After all he has nothing to apologize for. If you apologize just to avoid drama or conflict even if the other one is in the wrong, then you jsut justify bad behaviour, that guy did right and stood up to bullies who want to force others to agree with their world view. My cheers to the guy.
“You gotta understand how dangerous it is to lie to people just so they feel good. To start ignoring the truth just so people feel better: that is dangerous!” Well said brother.
@@ACHVACTAB1 the truth, CNN just panders you people’s beliefs. One main situation I can recall is when the college student at her graduation started talking about the Texas abortion law, and but while the person on CNN didn’t agree with her wanting abortion to be done and easier they just made it seem like they did without fully saying they did. CNN is all about narratives and propaganda, they don’t care about facts
This happens in right leaning corporate press too. It’s better to find specific journalists, writers, public intellectuals, podcasters, RU-vid channel hosts, etc etc on both sides that you feel honestly represent themselves. It’s easier to judge the honesty of a single individual than a network.
It would have been better if instead of simply not apologizing had said something like "I'm sorry you can't handle the truth". That would have been just epic. 700th place is pretty generous anyway. The US olympic women's soccer team was beaten by a team of 15 year old boys. That would imply that the number of men better than the top women in anything athletic probably isn't a number in the hundreds, it's a number in the MILLIONS.
Or better yet, he could have apologized to the 701st best man on Earth by suggesting Serena Williams would be better than him. Oh that would have been great.
Well, if he just randomly started comparing Serena with males, it would be inappropriate because it's entirely unflattering and there is no reason to do it. However, they forced him to say his opinion on the topic. They tightened a noose around his neck and told him to jump. Him being older dude, he was completely unaware that he was dealing with vicious journalism and took the bait. They used him to produce "scandal" for views not caring in the slightest that people will want to cancel him for that. I wouldn't be surprised that they used Serena as well and that she wasn't given the full context before she replied probably thinking he was just being mean to her for no reason.
This guy is clearly NOT trying to be malicious here. He’s former best in the world who clearly knows his sport. They are trying to make a bad guy out of him and he just genuinely seems confused by it.
A couple of things, first of all what language is this? I understood McEnroe and the interviewers but the poster is speaking way too fast and I've never heard anybody axe a question. Second, Margaret Court is irrefutably the greatest tennis player of all time. 24 single titles, 19 double titles and 21 mixed doubles titles, total 64 grand slam titles. In some slams she won the singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the same event. Why is Serena Williams even in the same conversation.
@@georgesutton9556 I never knew they went out of their way to ask why he said BEST FEMALE of all time...I thought he just randomly said she would be 700th. What the fuck is the problem then?
@@georgesutton9556 LOL...no, Court is NOT the greatest player ever. Second, Williams HAS played in majors and won both singles and doubles. 3rd....what part where you having trouble understanding? I mean...setting aside the different eras and how few women played, all titles from before the open era are a joke. She won the Australian "Championships," not open because they didn't invite ANYONE who wasn't Australian to play! That's how silly this is. I don't know if you just googled Court or why you don't understand the guy speaking, but ya kinda sound like a clown.
@@xiijinpingthesupremeleader1349 with what? COURT being the best? She's not even close. 11 of her "Grand Slams" were just Australian Championships that has 32 people and almost all of them were from Australia. In fact 13 of her titles are from the open period at all, a clear line of demarcation...then add the Australian Open...which was a joke at that point, she's not even CLOSE to one of the greats. So.....so far below Graff, Williams, Martina...etc...etc...
Great podcast man. How suave is John while standing his ground. Guy is gifted with his wit while being brutally honest. My all time favorite tennis personality.
These women are bullies. As if to say he's not entitled to his opinion. What a joke. Woke at its finest. Shameful. Good for you John for standing your ground and not caving to this BS
I knew the lefty looney media was crazy, but still I just sat there with my jaw open when they repeatedly tried to get him to apologize for his honesty. It would be like a group of men telling a woman she needs to apologize for saying a man can't get pregnant. No wonder there are so many sick people in society when kids hear this type of stuff at a young age. It's all very disturbing.
