I stopped listening to Sting and saw your thumbnail for this song - it's a moment in history of a whole era in time - Chloe you got it - root and branch. Your harmony part is perfect. Roll with it all. Good luck.
I sprouted wings on S & G. I've heard them, played them, felt them all of my life. Your singing brings so much life into this experience and I thank you for sharing it with us and with me. Speak, no, Sing what you feel and I promise you: if you do this - if you feel your way through life like you did here then the rest of us will listen and be grateful. Please stay true to your heart and forget the rewards. Thank you.
America was hailed as the land of opportunity and freedom. It is the land where people sought monetary prosperity, not the biblical prosperity, as in prosper even as your soul prospers, for what does it profit a man if he gains the world, but loses his soul. This is the song that both heralds and mourns the death of the American dream. It sum's up the story in just a few words. See how strikingly in contrast, the beginning and the ending are. The song starts off with ,"Let us be lovers we'll marry our fortunes together", and ends with, "I'm empty and aching and I don't know why". If you choose monetary prosperity, the price is always, moral bankruptcy. Do not put your confidence and your faith and your trust, in money. Do not desire or learn to value and to treasure silver and gold, more than freedom.
She is gifted and caught the spirit of the era, I was in my teens when this came out. She took me back there. I would love to hand her my steel stringed Ovation and then switch them out for some DR skin, coated acoustic strings. Wonderful and gifted playing. I am grateful I caught it. TY
This is also one of my favorites. I was 17 years old when I went out on my own. That song made it a wonderful time. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. You have a marvelous voice.
Let us be lovers, we'll marry our fortunes together I've got some real estate here in my bag So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies And we walked off to look for America Cathy, I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh Michigan seems like a dream to me now It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw I've gone to look for America Laughing on the bus, playing games with the faces She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy I said, be careful, his bowtie is really a camera Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat We smoked the last one an hour ago So I looked at the scenery She read her magazine And the moon rose over an open field Cathy, I'm lost, I said though I knew she was sleeping And I'm empty and aching and I don't know why Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike They've all come to look for America All come to look for America All come to look for America

I notice your Oasis album in the cupboard, Chloe! You must be an eclectic music fan! Great cover by a very beautiful young woman, 'YOU'! With Love - Mikey. XXX
Thank you! Yes, I absolutely love Joni Mitchell and that song, I actually did a rough cover of it ages ago which I never uploaded - I might have to do a proper one soon! :)
Excellent voice...reminescent of Jewel. I enjoyed your interpretation. BTW, Walk-down chords do not include Dmaj. Try Em/D al la sheet music and ultimate guitar tabs.
