I'm new to the car RC world and have been ripping around with my Infraction V2 for a couple of weeks now. I don't have enough experience to have a qualified opinion on the wheels other than to say the center of the wheel should not have come apart like that, especially since the nut was tight. One thing I noticed on the power hobby wheels that I purchased is the inner diameter of the wheels was .011 smaller than the factory Hoons. I only noticed this because one of the wheels "self clearanced" itself on the hub/bearing carrier during a few runs up and down the road. I didn't notice any issues until I was cleaning the car after the run. Your channel has been invaluable to me and I truly appreciate the advice you offer. Here's to longer lasting wheels!
Great run tires are not cheap. Always wanted see how these types of tires are. Thank Earl for putting it to test these tires and wheels they do look great especially on the limitless. Thank you 🙏. I seen people crash these the first time they start them up. But man ur skills are getting better every time 👍🏻
Cool run ,loved seeing the Infraction out running ! That shouldn't of happened , the rim should have lasted much longer than the tread . Glad too see you out ! Hope you're feeling better 💯💯💯👍👍👍
Another great video Earl, I have had these tires for my infraction and haven’t had much problem with them but I love the way they look so I still bash a little with them
If there isn't a dry bearing problem then I can only assume it was a combination of your extreme heat and the friction of drifting. I never would have expected the rims to melt. I have bought cheap tires to do speed runs on my redcat shredder. I would only destroy tires. Never seen a wheel.hex melt. Figure out where the heat came from. I like silicone spray on my bearings. I'm betting it's the heat out there in California. Here in northern Newhampshire I melt after 80% never mind 100% lol
Personally I put a few drops of racing bearing oil onto all four corners before I rip my felony. Thinking the heat on that corner took out the rim... Hench the other three being ok. My pal's tell me I don't meet to oil up since there sealed bearings and dirt can't get in. 🤔 I just do my own thing. My felony once blew out a bearing on the inside rear, so I replaced with the blue sealed ones and oil now and then haven't had any more issues. But anyways Earl another great vid and a fantastic new location today really enjoyed the drifts man ... Brilliant. Oh and I think it's good of you to try out different wheels and tyres for us so we can see the difference.
Hi Earl, I've had issues with powerhobby wheels rubbing as well. You can ask them for spacers. They have send them included w some of the wheels actually for this exact reason.
Great run, thanks for the test and information on those wheels. For the money saved and possible trouble they may create during failure I think I will continue searching for other options in wheels
Hopefully a 1 off Dodgy wheel rim. Definitely shouldn't have done that. I wonder if the melting plastic on the hub was what caused it to go into overheat and cut out, before the wheel fell apart. Should really last at least the life of the tyres. Can't beat the hoons 👊 and that ain't saving imo either. Great ripping earl 👌
Good to see your feeling better bro, those rims look awesome on that truck man, that concrete was super rough I think that probably is a factor in why that wheel melted great vid once again!!!
Sorry Earl I've been working a little harder and I've been watching your videos and I haven't had enough time to wash all of them so I'm on bench watch them tonight thank you
I'm by far no authority with all this RC tech stuff but my common sense tells me that I can't believe heat could play such a pivotal part of the equation when dealing with the plastics of tires and wheels reacting to heat like that..... maybe a bad run at the factory ??? or do the wheel hexes actually heat up like that during a bash session normally ..... either way ....... always excellent content E..... thanks for sharing..... ☮++++>Out!! 👍🏼
Earl great vid, short run but think alot of these diffrent wheels is a trial and error but great vid on showing us what had happened thanks for all you do for the rc community have agood day and keep up the hard work love all the content 😎😎👍👍
Wow, I had a few problems with aftermarket rims on my Maxx. Blew a brand new set of Proline Trencher in about 5 minutes. I went back to the original tires. Now, I'm only running the tires that are from Traxxas.
Thanks for the wheel / tire review. I always appreciate a good new gear review / test. However everyone should know you can't just use a sample size of one test. I get that the wheel melted but it might have been a fluke. Did the other 3 wheels have any signs of stress to the plastic hub area? Maybe we can see the other 3 wheels under some light but the manufacturer needs to step up and replace that wheel. No way that should of happen, specially on a single run.
Great video as always. Horizon had a sale on stock tires a couple weeks ago, I stocked up, especially on the felony rears. Out of all things to ruin your rip. Melted wheel.🤬🤬🤬
Could've been a void in the wheel mold around the hub creating a weak spot, regardless with the price of hoons/GRP recently decreasing I'll stick with tried and true. Thanks for sharing
I had some personal things going on recently I haven’t been Able to catch many videos lately. At least now I’ll have some things to watch for a little while LOL but awesome video Brother. And yeah I think I would go with the hoons.
Been busy lately, got some catching up to do 🧐 I love my V2 .... But man I've had 4 runs with babying it . And well the 5th I felt comfy and well the tires are gone lmao . They can go so fast with this RC lmao
Yes my twin motor kills tires so I tried to keep this one on 6s and stock power system to extend the life of tires but man $100.00 every few packs can’t do that at all 😱😱🤪
Holly cow Earl you cooked your rim, that is wild, I'm sorry for the money you lost on it, but WOW 😲 what a rig. I think I'm in love just can't leave them bad women alone 🤣😂😆😂😆😂
Definitely stripped the hex and got hot notice it wasn’t drifting right towards the end it was biting and going straight like diffing out but it was the wheels 💯💯
✌🏻😎🏴I was wondering how long it would take to get back to electric RC’s. The rim looks like it caught fire and melted WTH 😂 I will be honest and say I don’t watch the fossil fuel /nitro stuff. In fact I am dead against the things. I found this guy in Cali that finds really old full scale cars & converts them to electric to give them new life. He put panels on the roof & runs all 22 of his own electric cars for free. They only do that. No more fossil fuel 👍🏻. I was wondering.. do you work on any electric cars at your garage? & are you planning on doing anything similar at your garage to make sure it has a future? Or do you plan on selling the garage at retirement?
