I rewatched fellowship of the ring today. The extended edition. Such an amazing piece of cinematography. I'm so glad it got made 20 years ago and we can have it forever and modern woke crap can't ruin it.

I'm Palestinian and The Lord of the Rings was one of the first book series I read as I was learning English. I NEVER needed it to be more accessible. It is such a shallow point of view, to believe with such assertiveness that people can only be inspired by fictional characters who look like them.

This garbage is "inspired" by Tolkien the same way that Jeffrey Dahmer was inspired by medical science.

The part where Galadriel was lifted by the sword of her boyfriend into the Ice troll saying "say hello to my little friend", then boyfriend elf announced he was transitioning-to-orc made me cry tears of joy. Stunning!

The part where Aragorn sees the ring and says “Look at the settle off-white coloring, the tasteful thickness of it, oh my god It even has a watermark” Really moved me

That soap opera intro for “The Young And The Elvish” is hilarious.

"Baggins-like yearning for adventure." Baggins were exactly known for not going on adventures or doing anything unexpected. Bilbo's wanderlust came from his mother's side of the family, the Tooks, who were known for going on adventures. As for Frodo, I don't recall if he ever wanted to go on adventures in the books but he was more a victim of circumstance anyway.

My expectations were already sky-high, but when Galadriel fought a troll and then the frame froze with her going "Oh that? That's me. Heh, you probably wonder how I got here... let's start from scratch, shall we?", I knew I was in for a truly captivating experience

The bit where Galadriel goes up to Elrond and says "give me your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle" was profound. 5/5 show, certainly no cringe...

You know they don't know anything about Tolkien or the "legendarium" because they said her zest for adventure was "Baggins-like" instead of "Took-like." Bilbo & Frodo's inclination to look beyond their own garden gates came from their Tookish heritage. It's also why Pippin was so inclined to go off with them. I really hate fake fans. This is how my coworkers must feel when i try to feign interest in basketball.

I loved the part when Elrond told Galadriel "Sauron is a man of focus, commitment and sheer will. I once saw him kill 3 men in a pub with a pencil. With a fucking pencil!" It really drives home to the audience the threat that Sauron represents for Middle Earth.

The part where Eomer rips off his helmet and proclaims "I identify as a woman" before the Witch King eats the sour patch kids sent chills down my spine.

Loved the moment when Galadriel said "Hasta la vista baby" to Frodo as they part ways. Poetic cinema 😢

When Sauron said "The ring is literal perfection.", then Galadriel said "It will be. When it fits a woman."... I got goosebumps.

When Bilbo said "It's Baggin' time!" Literal chills. When Gandalf yelled " Get to the Eagle!", so iconic. The moment when Sauron took off his helmet and Elrond said " You are one... UGLY... mofo" and then Sauron roared. When Galadrel said, "We need to nuke the mines of Moria, it's the only way to be sure." Or that time she turned her back on Sauron, then turned around and took off her helmet and said, "I am Galadriel Meridius Decimus, Commander of the armies of the North, leader of the Mirkwood legion, wife of a murdered dwarf, birthing person of a murdered Harfoot, and I will have my vengeance in this season, or the next" I literally dropped my popcorn.

The part where Sauron said, "If you want the real Slim Shady please stand up" and the nine ring wraiths stood up, it gave me chills.

When Galadriel screeched “ITS MORBIN TIME” I lost my shit. 10/10

The part where Sauron tweeted to his entire army and said… “Be inclusive, be respectful and honor everybody’s pronouns no matter what” Was so heartfelt.

I love the fact we've gone from "an adaptation" of Tolkien, to "based on", tolkien, and finally now we're at "inspired by" tolkien. what's next: "has nothing at all todo with tolkien" Well I suppose that would be accurate!

9:54 "To make this Franchise accesible for all Generations" Let me tell you a Story: Last week I went to the movies with my 9-year-old sister who has seen the Hobbit Movies first (which she loved) to go to an Event that showed the uncut 3 1/2 hour version of the Fellowship of the Ring. She was absolutely amazed and fascinated, and I have never experienced a 9-year-old being so invested in a movie that was so long. She loves LOTR and the Hobbit. We don't need the Rings of Empowerment for new Generations.

The part when Dumbledore came back to life and travelled to Mordorbius to face Sauron in mortal kombat and say to him "It's Tolkien time" was truly one of the moments in the series.

It really got me when Elrond said "There are two kinds of people in Middle Earth; those with loaded bows and those who dig. You dig." Tears in my eyes.

When Sauron demanded to know her name and she took off her helmet, turned and said “My name is Galadrius Decimus Meridius”. Chills.

They never did anything out of the ordinary. Bilbo craved adventure because of the Took in him. This is a fact that everyone that has seen the first movie in the least should know.

After suffering through this abomination, in hindsight I think that this show hasn’t ruined Lord of the Rings or Tolkien’s legacy, because this show was so bad I don’t consider it part of the franchise at all. In fact this trash made The Hobbit trilogy better for me when I ended up rewatching the prequels after watching Amazon’s awful fan fiction disaster. So Amazon can keep wasting money on seasons 2 through 10. I won’t even bother watching. I don’t recommend anyone else watching it either. All it does is give Amazon more viewer ratings and insults the true fans. We shouldn’t even be talking about it. Rings of Power isn’t LOTR, it isn’t Tolkien, it’s just some garbage on Amazon.

