It somehow doesn't feel like Peter Capaldi was the Doctor for long enough, even though he actually played the part for the same length of time as David Tennant and Matt Smith. Somehow it just feels shorter, like it was only yesterday he took on the role.

thesimpsons17: He still had three entire series, though. Tennant (2, 3 & 4), Smith (5, 6 & 7) and Capaldi (8, 9 & 10). Same length as the other two New Who Doctors.

Quite frankly, it was nice to see someone react the way that I did when seeing Clara again. I broke down so hard I had to pause the episode to get it out. Once I composed myself somewhat I resumed the episode. I legit broke down hard. I haven't sobbed that hard since I saw Sigourney Weaver's speech at the end of "Prayers for Bobby."

@mrandrews3616
@mrandrews3616 6 лет назад
Personally I liked this story but it had problems. I can understand Bill being in it but Nardole and Clara, especially Clara, was pointless. Also, while his scenes were good, the First Doctor was a relatively pointless addition to the story. However, it was really entertaining, another Lethbridge Stewart was a great addition and the Christmas truce scene was brilliant. I smiled like an idiot watching it. I thought the regeneration was excellent and Jodie's first appearance was good. Now, I disagree with a woman as the Doctor but I am hopeful and I wish Jodie the best of luck. Twelve's Hour has past, the clock now strikes thirteen. Happy Christmas every one.

Matt Smith for me has been the best Doctor of NuWho, but Capaldi still comes a close second. His final speech was superbly delivered with such understated, melancholic passion. His initially darker, more aloof and socially awkward rendering of the role was a stark contrast to Smith's enthusiastic, quirky manchild. Still, I look forward to seeing what Whittaker will bring, now the Doctor is a Time Lady.

Nine's regeneration music = short but sweet Ten's regeneration music = sad, epic, meaningful, and well-remembered Eleven's regeneration music = grand and over-the-top Twelve's regeneration music = reminiscent, but music less important than his words Nine = short but sweet Ten = sad, epic, meaningful, and well-remembered Eleven = grand and over-the-top Twelve = reminiscent, but music less important than his words

I just mean it was quite bombastic, energised, and loud compared to the quiet others, which focused on the death aspect. But he did go out blowing up Daleks, so I suppose it fits, so you'd still be right.

Joseph Simpson bombastic? The second of 11's regeneration wasn't bombastic at all. It was really good. The first one, with the Daleks was (he was breaking science so it fitted anyways). But I like all the meanings behind each doctors regenerations.

... Clara. My Clara. My impossible girl. Clara showing up made me cry as much as "raggedy man... good night". It always hurts! I'm so uncertain of the future now because we're having so many changes at once. New doctor, new head writer and Murray Gold is leaving apparently... Jodie doesn't bother me but the other two are far more scary. The music has always been so... for lack of a better word... fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I don't want it to go. But times change and so must I... let me be brave.
@WannabeWriter100
@WannabeWriter100 6 лет назад
Same. It's a total "regeneration" this time. New head writer, new doctor, new companion, new composer. This could either go really well or *really* bad.
@darthnazgul
@darthnazgul 6 лет назад
Instead of a bombastic, action-packed send-off, we got a quiet, contemplative look into the Doctor, his nature, death, life, remembering and moving on. It remembers the old with fondness, and embraces the new with sincerity. What could come across as cheesy instead came across as sweet. No end of the world, just an end of an era. It's a far better farewell than Tennant or Smith got. Goodbye, my Doctor.

I think 13 getting thrown out of the Tardis is pretty symbolic. Jodie was rejected straight away by many Whovians , just like the tardis rejected her at the end and now it’s time for her to prove to those viewers and the TARDIS that she really IS The Doctor
@Symon2099
@Symon2099 6 лет назад
Eleven nearly falls out of Tardis after just regenerating. Fan theories = Zero. Thirteen falls out of Tardis after just regenerating. Fan Theories = Here they come.... For the record, why would the Tardis 'reject' the Doctor anyway? Other than possibly wishing she would start regenerating/recovering outside so as not to keep exploding and/or subsequently crashing her into housing estates/sheds/dinosaur's stomachs/etc...

