You are the man. Just in time. I definitely planned on getting this setup for factory interior speakers.

@Amundred Man installing this radio has been an experience to say the least!! And I'll apologize ahead for the semi long read, if you decide not to read everything you won't hurt my feelings lol. Anyways, so I installed the radio/power pack the other day right before I posted the first time. Everything was working well, except for the power steering controls weren't working. And honestly, it wasn't even a huge deal at first, or so I thought. Was just happy to be able to listen to music via Bluetooth since I still had the OG factory head unit in since I've owned the truck. Auxiliary port crapped out on mr last summer so I've pretty much been without tunes since. So at first I said screw it, don't really need steering wheel controls, but pretty quickly you realize they come in handy when you're trying to change the volume or track when driving and trying to use a touch screen without taking your eyes off the road. So I pull the dash back apart and try to figure out what's going on. Apparently I had the wrong switch on the interface box selected since they decided that down=on and up=off. So I select the right switch, put the dash back together, everything's good. But after listening to music for a few days, I'm not very impressed with what I'm hearing. Still have the factory speakers in my doors at this point but was expecting for it to sound a little better, I mean, I dunno what the wattage is on a stock head unit but surely it's much less than this beast, and truthfully it didn't sound much louder or clearer than when I had the factory unit in. So I'm sitting here thinking and I realize exactly what I had done, and it was an incredibly stupid mistake to make; when connecting the wiring harnesses, I was almost 100% certain I hooked the speaker wires from the head unit to the speaker wires of the harness going to the factory instead of using the KTA-450 speaker wires. So I pull the dash apart, yet again, and sure enough, yep, I used the wrong speaker wires. So I fix it again, put the head unit back in the dash but this time I was smart enough not to put my dashboard back together right away. Turned on the head unit and now I had no sound!! So I have no idea what's going on at this point, checked all my wires, everything looked good, yet no music. Long story short, somethings up with the remote wire from the head unit, if I touch the remote wires together my amp kicks on but only for about 3 seconds then it cuts off. I decide to connect the KTA-450 remote wire to the red wire going to the factory harness and it works perfectly. So I dunno what the deal with the remote wire is, never dealt with this issue before.

@crimsontide1980 Man...that sounds...annoying to say the least! 😲 Well...you have a few options. You could always run a remote wire from a non head unit source. There are fuse taps that strap onto a fuse in the fuse block (pick a fuse that is only hot when the ignition is on). amzn.to/499Np54 Or, you could wire up a relay to your vehicle (a bit more involved than a simple fuse tap) and set up the relay to provide the remote turn on. I would also just double, or triple check that you are using a remote turn on wire and not a remote antenna wire from the head unit. Keep me updated or feel free to ask more questions!

Quick question for demo reasons only how do I hook up my parking brake relay? I bought a red wolf relay off of Amazon and it has 4 wires. A green red blue and black. I'm assuming black goes to ground and blue goes to remote but the other two I'm not so sure of. If you have any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Awesome video by the way. Doing the same setup in my jeep. 😎

Did it happen to come with a piece of paper which says which wire is for the parking brake (which color)? One of the wires would be the parking brake wire which connects to the parking brake cable on the deck...the other is either not going to be used, or will be the brake pedal wire (depending on the head unit). The Alpine deck parking brake wire color may be yellow/blue (if it is not labeled). I am not familiar with that brand (Red Wolf) and tried to find a diagram, but couldn't locate one to give you a more precise answer.

hey man I'm installing this on saturday or sunday , do you have two extra rca connections for the sub or how you get the signal going to the sub? . thank you !!!!
@Amundred
@Amundred 4 месяца назад
I used the sub outputs on the head unit - the deck I used had 6 RCA outs - Front/Rear/Sub
@crimsontide1980
@crimsontide1980 8 месяцев назад
So when I'm wiring everything up, I run the power, ground, and constant 12 volt (yellow), twist each wire together with the corresponding wire from the head unit and the wiring harness kit (red to red, yellow to yellow, black to black) do the same with the remote wire(blue/white from amp to blue/white from head unit) plug the RCA wires going from the amp(white to left front, gray to right front, green to left rear, purple to right rear) and then wire the amp directly to the corresponding wires of the harness kit? In other words, I dont even need to strip the speaker wires from the head unit harness since Im using an amp, they would remain unused, correct?

