I recorded this from "House of Blues in West Hollywood on 07/10/2011.
I was so very happy to see Joe & Steve's playing in person.
"Always with me always with you" is my all time favorite song of Joe Satriani since I was a teenager. I could say this song changed my life since then.
Hope you guys enjoy this video as much as I do.

Says you. As for Steve Vai, he's never been ashamed or tried to hide it. As a matter of fact he's very proud to have been tought by Joe, and even has a special name for it. He calls it the "VaiAdvantage", as can be seen in his instructional video at truefire dot com.

Exactly. I’ve always laughed when people say “Joe’s better cuz he taught Steve!” Joe was literally learning stuff and teaching it to Steve a few days later. They were always right along side each other.

Those who are saying that Satriani is technically poor, should stop listening to guitar. They should also not pass comments and make a fool of themselves. Joe is one of the most technically sound guitarists, if not the best. Many of the world's top guitarists, including Vai and Petrucci, have accepted Satriani's superiority. That should be enough to keep some ignorant mouth shut.

Those on here taking seriously any comment against Joe's skill need to begin to understand that the comment was quite obviously created only for conflict. Therefore you, the one complaining about it, lack the inner focus and strength to simply BE in your knowledge and opinions. You also lack the faith in the rest of humanity seeing these comments for what they are and summarily dismissing them. This very lack of faith in humanity is one of the greatest self-feeding, denegrating qualities of society today. You have taken the troll's bait, hook line and sinker, and have therefore failed the life test that was in front of you.

Eddie thanks for posting this. My wife and I loved thiis song. She died this past December. Crying listening to it. Vai walking on and playing with Satch is really something special too.

Summer of '88, my best friend and I spent hours and hours at night laying on the hood of the car, watching the stars, drinking beer, and playing this album over and over and over. We were best friends for almost 40 years. He lost his battles with his demons this past November and took his own life. I'm going to see Satch/Vai in May. When this song plays there will be at least one 55 year old grandpa bawling his eyes out.

Neither guitars were made by Ibanez. They have their own luthiers make them and they are signed with Ibanez.

Dang. This video makes me smile so much! Two of my favorite guitar players jamming together like this is awesome, and on Always With Me, Always With You to boot. One of my favorite songs. One of the coolest parts is when they start playing back to back. I've read how they used to jam like this when they were younger, when Joe was giving Steve guitar lessons. Maybe a bit after, but around that timeframe Very cool. Thanks for posting this!

I don't need them to be perfect everytime, because it reminds me that nobody is perfect. They made a really big thing in guitar world, they are genius musicans, they composed best guitar melodies I know, and they keep me playing my gitar. I'll love them forever.

Nobody's talking about how Joe Satriani was Steve Vai's guitar teacher back in the day..Steve talked about it in an interview sometime ago...about how he showed up at Joe's house with his busted up guitar and how Joe was very serious and gave him guitar "homework"to do each time..
