If we tried to do this today the screams of "socialism" would drown out any dreams this country would have to look forward and build modern infrastructure. This visionary project was an investment in productivity and access. Look at Europe and China and Japan now, they have 300+ kph trains -- we've forgotten how to dream and make progress.
One correction for this comment that was made 9 years ago. High speed trains in China or a disaster because of government corruption. The vast majority of the tracks don't go to any populations. The one person dictator who makes all major decisions had no idea what he was doing nor the current one either. Trying to build massive cities on farmland far away from each other but it fell apart because there are no jobs in these super cities that are now ghost towns for the most part. So the bullet trains in China basically don't even function because of cars that were ordered that don't work on the tracks and tracks that were built wrong to begin with. As with everything in China, it turned into a complete failure all because of the dictator government that is hell been on taking over the world and failing at that and failing its people. All they do is repress any new ideas so they cannot advance without being give to them then they can't make it work. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
