antidepressant and has helped me when I thought there wasn't any point in continuing.
