Surprisingly baby toad likes to be where the hanging plants are planted.
A 5 gallon enclosure should not be a permanent for a American toad! You should increase their enclosure size as they get bigger. 20 Gallon enclosure is the minimum size for a adult.
If you choose to use the same substrate mix make sure to use rocks/pebbles and bark that can not fit in the toads mouth.
🍂 Substrate 🍂 :
2 parts coco fiber / coir
1 part Bark
1 part pea gravel (menards seems cheapest)
1 part dirt
I would suggest a mix of 50/50 of soil and coco fiber.
I heated up soil to try an kill any potential pests.
A lot of these plants are I'm just testing.
🌱 Plants 🌱 :
Marble queen pothos
Satin Pothos
Arrowhead plant
Thyme
Brandi philodendron
Ledebouria sociallis
Moss (2 types)
Peter Pan Ivy
Oak leaf creeping fig
Creeping Jenny (i think what the left hanging plant is called)
How I grew the moss myself:

It;s a beautiful set up, perfect for a baby toad. Mine guy is 4 inches I have learned that toads need 4-5 inches of dirt/substrate because they like to burrow. Mine really hides sometimes. I just got him a 3 ft x 2 ft terrarium and your video has given me some ideas. He needs more play room! 🥰

Nice set up. I have the same frog lol I found him today in one of my houseplants that I bought from the nursery, (over a month ago). Little guy has been hiding out until I watered my plant for the first time since buying it. He jumped out and scared the living crap out of me. Lol Thanks again for the video as it was very informative and helpful. Jesus loves you dear! ❤️John 3:16❤️

This is so cute but if those plants are live then the roads will most likely kill them. They are known to do extreme home makeovers😂

@herps2003 3 года назад
Yep, I can confirm this. it once got so bad the toads had constructed a sort of cave out of various plants.

@LittleBlueOctopus

I wouldn’t suggest it. Mine was still very small at the time so that’s why I had it in a 5.5G. I know for one toad it’s at least a 20g long. I think you can have 3 in a 40g.

Wtf? Please don’t keep 2 different species in the same tank, that is very bad and they could even kill eachother. They can get stressed and die too
@Avocetexotics
@Avocetexotics 3 года назад
You should definitely not keep these two species together! They have two completely different care needs. Leopard geckos need arid enclosures and American toads need a pretty humid aquarium. Definitely separate them immediately!

@@Avocetexotics Soo they are doing perfectly fine and they like each other they both have there side of the tank and I got a bearded dragon so I'm gonna use the 75 gallon for my beardie and I'm gonna have to separate them anyways also it says that american toads can have any humidity and temp I found the toad outside in Toledo

WhenLifeGives YouLemons It’s a Zilla Critter Cage. It’s has a screen top that slides in... not very good for keep humidity. At 13:08 you see the screen top. I probably should mentioned these guys need lids since they’re escape artist. I left it off one time, when cleaning his water dish, and he jumped out.