This is insane. As a woman the fact that I’m physically less strong than men doesn’t offend me the slightest. I love being a woman and there are beautiful unique qualities that are innately feminine too.
@Harvey Spellman While it would be nice to just ignore them and move on with our lives, we really can't do that. The fact that this discussion is even taking place shows why we can't ignore them anymore. Us ignoring them when they first started this mess is why we're here today. We should've set them straight from the first time they started!
@Harvey Spellman Pretty sure Serena would win every single point against you, and except for a 1000 or so elite male tennis player, every other male in tennis on planet earth. 3.5 billion (that is a really big big number).
Serena herself said on a late night TV show she couldn’t compete with the men when asked to play Andy Murray in a demonstration match, because she would probably lose 6-0,6-0 in about 20 minutes, and would be very embarrassed. She also lost in straight sets to some male pro ranked around 320, losing in straight sets. I wasn’t a big fan of McEnroe and his behavior when he was a pro, but I appreciate his honesty and candor now.
I’m a woman and I’m so glad John didn’t apologize! He’s right and he didn’t say anything wrong! Gail king is ridiculous with this narrative she’s pushing. God created men to be bigger, faster and stronger and I love it this way!
There's inherent pros and cons to being a man and a woman and our pros are supposed to complement one another. We are equal in rights and opportunities now (in western society at least) but that doesn't mean we are equal in our physical biology / our instinctual hardwiring. Equal means the same. Though we share many similar traits, men and women are also vastly different as nature intended.
@Ma Khi Sure, but you're referring to more specific traits that can vary and be molded more person to person depending on their upbringing, environment, social experiences (personality, values, ect.). I'm referring to general consensus primitive biology. There's always exceptions to the rule, but typically the man is physically stronger than the woman and has a natural inclination to provide and protect for her and any offspring they have. This is a complement to the woman that she wouldn't have independently. The woman on the other hand typically is more nurturing and provides motivation for the man whether directly and/or indirectly with her feminine energy. The personality, appearance and values determine relationship compatibility but certain qualities based on gender alone are typically universal.
Norah O’Donnell: “I’m just waiting, would you like to apologize?” John McEnroe: “Uhh, no.” Good for you John, for not only speaking the truth but believing in what you say.
A lot of people believe in what they say and still apologize because of the pressure and risk of getting cancelled and fired… apologizing is like surrendering
Serena telling him to respect her privacy. He was responding to a question put to him, and she only says something to him because he said something she didn't like.
@@jaymike3302 Yes, but poor John was put under incredible pressure from those three ' woke' panel members for even daring to say that Serena Williams couldn't beat men ranked in the top 300(?). They were unrelenting in their support of the prevailing social engineering agenda which says that women are as good as men at doing anything. John was forced into a position where he had to be seen to offering some consolation to ' inferior' women tennis players to avoid accusations of misogyny and the abuse coming his way. He wasn't really lying , the panel bullied him into making the comment.
Serena and her sister once said they could beat anyone outside 200 in mens then someone ranked 203 destroyed them and they stopped accepting challenges
One of these days they’re going to ban competitive sport at all levels to spare people the realisation that they can be less than the best at something at this rate. It already happens in some at junior levels. Ridiculous. It was also kind of sickening how they all pressured him into conforming to their social politics and when he humoured them they all chuckled and decided to be nice like a bunch of evil creatures.
Thank you Bro! You hit it all on the spot! This was a ridiculous interview! John McEnroe stood his ground like a normal man telling fact, and not give in to make these people feel good. No, facts are facts!
Aslong as you tell the truth & state the actual facts no matter what anybody says they can't argue with that. They back themselves into a corner knowing they are wrong & in private will think that. Well done John for telling the truth & the facts. Most of us decent people were brought up to be honest & tell the truth but this new wave of virtue signalling nonsense is attempting to destroy that. Fortunately the majority of us aren't falling for it. Never apologies when you are correct & state the truth.
