Just visit Roma's today. Had no idea what I was missing out on, the food was great, the owner's are real down to earth people and just a great atmosphere. I will definitely be back for my Italian beef sandwich soon. Food was delicious😋😋
@@fabriziofabrixxio1178 Yes its called an Italian Beef Sandwich in Chicago. Italians back in the depression or early 1900s created it when people were short on food they used thin beef trimmings and bread to make food go farther. Or so the story goes.
If ever in New Jersey, go to Jimmy Buffs in West Orange, or Tommy's in Elizabeth. Italian Hot Dogs so good. I love how different regions have signature delights that people rave about 😉
If your ever in NYC hit up bottom floor of Grand Central Terminal next to station 109 Hot dog stand and get a NYer...OMG the grilled onions & bread makes u wanna slap yo momma 🤣🤣
TT somehow always manages to find the best food places & makes an excellent video of the process for what they make. I'm sure if I lived nearby I would be trying one of those beef rolls with pickles, gravy /everything asap.
Travel Thirsty -- gonna give y'all props. Roma's is a TRUE Chicago hole in the wall. Been going with my father for the last 20 or so years. The last owner was a bastard at times, but he made one of the best beefs & homemade giardiniera anywhere. Surprised they are getting the recognition they deserve from you guys. Definitely one of the best beef shops in Chicago, albeit nowhere near as known as Al's or Johnnie's. I appreciate you guys truly getting down with the Chicago dives & giving them more of a platform. SEE IF MR. D'S WILL ALLOW YOU TO FILM IN BELMONT-CRAGIN!!!
hi pinacolaaadas . your honesty makes me laugh. lol. what previous bastered he was lol . what do you order when you're there? thanks for your post and time.
JHC. looks like cholesterol heaven. I want to move upstairs of the restaurant so i can hang a basket out my window and have it filled with beef sandwiches and dogs. I bet they taste amazing!
I'm born and raised in Chicago but have lived in omaha since 03. When I moved here and found out Italian beef is a Chicago thing and there is none here, I went hungry. Greatest sandwich ever made.
I'm from Chicago and ima be honest.... I don't think I ever been here but I do love Italian beefs and you can get them at many locations in Chicago, also I prefer the maxwell street hot dog to the Chicago one, it's mustard and tons of grilled onions. If you wanna try a good polish hotdogs try Jim's original by the highway and they have good fries too but this is just my opinion.
@H0T-Vlog Go to My Channel во первых её залили водой посли порезки, во вторых она уже была чистая, в третьих термическая обработка убьёт все чего ты боишься. Сегодня куплю у них попробовать. Выглядит аппетитно. Надеюсь наесться
Was thinking the same. It was annoying to watch it almost dip into the beef. Almost as annoying as watching them cook the beef with no seasoning. No salt/pepper, spices, no browning of the meat to make a nice gravy...? The best beef sandwich?...I'm thinking not
@@chiraqallday7434 yes. Especially since Johnnie’s started to decrease the size of their beefs. And, from what I hear, they use diced sweet peppers now. 🤮
Chicago Native but now live in Seattle. Can’t find any place that makes this. Has always been my all time favorite sandwich/ food! Only place I’ve found that’s pretty spot on is Michael Italian Beef & Sausage in Portland Oregon!
@Rita 25 y.o - check my vidéó A few steps were not included in the video. I can assure anyone reading this that Roma's is outstanding in their food prep. BTW, I've eaten some pretty amazing Indian street food as well. Might want to go back to your cave and book some travel to anywhere. Perhaps consider staying there once you arrive?
@@gustavofring4784 Italians are the best cooks in Europe period and they blessed the USA by settling here. They should know cooking well with such an ancient history.
This place, is located, on Cicero Ave. A block before montrose. I was driving my uncle to the airport, so he can get home, back to Anchorage Alaska, we passed this place, we stopped here, he loaded up on Italian beefs sandwiches, to take with him. Man , I miss my uncle Sammy. Lol. Rest in peace unc..
Love Chicago restaurants, my father's family stay there and I love getting to go up there every year,We always go see a Bears preseason game and a Cubs too.
100% L.E.G.I.T well done chef. Bless up from Brooklyn NY. Beautiful cuts of meat cooked to perfection. We don't have that goodness in Brooklyn FACT, your hot dogs are even better, well done 👏
For the LOVE of food where are you located everything looks delicious 😋😍 and those hot dogs and fries are the best. Here in Shit-cago their using hot dogs that are so skinny the term where's the Beef has come back. And the amount of fries you give out that's a meal in its self. I'll travel to try your food. Thank you for the video now I'm super hungry 😂👍
They all look good except when he dunked the beef sandwich in the beef juice i would think the bread would become a soggy mess by the time they ate it.
You've CLEARLY never had a Chicago Italian beef. The bread holds up fine. Don't worry about the bread. It's a rare person who doesn't ask for their sandwich 'dipped'. Rare.
Wow, the yield is much lower than I thought it would be, thanks to all the care that goes into trimming the fat, gristle and nerves. I'm going to start coming here.
Wow. Feel like getting on a plane just to get one of those....next time I'm in Richmond I'll be popping over to Chicago for one of each please mam/sir.
I was a managing partner of a very popular/famous Italian beef restaurant in Chicago for 15 years. It’s always nice to see other peoples technique. Ours was a little bit different but still many similarities
We don't have to wash the meat bc its pre washed. If it was in styrofoam maybe. But it is flash sealed for safety already. And the skin of the potatoes is the healthiest part and adds crispness
@@Nikolai_Petrovich3 смотри внимательно! В картофелерезку кладут мытые клубни. Картофель чистить там не принято, для подобных блюд, так как кожура у неё тонкая. А мясо моют, ещё на стадии обработки, до упаковывания. Просто мясной сок создаёт иллюзию грязного мяса.
I was wondering if is the same Roma's that was at the corner of Harlem & Irving, across the street from the outdoor theater and the shopping center!!! They used to cook the skewed sausage over a charcoal pit.
I fell in love with Italian beef when I was 7 years old. My cousins took me on a tour when I visited from TX. To this day, there isnt a better sandwich than Italian beef, though a flounder sub in NJ could make a case. Everytime I go to Chicago, I got to have me at least 2 🤤
Roma's is one of the best family places for Real Italian beef. Skip portillos. They get precooked shredded beef in bags shipped from their factory in Lombard. Always seek out a small beef stand. You won't be disappointed
