Will pushing the other two away at the end of Jesus of Suburbia really changes the tone of things. In many other versions, it seems like he is either angry or incredulous about his friends leaving without him, and they seem much more callous. In this version, he actually pushes them away tells them that they're leaving (its not a question "you're leaving?", more of a command "you're leaving!"). such a different dynamic, and a subtle change in interpretation of the same script.
This is such a good version guys. You should be so proud of this. I've seen the American version once and the British version 4 times and yours did not disappoint at all! I thought Will was outstanding, what a fantastic voice! So glad I found this ☺️ xx
@@SaintLoser billie joe armstrong has been working on it with hbo since 2016 although they haven't begun shooting yet. But it's definitely happening! :)
Awesome job people! I watched the original dvd version on Netflix "watch instantly" a long time ago and recently got an itch to see it again. I went to Netflix and it is no longer available...So I went to RU-vid and this was closest I could find. What a revelation! You guys ROCK!
this is a brilliant version, my only problem with it was Jimmy's "death" and that it doesn't really make it clear that Jimmy is in Johnny's head. that my only issue, could be a license issue as I've seen another company do this and they did the same thing. but, other than that, it was really good! well done!
I've seen a couple different versions of this on youtube, and that seems to be one of the more difficult things to convey. the LA production probably handles Jimmy's "Death" among the best, having Johnny shoot Jimmy instead of having Jimmy shoot Jimmy. It's supposed to be *Johnny* deciding to end his St. Jimmy persona and face his life rather than running away from it constantly. Plus, the LA staging has Jimmy actually die and some of the bystanders sing the "Nobody cares" lines. Unlike the Broadway and Pace versions, where Jimmy's death is treated like a joke, and he's carried off stage singing about how nobody cares. Just hits completely differently.
@@saucytruffle4738 It’s more of a marketing issue as the bands logo is used in promotional logos. There are 3 logos you can use and that’s it. In addition, script flexibility is virtually nonexistent, with this shows opening being a “radical” departure from the “proper” opening, but that’s just for this show, Any other show and it would have been fine. The one exception is anything any everything can change if you ask your mti rep (music theatre international, the licensing company for this show) and by extension the band/author and THEY they give you approval. All details are on mti’s website. This should be accurate but I’m not liable if it’s not.
I really really like it, but the autotune is super evident :/ It's a shame bc the singers in this are obviously good at what they do. I think imperfections in vocals make this musical even more real and full of emotion. But again... this is fantastic as a whole
Ohhhh, so it doesn't have anything to do with the mics themselves? Thank you for the information! I always appreciate learning how these things actually work. Some of the vocals seemed odd to me so that's why I pointed it out. Thank you for your response!!
Real time pitch correction is actually a real thing and it does sound like it's being used in a few places, but it is definitely possible to switch between notes in that way without autotune. Just wanted to comment so people don't think that live pitch correction isn't real lol
one major critic i have (i know im 8 years late): in boulevard of broken dreams, will is playing the guitar instead of johnny. i feel like johnny should be the one holding and playing the guitar because that's what attracts whatshername to him and also signifies the whole point of the song.. "broken dreams"
My only issue with this production was Jimmy's death, since it was essentially him killing off is alter ego, but it doesnt really make this very clear, other than that it was an amazing production. I still want to see this live one day. maybe when all this virus shit is over someplace near by will have a production of it