Just imagine how completely vacuous you would have to be to celebrate the “representation” of a fictional character. I felt my eyes start to stay at the back of my head from all the eye-rolling I did from the clips you showed. I hate these overmanly, overpowered female characters!!! It's a deservice to Galadriel, Arwen and Eowyn who were powerful and strong and remained feminine!!! Keep women characters as is!!! They became relatable because of their own personality! Not a modernized , toxic feminist sh*t that the woke keep spewing! I hope the show loses billions of dollars to stop this atrocity!!!!

I always think its very funny that every thing they "reboot/remake/reinvent" is for "new fans" yet they all have the same problem, those "new fans" only exist in their imagination. And we all know how little imagination they have...

This makes me realize Lord of the Rings would've never been made today. It just couldn't. I honestly can barely believe how lucky we've got. It was filmed late enough to have proper special effects and other cinematic qualities, but early enough to escape PCs ever-present fingers. I'm buying another copy right now and sealing it in a metal cage for future generations. A miracle like that will probably never happen again.

I like how the actress that plays the "First female dwarf to appear on screen in a Tolkein film" doesn't know that there were female dwarves in Peter Jackson's 2012 "The Hobbit". Must have been because their beards made them indistinguishable from the male dwarves. 😏

The part where Sauron talks to the elves who have his daughter stating 'But what I do have, is a very particular set of Rings' gives me the chills every time. So true to the lore that J.R.R. Martin created

The part when Frodo is standing over the fires of mount doom contemplating destroying the one ring or not, when stops and looks at the camera and says "i love lamp"..........moved me to tears.

After this show releases, it marks the moment just about every franchise from my childhood has been ruined by some corporation. Gotta love it.

When Sam threw Sauron off Nakatomi Tower and as he fell Sauron said "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... You know, I can remember going to see movies like, The Color Purple, Coming To America, Friday, and Boyz N The Hood and never once did I think, "I just can't enjoy this movie because there's no one that looks like me". I mean, I'm a white male who has seen thousands of movies in my lifetime, and it has never once crossed my mind to question the racial makeup of the cast of any particular movie. If I was going to see a Kung Fu movie with Bruce Lee, I pretty much expected to see a movie with mostly or all Asian actors in it. If I went to see A Piece of the Action or Uptown Saturday Night, I expected to see black actors. You know what, I enjoyed all those movies. It just seems like they're being patronizing when these movie executives race swap or gender swap, as if they are saying certain people just don't have the capacity to like movies unless they have people like them in the film.

Somehow they didn't get to page 4 of the books cause it specifically stated that the Harfoots (which Tolkien said on that very same page was just a breed of Hobbot) were the most inclined to settle in one place and didn't travel much outside their homes and Hobbit holes.

Few things to note regarding Tolkiens actual writings and stance on some stuff; 1. Galadriel wasn’t a warrior. She was influential and powerful magically sure (for an Elf) but her whole personality and story back during this time was her simply wanting to rule. Gil-Gilead, Glorfindel and the like were elven warriors and hunted Sauron down WITH ARMIES until the final battle because no Elf could defeat what’s essentially a fallen angel power wise. Soooo Galadriel looking for Sauron is like trying to find the center of a nuclear bombs target 5 seconds before it blows up. 2. This timeline is fucked up. Is Sauron using his Annatar alias? Because if so then nobody should be “hunting him”. And if he isnt using it anymore then that means all the rings are created and he should have the Nazgûl prior to their complete succumbing into their wraith forms. Maybe Numenorian Nazgûl kings , sorcerers and warriors should be in the show. 3. For clarification: harfoots are 1/3 types of hobbits. The creators don’t know anything and it really shows, but anyways. Magic is also a very unique aspect within Tolkien’s books. Like The Maiar (Sauron, Gandalf, Balrogs, etc) can influence the energy that makes up Middle Earth from Eru Aluvitar into “spells” but Tolkien specifically made sure that Elves can only influence things not outright cast spells. Kinda like the stronger the spirit the more impact on the surrounding world it would have. Humans like Denethor and Faramir were unique due to being able to see into the future albeit very murkily, but that’s ALL a human could do. The Witch King can use magic only because he has a power source… that just so happens to be a maiar directly. But yeah went on a tangent, toodle-do

The character "Disa" is the biggest joke of 2022 🤣 Tolkien clearly writes that female dwarves could only be identified by dwarves since they looked the same, beard and all, even Jackson respected this and had Gimli give a brief comment about it. Disa....😂🤣😂🤣

Personally, I always felt the single most important part in all of Tolkien's work was when Frodo wandered into that cave, fought Sauron, Sting in hand, and chopped his head off, only to find that--beneath Sauron's helmet--was Frodo's own face. This shows that the scariest part of the one ring is that its essence lies--not just around us--but within us.
