Exactly. How many pedals can meet that criteria? None that I know of. Except this one. The AMT Electronics F1 preamp. It's a bloody little beauty!
I've teamed it up with a HardWire Reverb and a Shredhead distortion to try and show just some of its potential. We'd be here all day if I had to show you everything.
Check it out then. And if you think this is good, wait till you see the SS Series. Yikes.

Can you compare this pedal to the Shift Line Twin and the Effectrode Blackbird? Which of the three would you choose for running direct (amp-less) rig?

clean sound is ok, i guess a real springreverb would add a better dimensionality to the sound, but distortion sucks.

Would it be ok to place this before other pedals in my signal chain or would it be better placed afterwards. It seems to me that the best idea is to place the loop pedal in the FX loop.

When you put in the ch. return/ch. send let's say M1 and in the FX send/return let's say delay unit, will the delay be active on both or on the F1 only? the diagram on their website shows the FX loop is always on, so for what reason they put the FX send/return jacks when you can do that placing the efects after the F1..

I only really start liking this pedal when the gain gets cranked. Does this make the pedal significantly noisy? It doesn't sound like it in the recording, but I'm not sure if you're using any sort of noise reduction.

Can the external preamp loop be used with the preamp section of an amp? For example F1 Ch Send to amps' guitar input then amp's FX send into F1 CH Return finally F1 out into amp's fx return? This way I can have very clean channel with te F1 and the amps channels will overdrive distort as I like.

I have a dumb question: if you can't send straight to a soundcard, and you can't send it to a power amp but want to send it to the front end of whatever other amp you've got lying around, can you just "not close the insert effects loop" and hook yourself straight into the amp out of the ch.send slot ? Or do a similar trick with the fx.send ? I'd like to carry around with me the goodness of a fender preamp and plug into any random amp/speaker I find.

I got one of these... Did you plug it on the instrument in or line in ? Manual says that the switch on CAB SIM is -10db. This is a line level, right? But should I plug on a high impedance in or a line in? I have this doubt about the impedance level...

Carlos E.Perez from what I understand, it's an analog jfet circuit, which means the current draw should be low ( usually they are under 20 mA), and it runs at 12 volts, not 9 volts.

Brett, I have the F1 and now the B2... if I chain the B2 together through the the loop on the left of the F1 and connect the IN and Cab sim out on the B2 to the fx ret of the F1, will I be hearing the F1 Cab Sim or the B2 Cab Sim?

It's suggested to have the regular preamp out to go back into the left loop. Also, just pointing out, the left loop is not an effects loop, it's what AMT calls a "channel loop." Essentially, when something is plugged into it, turning the pedal off instead uses whatever is plugged in as a second channel. So using the cab sim out on both the B2 and F1 essentially has the B2 preamp, into the B2 cabinet, into the F1 cabinet. Or so I've gathered

Hey man, can I use these pedals (preamps) straight into a recording interface for my pc without having an amp, im thinking F1 for clean and probably the P1 or something for distortion. Can I do that without having an amp for the fx loop?

Sounds good but i saved $150 and just bought the Joyo preamp pedals..The American and British pedals basically do the same thing AMT does..

It's a preamp..not really a pedal per say. He shows how it reacts to incoming pedals like a real Fender Twin would. Make any sense? People are too stupid to use a pedal this intuitive
