Very plausible. 'Zon moguls and Bezoz do not care about their employ--err--slaves. It's why they fight tooth and nail to CRUSH UNIONS. Abbott (Texas) got rid of water breaks for construction workers. And water isn't enough. After awhile the water gets too hot to drink and makes you throw up. Even if kept cold you water log yourself. Gatorade helps as well, but again once it gets hot and starts to cook. All that and the most the company does (USPS) send a message on the scanner saying inside the truck is 20 degrees hotter in the truck then outside like that's going to help.

San Antonio here: Abbott has been an excellent Gov despite what lib dipshits like to endlessly complain about. Mandating water breaks every 4 hours is ridiculous and outright dangerous. The military's standard is ONE LITER PER HOUR on the hour and it is posted all over Fort Sam Houston if you don't believe me. Regardless, any employer in TEXAS who denies their workers impromptu water breaks will soon be out of business due to lack of employees or facing lawsuits. I'd laugh in the face of any supervisor or manager's attempts to restrict access to water at any point during a summertime shift. That goes for Amazon as well

I just read an article about this and amazon made a statement that is false. At my amazon station, we ARE NOT provided Gatorade and we barely get water. We also are not encouraged to take cooling down breaks. We do have ac, but because amazon forces us to turn off the vans at every stop or we lose our bonuses, this does not help that much. The vans being dark in color are usually 10 to 30 degrees hotter than the outdoor temperatures. I am a current amazon delivery driver. Been outside most of the day and I actually started feeling kinda wonky (sure warning sign) and I wasn't even exerting myself. I called it a day and went inside to cool down and have a shower. Some would try to macho their way out of this situation. That's a good way to get oneself from a bad situation into a life-threatening crisis. It’s sad that Amazon wants to say all the vans have A/C when that is a blatant lie… a lot of the vans A/C stops working and most DSP’s don’t make it a priority to have the A/C fixed. I’ve had vans where the A/C turns off and on randomly throughout the day, and vans that only blow hot air. I just had to rescue a girl the other day who was in a van that had no A/C. I’m sure she wouldn’t have needed a rescue if the van did have A/C because she normally finishes early. It should be illegal to put delivery drivers in vans without working A/C when it’s 80 degrees or more. Especially when it’s 90-100 degrees. It’s just unethical.

As a driver, i can tell you that there are two types of customers. Maybe even three. 1.) There’s the customer who sees you on a hot day and asks, “Would you like something to drink?” 2.) There’s the customer who walks up to you and places a drink in your hand without asking you if you want it; maybe even saying, “I want you to have this,” OR “Take this!” 3.) Then there’s the customers who not only leave coolers full of icy cold drinks for all delivery people, but they SPECIFICALLY address it to the delivery people (out of courtesy, I personally don’t take any drinks from a cooler if it’s not addressed to me. The family could be headed out the door to the beach. And i try not to steal). I’ll close out with this: I once had a person, who called themselves a Christian, ask if I wanted them to pray for me. I was tempted to ask, “Why? Have you not been praying for me already? And since you brought it up, do you WANT to pray for me?”

Taking breaks and having hot air blowing out because the Amazon vans are not serviced often does not make up for the drivers being pushed complete anywhere from 140-180 stops with 30-60 muti-stop in between. If the consumers of amazon care about it's employees then it it best to not shop from Amzon during the summer months. Imagine working in the extreme heat in a metal box that makes 112°F feel cool because the van gets about 160°f. Any water that was frozen or cold becomes boiling hot to where you can't drink it. And you are forced to take a lunch in the middle of nowhere where you just sit and bake while in the van and are only give two other breaks which are optional. But, ypu can't use those breaks even if you desperately need to because you are told by someone above you that you need to move faster so they can pay you put less for the hours worked. If ever you or someone you know dies from working with Amzon due to the heat. Lawyer up and sue with others for them to change their policies and how they operate as a business. Make it where when there is extreme weather events the employees get partial pay for their normal shifts but do not have to legally come in. And if they do they get hazard pay in top of their normal pay.

Why doesn't the governor's have a state of emergency that requires the swapping of schedules from daytime to night time we're deliveries started night and go all night long and cease in the morning. Were workers report to work and work all night long and go home in the morning to sleep all day. There should be a nation schedule reversal for the summer.
