GDR did expose Nunes and proved that if you stand and bang rather than back up and curl up, Nunes can be had with proper striking. It's risky but if you weather or evade her initial strikes while landing your own, she begins to panic. Pena, although not as proficient a striker, took advantage of that and got good results.
Well Germaine is an undefeated muay thai striker and is bigger and has a reach advantage, Amanda did what made sense and got the w she could be dumb and strike for 5 rounds like holly holm but you probably won’t win. People have got in her face and weren’t scared of her like Germaine Valentina and cris cyborg but nunes knocked her out, Peña fought the worst Amanda nunes and you can’t lie she did look off from the start and was gassedin just one round of wrestling and she wrestled 5 rounds with Germaine and was never gassed that badly which means something went wrong in her training camp when she fought Germaine nunes did get hit with big shots but her cardio didn’t abandon her and she was able to keep going, when Peña fought her she gassed in one round which is her biggest weakness.

@@darkcadence938 I never said Amanda was a wrestler, she is a better wrestler than Germaine and knew she had an advantage, so she did what she needed to do and walked out champ. Like I said it wouldn’t make sense for nunes to try and stand with an undefeated 46-0 striker when nunes is the better mixed martial artist . And nunes has wrestled alot more than she did with Peña like Felicia spencer and never gassed out if you see nunes in the second round you can see how tired and slow she was so obviously something went wrong with her cardio.

Germaine gave Amanda a world of problems on the feet. Pena was right Germaine is a better striker than Nunes..Nunes was severely out classed on the feet in this one..even getting most of her stuff blocked on the ground. Amanda started respecting Germaine on the feet so she smartly took it to the ground and dominated Germaine on the ground which was the hole in her game imo. Find a way to win and thats what Nunes did.

Hell yeah Germaine said she laid on top of me made it a very boring fight and I’m happy we feel the same I like to see knockouts, combos, head kicks yes slams but when you hug and lay on the ground the whole match it’s kinda boring
It's funny how the ufc has zero interest in doing rematch of nunes where she really has the potential to lose Germaine and Valentina are two of thw fighters who can dethrone her
@Jane Noordpool she can. just look at the stats between holly and GDR, it was very close compared to valentina vs holly. and valentina is a good counter striker. The only thing is that GDR is just taller and has a reach advantage. If they were on the same size, valentina would whoop her ass easily.
@Jane Noordpool I don't about that. I have to agree that dern is really good at BJJ but valentina is also good on the ground, she is judo black belt. She also submits peña which is ground specialist and has a size advantage compared to valentina. It speaks how good valentina is. But valentina will obviously beat dern in MMA. Dern can't even submit marina, tecia and ribas. Her BJJ only works on lower rank fighters.
If Amanda were bald, I think Germaine's toes would've broken from that head kick. The hair cushioned it. Would've been a spectacular KO if the shin connected.
Amanda is a beast but her standup can't compare to De Randamie's standup. The only woman she has wrestled to win. I remember this fight, started as good striking but soon turned to wrestling. Hey, but it is MMA after all.