Hello, great video! I have an 09 CTS with Alpine ilx 650. Dealing with annoying hiss all the time! Not sure what causes this. This why your changing amp? Any help would be greatly appreciated
@Amundred
@Amundred Год назад
Yes! The hiss is so annoying! I am not sure why the Bose system tends to do this...maybe just all of the different pieces together pushing the signal to the amp cause this issue? Possibly the signal processor/interior mic issue with an aftermarket deck? Bypassing the Bose amp did eliminate the hiss. I did have alternator wine with the Alpine amp and had to try multiple ground points to address the issue. I did end up running another ground wire from the grounding point to the battery to help with the wine.afyer this install was complete 👍

Thanks so much for the information, I was also going to try the Alpine Amp 450, was just going to use speakers and sub that's in car (assuming sub is factory) and just came across video of you rolling with Alpine 450 amp. Everything fit ok? Your video of amp in truck was for better speakers /amp? Thanks a lot for all you help, Alpine made it sound like I would have to replace all speakers and sub 🤬
@Amundred
@Amundred Год назад
I would recommend replacing the speakers in the door due to Bose speakers having uncommon impedance levels which could potentially damage an amp. You could potentially keep the factory sub...by wiring the head unit outputs to the factory speaker wires and then running completely new wires from the Alpine amp to the door speakers. The bypass video shows how to bypass the Bose amp to wire up an aftermarket amp to aftermarket speakers at the factory amp location. This would also be where you would wire in a LOC for an aftermarket sub/amp combo if needed - I would just run RCAs from the Alpine deck for a sub through as opposed to going through all of the work for a LOC.

HEY MAN QUESTION IM A LITTLE CONFUSED THE SPEAKER WIRES THAT ARE HOOKED UP CURRENTLY TO MY RADIO CUT THOSE AND CONNECT THEM TO THE AMP ?
@Amundred
@Amundred 4 месяца назад
If you are using the factory head unit - it depends on what you are doing. If you are wanting to bypass the factory amp and use an aftermarket one, then yes, you could do it that way. Then you would run new speaker wires to the speakers. Aftermarket head unit - utilize the RCA outputs to the amp and then run wires to the speakers
@carlito977
@carlito977 4 месяца назад
Oh okay yes a couple of days ago I installed a alpine ilx-650 on my vehicle so from what I understand is I can leave the speaker wires alone from the aftermarket radio to my speakers and just hook up the Rca cables from the amp to my ilx head unit
@Amundred
@Amundred 4 месяца назад
@@carlito977 yeah, literally the easiest thing to do is run the wires from the amp to the speakers - you can splice into the wires after the factory amp in the rear or straight to the doors 👍

Amundred you make some great videos...! 👍🏻 I have a 07 Ext Escalade it died the other day... it has over 233000 miles on it.. been a fantastic truck so I replaced the fuel pump which is in the fuel tank and the Fuel filter is with the fuel pump in the tank... I've replaced the fuel pump relay, starter relay and the Ignition switch (not the key lock) and by the way when the truck died I had just filled the tank and it holds 34 gallons of fuel so I realized that under the back seat drivers side I took a grinder with a cutting wheel and made a door in the floor and there was the Electric Fuel Pump very easy way to replace the fuelpump so I didn't have to drop the tank... anyways do you have any ideas what could be causing my truck to die?
@Amundred
@Amundred Год назад
So it turns over? Do you have a code reader? Has spark?
@mrdeanv4414

@Amundred yes it will start right up and run but after it worms up it wants to die when waiting at a red light or a stop sign.. and no I have no code reader..

@@mrdeanv4414 does it actually die or does it just seem like it is going to die? Can you keep it running?
@Amundred

@@mrdeanv4414 I have an '07 Silverado that had a sort of similar issue awhile back...it would die after the truck idled down from cold start...ended up being the purge valve on top of the engine.
@mrdeanv4414
@mrdeanv4414 Год назад
@Amundred no usually I'm lucky enough to slip it into neutral and give it some gas and then put it back in gear and go... my wife hit a dear a few months back so the truck was in the paint and body shop for about 6-7 weeks but we just got it back on March 9th and it died 8 blocks from the house

2:29 my instructions say pin 6 should be up for speaker and down for RCA. 🤔
@Amundred

Double check the Instructions and compare to the amp (should be labeled on amp as well) - I would definitely put it in the position that you need (RCA or speaker)

@@Amundred I just made a huge discovery. I’ve actually had my amp tuned all wrong. When I hooked it up about a year ago along with the ILX570 it sounded SO damn good compared to the trash I had previously that it never occurred to me that I should tune it. I had my HPF set to 120Hz front and rear 🤦‍♂️ As for the input though, 6 down is definitely RCA on mine. What makes it so confusing is the fact that the numbers printed below the actual switches are upside down. So what I initially thought was down is actually up. In reality the orientation of the numbers should be ignored. Down is definitely RCA on mine. I just switched it from up to down and adjusted my HPF to 80Hz and HOLY CRAP! I had no idea how much performance I was leaving on the table.
