@Avery Poplin - Do you care to elaborate on what exactly you mean by this comment? I’m confused why you’re saying “Finally a Scott Type Dog on this channel” ? I’m confused as to why you would say that. My two white females have Scott dogs on top and bottom.
American bulldogs are mighty fine dogs, some of the best working bulldogs out there alongside of American pit bulldogs. Not only are they very powerful, they're athletic, driven, and loyal. And for folks that like dogs such as the pit bulldog but want dogs that are more geared towards being protective against humans, American bulldogs are a great choice. They are like the right amount of bulldog and the right amount of mastiff. I remember looking up some information on them years back, and reading what Diane Jessup wrote. She had said: "A breed that, until the late 1980s, was virtually unheard of, this breed was made from existing lines of large pit bulldogs during the eighties which survived and developed along unique lines in secluded Southern states. Some lines of American bulldog are pit bulls crossed with any of a half dozen large mastiff-type breeds."
Only problem I see about your comment is Diane Jessup. She has personally spoke down about the American Bulldogs to me and always seems to compare them to the APBT. Both are great breeds and used for different things such as you stated. There’s a need for both I believe

@@el_rey_gris9321 exactly, that's why I love the Scott type , because the Scott bulldog looks just like a heavier Pitbull , best dogs in the world 🌍 a Scott bulldog can do anything from herding, catching hogs, guarding stock, attack dog, ect ect so versatile, that's why it's my favorite breed.
In the 1800s I predict that Americans were fighting their bulldogs and had bandogs. When the importers started coming in I think any good dogmen would have created a new Cross and based on what they liked back crossed, in and line bread the features they wanted Take for example Colby’s Pincher vs Pilot or the gas house dog I think pincher was a southern white cross He was 75 lbs
I just recued a female got her for free she cleaned up nice already is showing signs of muscle development she has incredible drive and prey instict already i think shes only 7 months i know she isnt a year yetm excited to see what shell be capable of one day
Awesome video! What many people don't realize is that southern bulldog breeds were developed to be 1. live stock guardians 2. property protection and 3. stock dogs. Not specialists but "generalist's". This is what is so unique about these dogs...they can do all three skill's very well if properly trained. The fact that most people don't realize these dogs were developed and bred to do farm & ranch work is in LARGE PART the fault of breeders. Most focus only on sports such as weight pull or personal protection competition. There is nothing wrong with this, but if the dogs are not worked (trained & developed) in these three classic skills and then shown to the public...their "practical work utility" is lost to the modern working bulldog owner. Pride of the Southland Kennels is doing a great service to these breeds because you are teaching your dogs these challenging and often difficult skills, and then sharing to modern working bulldog owners. You might want to check out FF FOX Alapaha's...Susie Fox does very good videos with her classic Lana Lou line of Alapaha's in PA.
@Coyote - yea very simple to do all of those things my friend. I don’t mean to be rude but if you’ve never attempted those tasks with a single breed let alone a single dog it’s near impossible these days
So we’ve bull shitted back and forth and this is my first time seeing this video. My dog is a descendant of sgt rock. Most of the dogs in this video are related to him. How did I miss this one lmao
@@prideofthesouthlandkennelsust be a different Mr Hines.. I read the name Hines and when it comes to dogs I think Howard Hines.. he was a dogman.. back in his day apbt