Had a conversation with a D1 track athlete. She didn’t know I ran track, and still do competitively. I turn 50 next year. She runs 11.1. She was going on about men and women being equal. So, I met her at the track one day. I told her I only train for the 100m while training my two kids. At 49 years old, I beat her in the 100 in front of her coach. I then walked to my bag and pulled out my clippings from 1983, when I was 11 years old. I showed her the times she is running now is the times I ran at 11 years old nearly 35 years ago, and please don’t say men and women are equal when it comes to sports. We are equal in mind only in the workplace, not in athletics. Don’t get confused. If you can’t beat a 49 year old dude who only trains three times a week, how the hell could you beat a 21 year old, athletically prime,l man??? Stop it!!!
Okay I think you must have mistyped 14 years old because running EQUAL to 11.1 seconds for the 100m would be faster than the current record for 11-12 year olds (I looked it up) by over a whole second.
I (male) ran 11.1 at 15 years old. I did not train for this, I was just training to become a semi-professional footballplayer (tbc: soccer). I was ... let me take some time to calculate ... 5 ft 7 in and 183 lbs (so on the short and heavier side, but very muscular) an did not train even once. Just went there, had probably a late start and got a very fast time. The time would have qualified me for the national championship (in fact the winner of that championship ran 10.78 in the final, if I remember right). I'm sure in the US I would've been scouted by some track&field or even football coach, in Germany just no one at my school cared. Only my PE teacher told me he was surprised that I was that fast, but never made clear that it was at top of the country and that I could maybe become professional, if I would start training. It's kind of sad how many potential athletes are never "scouted"

People are having problems with the meaning of equality even man between man is not equal not even going in between races even man between same race are not equal and can't be DNA doesn't work that way and even now as our science allows us normally unacceptable mutations to continue their life's so when comparing in at least sports with body types considered black man white man black woman white woman if you include body techniques before woman's comes asian man than asian woman still only talking about total output it still can be overcome with training and other stuff but if a black man and white man does the same training black man will bulldoze the little guy thats just basic genetics if asian guy is trained in body movement techniques black guy won't be able to touch him again basic genetics there is no superior race or gender only superior genes and trying to put woman in front of 80kg 1.90 guy is like putting a chick in front of whatever it is called that you use to cut grass in the garden
I once had a confrontation about the topic with a feminist. I come from a 10 years experience in kickboxing and told her that the difference between male and female is very obvious but she insisted so I invited her to look together the results of the javelin throw (or any sports where we could compare numbers) of the last 10 Olympic games to see that female gold medalists always throw shorter than the last of the men. She had to reluctantly admit I was right.
Please don't argue with them again. Just see through bs and say a random phrase that will be completely unrelated to the topic. Nothing destroys them more than not feeding into the subject they are raising. I say this because when you fall for the bait and put your educated opinion and back it up with facts, they will call you sexist.
Serina Williams herself said that she could not compete against male players, on Letterman August 22, 2013. She said that the men are bigger, stronger and faster. Sounds like an informed, expert, opinion, unlike the interviewers in this video.
@@Pipping-Hot Very true, why should anyone apologize for acknowledging that men and women have different strengths? And Gayle irks me so much, isn't her former boss one of the richest woman in America? How is there inequality between the two genders?
She said, "why say female why not just greatest tennis player" already started that conversation on a feminist level.... smdh. Imagine Serena W. vs John McEnroe during his prime., Wtf😂🤣
The fact that he stood up to her when she asked if he wanted to apologize when he knew he had done nothing wrong, says a whole lot about his character. I respect the shit out of that.
The fact that they asked him if he wanted to apologize despite them knowing he'd not done anything wrong says a whole lot about their character. John McEnroe, a real legend in his field of expertise.
