"We don't want to go," was far more heartbreaking in this than 10's. Hartnell had Doctor Who taken from him.

Checked IMDB. "Tenth Planet" was broadcasted in 1966. Matt Smith was born in 1982. Capladi, however, in 1958. He was 8 years old watching (probably) the episode's premiere. Is there an interview mentioning this? Anyone?

The ChiqueGeeks did the only reaction video for 'An Adventure in Space and Time' I've seen that was made close to when the program first aired. Seems like most everyone else circled back to it after 'The Doctor Falls' was shown.

William Hartnell's Doctor was the most magical character of my childhood. I was only 8 years old when he first came into my life, and because of him and the wonderful and unique way he played the Doctor, Saturday was the only day of the week that mattered. Doctor Who still owes an immense debt to him.

I envy you for not watching this, I'd love to have done a reaction to this. It was beautiful. I just loved how they introduced the Daleks, they introduced them in a way that proved the Daleks were sinister! And unpopular opinion, Bradley saying "I don't want to go" was more heartbreaking than Tennant, there I said it. So glad you reacted to this, it was an awesome reaction!

I agree. Bradley's "I don't want to go" was more heartbreaking. Made me want to cry so much. You wish Harnell had it in him to stay on Doctor Who longer than he did. But at the same time, you know why that cannot be.

It is most definitely more heartbreaking than Tennant. You at least knew Tennant had a long career ahead of him and a family to raise. Hartnell was older and in poor health. He knew what leaving meant.

Hi Alex, just discovered your channel. I loved watching your reaction to this film. I'm amazed that someone so young has a fondness for Doctor Who going back to it's beginnings. My father was a huge Doctor Who fan, and he watched it from the beginning. We lived near the Canadian border in upstate New York then, I was born that year. By the time I was six (1969) and the Apollo LEM landed on the moon, he got me hooked on Patrick Troughton. He used to sneak me downstairs to watch it on PBS so my mom wouldn't know (she said it was scary). Now I'm a grown up man of 54 and am a huge fan with a long history with Doctor Who, and my emotions are deeply attached to the show. It's like part of my family and my life. Seeing your reactions brought you into my life as part of my extended family. You are so much younger and haven't experienced it from the beginning, but share the same intense love and emotions for the show an older fan like me. It's refreshing to see a fan emoting about something they love. Just had to let that out. You'll now have a much better experience watching David Bradley in the Christmas Special. He will already be fixed in your heart as William Hartnell so he will be real in your mind, as if he really did "come back". PS: I loved watching your lips move as you quoted each line of that speech. Hugs from Berlin, Germany. Antonio.

We may love our current Doctors, but Hartnell was the foundation with Troughton just solidifying it. The creators took a big gamble with the concept of regeneration, and we are all lucky that the idea payed out at 1,000,000 to 1.

Another great reaction. It's a brilliant piece, executed with the lightest touch. Other cameos include Mark "Marco Polo" Eden as the BBC executive who says they'll have to cancel the show and Anneke "Polly" Wills at Vertiys' farewell party. Alongside Jean Marsh (The Crusades, The Dalek Masterplan, Battlefield) and Michael Ferguson, director of The War Machines, The Seeds of Death, The Ambassadors of Death and The Claws of Axos. He was also an Assistant Floor Manager on The Daleks, operating the sucker arm that approachs Barbara at the end of part one. Whovian DVD host/ interviewer Toby Hadoke plays the barman.
@borjankosarac3645
@borjankosarac3645 6 лет назад
Also, for a scrapped idea they thought of having Jean Marsh appear as Sara Kingdom - when Sara was being aged by the Dalek's machine at the end. It was probably cut for the sake of narrative flow, but damn if it wouldn't have been cool to see!

I know the feeling, me boyo. I was crying like a little girl after scrapping her knee. I kept telling my parents that I wasn't crying, but the onion ninjas struck again. But that scene with Matt was really beautiful. Especially considering that in that scene in the original episode, those switches on the console that Matt was standing at *moved* by themselves. Book 1 goes from 1963-1987, while book 2 goes from 1996-2013. :) Also, I'm just curious. How much Classic Who have you seen? I'm nearly done with it, just season 25 and season 26 to go for me.