Torchwood Boy, wonderfully said. I will always remember when MY Doctor was Peter Capaldi. The episode, "Mummy on the Orient Express" the Doctor tells Clara, "Sometimes the only choices are bad ones but you still have to choose." Brilliant. That, for me, was when he became my Doctor. Evolving into to the man who preached kindness above all; who had once asked if he was a good man to the man who gave his life (sorta) to save people from the Cybermen. Spectacular.

For my own part, I was knocking myself in the head for not figuring out who the Captain was until shortly after we met Rusty. Of COURSE he was a Lethbridge-Stewart. I've lived through every regeneration since Baker-Davison, so you'll forgive me my lack of tears. During the "dark years" I had the chance to go back and watch all of DW that I could, and I've found that there's always things to like, love, and hate about every one of the Doctors. Regeneration has come to be a: periodic ritual containing sadness as we look backwards at what a legacy has just been finished and exhilaration at what may possibly be in store as we turn the page. Peace be with you, Peter Capaldi; you were one of the giants. God speed Jodie Whittaker; overflow those shoes that have been left for you!

I joined the fandom in 2014 (2015?? Don't exactly remember but it somewhere around there), when Capaldi was having his first run. I started with 10 because it was airing on Disney XD at the time. The first episode I watched was with Sarah Jane Smith and The Doctor reuniting again. Didn't know who she was at the time, but after watching that episode, I knew I wanted to be a DW fan. From then on, I binged watched the Nuwho on Netflix (regrets on not watching Classic Who sooner). 9 made me love leather jackets and bananas and made me curious on what the time war was, 10 made me laugh and cry, and for a time he was my favorite doctor, 11 was silly and brought a fun take to the Doctor, and then there was 12. Honestly, I knew he was the Doctor because I saw the revealing trailer before I even watched the show. When I watched Series 8, I didn't like him at first. He was grumpy and he wasn't anything like 9, 10, & 11. Then the series finale came in, and I realized I liked him. Series 9 made me laugh bc of his humor and made me astonished during the last 2 episodes. The Christmas Specials are enjoyable too (being the superhero fan that I am, the Ghost one had a special place in my heart. *fight me*) And Series 10? That was the first time I watched DW straight from BBC Network. I adored Bill and Nardole, I loved the references, I loved that the Doctor punched that racist guy in the face, I loved the series, and I finally loved 12. I realized that 12 is a great doctor. He was the Classic Doctor in the NuWho era and rewatching his run, he made it work. And when the First Doctor teamed up with the Twelfth, it was the first time I full out fangirled on the screen. Peter Capaldi, to me (and many others) you are *my Doctor*. You were the first one who took me from the beginning to the end. And Jodie, you'll be just brilliant. I just know. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@anthonyhowardstarkisalivea9853
Plus, Murray Gold made me have a great taste of music. I'll miss him too.

I have watched your reaction multiple times since Christmas. Every time I do I feel like bawling my eyes out all over again, when he regenerated I was a mess I couldn't believe he was leaving and I didn't want him too As much as everyone hated him at first, I gave him a shot and I ended up loving him with all my doctor who heart(s) he had become my favourite doctor and will miss him always Like you said "I will always remember when the doctor was him"

I cried all through out the last eps of season 10 and when the doctor regenerated. The ending to the 12th doctors friends were so sad but now I'm so excited and sad ahh I watched it like 3 hours ago and I'm still freaking out! I loved your reaction so relatable!

I gotta say, nearly a year later, having watched countless wonderful reactions to this brilliant story, yours is my favorite. Your deep engagement and willingness to let your emotions show make it easy for me to vicariously experience the show for the first time again.