@Vladimir Slapko as a libtard, I completely disagree. I actually completely agree with everything John said. I agree with the owner of this channel, too. First time here, so I don't know his name. In my thinking, one of the biggest challenges we have right now is communication. We suck. Pretty much all of us. We all would benefit from an education in respectful, effective communication. As the you tube guy said, we need to have these difficult conversations. Those conversations would have so much more potential if we had more skill in communication. Name calling is always counter productive, in my opinion. Someone, somewhere is gleeful that the little people are at each other's throats. Interesting time to be alive. Best to you.
Kinda wish he would've said something like. " Why would I do that? For what?" Dig back on these aholes a little bit. These types need it. They really do.
I loved McEnroe because he was an America and great player. But he has the worst personality that ever picked up a Tennis racket.. If he was black he would have put out of tennis.
Do you want to apologize for telling the truth!!!?? Say that again-- do you want to apologize for telling the truth? Say it again! -- do you want to apologize for telling the truth WTF
Years ago, when someone else suggested to Serena Williams that she could play the men, she said so herself that she could not compete with the top men!! She said it was a different game altogether!
if its in a debate then no never apologize. if its in a personal talk and it never needed to be said as well as meant to be rude not helpful then yea say sorry. not need to be rude when stating a fact. btw i mean say sorry for being rude not stating the fact. the way you word things is just as important as the facts you state. if you word is poorly then its taken out of context and can be misinterpreted which would be worse than when stating a fact. presentation is key to everything when in a political or normal debate. facts secondary to that.

The media and right wingers have taken the word “woke” from the black conscious community and perverted it into something it was never a semblance of what it is today! Your comment is 100% accurate otherwise.
@Nik Palmira i read somewhere that both Serena and her sister lost to a drunk tennis player quite easily. Not sure if true but damn that would be embarrassing if it was.
@Nik Palmira Two separate things. This is about explosive power, not how many arm curls you can do. McEnroe never had a muscular stature, but he dominated men's tennis.
He knows things he says aren’t PC. He just doesn’t care and he won’t apologize. This is what I like about him. Tired of weak men apologizing for things they said.
The average boys high school team has 10 of 12 guys who can grab the rim and have 2 guys who can dunk. Even in high school they play above the rim. WNBA has two women in the entire league who can dunk. An average boys high school team would get 80-90% of all rebounds and beat a WNBA team by 30 points. A good high school boys team would beat the WNBA champions by 50+

They kept insisting they could beat us, and after repeatedly telling them there was no conceivable scenario in which that would ever happen, we finally gave in. The coaches reffed the game. About 10 years ago, I was playing ball at my local 24hr fitness like we did every Sunday morning. My team had been dominating all morning. Next I had a young college girl who played "small town" college ball guard me. I absolutely obliterated her. I was just bigger, faster and stronger. Not a brag by any means just the truth. And I never played basketball in high school; just recreationally.
The women's soccer national team (which is one of the two or three top teams in the world ) lost many times against the men's under 15s. You can be great at the sport but if everyone is faster and stronger, you cannot compete.
Along time ago when I was in middle school, there was a rare occasion where the girls wanted to play against the boys with no handicaps. The boys wanted to play dodgeball. The girls wanted kickball, which none of the boys knew how to play, so we played them learning the rules as we went. The boys lost in the end. After that all the boys wanted a rematch, and for PE and recess we played kickball to better understand the game and get the skills. Eventually we had our rematch. I remember the score even today, 66-10 favor the boys. Good times.
As a woman I’m fed up with this never ending debate about women vs men. Women need to STOP competing with men, STOP belittling and degrading men, STOP demanding men apologise for their views and beliefs, STOP demanding men be less masculine while demanding women become more masculine. There’s an evil agenda for men and women to switch roles, to destroy our traditional roles and biological makeup, hence the traditional family unit.

The sad fact is that if they did indeed "combine" the sport and eliminate the separation between men's and women's tennis, the exact same people who are complaining about what McEnroe said would be complaining that its sexist to make women play against men.
But this is exactly what sjws should want because having a separate women's league suggest women can't compete with the men. Perhaps there should be just one sports league open to all men, women, and transgenders and if you're not good enough or good enough to make the team, then you simply don't get to participate.