Hello Alex! I'm a refugee from Sesskasays! I've always loved your comments over there. I'm sorry you lost your Doctor. It's always tough when you loose a favorite. My doctor was Tom Baker and it was sad to see him go (America was always a year behind BBC back then) Since then, I've learned you actually pick up more "Doctors. Oh sure, you love all of them, but there will be some that just connects with you hard. Smith and Capaldi became competitors in that title, but for different reasons. Smith was the joyful explorer with a dark shadow and Capaldi was wary wanderer with the highlights of love. So here is to hoping good Doctor stories with a Doctor who will capture our hearts.

Oh buddy! Good on ya, mate, and best from San Fran, in the USA. Been a fan of the Doctor since (uh-oh, don't go there). And all these decades later, only more so. I wrote some wordy praise (attached below) to thank Capaldi and Moffat (and 3 cheers for Murray Gold!) which I wrote yesterday for the "Doctor Who Infinity" channel on FB. But for you, my friend, I want to say: Don't lose that gorgeous humanity, pal; not one whit, ever. Nor that remarkable ability of yours to unabashedly feel the whole of it. Of course there's a brain there, too (clearly, got to be). But what Clara told us about plenty of misguided heros and soldiers, I'd tell you, and add we're a bit amok at the moment with scared little Daleks hiding behind deadly metal cages, and not nearly enough wise fools with hearts. _So keep on keepin' on_ --- second star to the right, and straight on till morning. You're being deeply committedly human is what this mad-wise alien would love most. ******** Wow, what a way to go! Bradley was superb, Gatis, never better. It was a treat to see both Capaldi and Mackie get a chance to weave the small nuances of their characters back in, one more time and tie them into completion, which both did exceptionally. Even one last hurrah from Lucas and Coleman fitted beautifully into the flow. So how did I take this 10th(?) holiday episode? Being middle in my years, I suppose I'll never hear the secret name of the Doctor, so perhaps I'll be forgiven for my encrusted defenses. But the heart of this one was so penetrating, its story, so engaging and brilliant, I'm afraid there may have been a misfiring near my tear ducts. (Let's not speak of that). What I _can_ say is that Moffett is a freakin' genius who'll be undervalued for a while yet in his time. Some have said (too brazenly) that Moffett's capable mind only magnified his ability to make gaping errors. But like Davies before him, Moffat stretched the Doctor's depth and breadth of the Doctor's universe with brazen daring, and I, for one, will always be glad he did. Embarking on galloping rides like "The Pandorica" and "The Impossible Astronaut" were the mental equivalent of Disneyland's "Mister Toad's Wild Ride" -- Geronimo! Grab your fez and jump in; you're going to like it. Did Moffat get tired, did some of his tropes get old? Yep, and yep. But hey, he's not the infallible "Papal Mainframe" (and isn't if funny I can take a piece of something awesome from one of my least favorite Moffet-made holiday episodes?). Yet odd as it sounds, "Twice Upon" is _not_ one of my favorite "Christmas" episodes. Yet that's only because I believe these "holiday" snapshots have become a very special sub-category of shows (thank you, Russell!) at their best, intended as "family", and (mostly-) hope-filled holiday fun. "Twice", without doubt, had _all_ those elements -- then, it transcended them. Mind you, it's not "Journey's End" (Davies' masterpiece) - it doesn't need to be. The special culmination of that story was perfect for _its_ time and, and we've already had that feast. "Twice" was the perfect final course for Moffat's era -- I'm so glad it came along. Besides the redemptive completion it thankfully provided after last season's existentially unsettling finale, it had such a _different_ quality: a powerful, slow-burn warming, right on up to its crescendo. I bet it surprised even the Old Man himself (Moffat, in this case) who probably didn't think he had any more powder in his keg to spare. But he did. So "boom" it went, softly exploding my heart open (okay, well, anyway, a smidge) in ways that made me truly glad. Glad for life. Glad for this nutty show. And ridiculous as it sounds, glad that somewhere in this flatscreen universe, there's a Doctor who lives, and encourages us to do likewise. Guess we can both live a little bit more. Got to....after all, how else would I see "13" shine? --And shine, she will. She's the Doctor.
