i met warrior at a signing years ago, while all the other wrestlers where sat down looking like that they hated meeting the fans warrior was standing up shaking everyone's hand and asking there name, i really appreciated that
After meeting all the big names. Flair (grumpy), Taker in 94 (quiet but cool), Hulk (fast but chilled, bigger than I expected). HBK 94 (fun), Bret (cool guy), Anvil (wasted RIP), Piper (took time and lots of fun), Dibiase (quiet), Duggan (fun). I’ve met tons of the guys. Warrior was the best, he took more time than anyone, signed more than I’d paid for and took extra photos. Just a true gentleman.
Having lived on his property in New Mexico, we became friends while I worked on his property. " His wife and children where very dear to my heart as well." He will always be in my memory for ever! RIP Big man.
@@BirdDawg1 Don't get smart. I didn't ask for the definition of a typo. I genuinely though he was quoting something and i was curious as to what it was
That generation is the last time I watched wrestling. WWF will always be my favorite. The ultimate warrior, Coco beware, macho man, tug boat, rawdy piper, hulk Hogan, super fly Jimmy snuka , Jake the snake.. And many more
DarthAmerind All GREAT, no doubt... but you should live in the Future not the PAST.... Nice to go down memory lane, but some really great wrestlers still out there today. Sorry you will probably miss them.... Dan Marino Retired, but I still watch Football...
like or hate him, the charisma he has is off the charts. All the wrestlers back in the 80's and 90's had charisma to burn. Todays WWE stars fall so short!
I wish I had found the ultimate warrior before he passed away. 7 years after his death I am listening to him and it's motivating more than anyone else.
The Ultimate Warrior was probably the greatest character ever in professional wrestling, which is meant as a sincere compliment. It's one of the few wrestling characters that you could literally see in a comic book or in an animated cartoon with the look, the voice, the physique, the acting and signature moves and overall performance. He really developed that character into an art in a way. There could be a few others in that class, but not many. It was quite an achievement from an art/entertainment/fantasy sense. Captivated a generation.
As a person who became disabled as an adult, I wrote Warrior an e-mail years back about the blog post he'd written that day & how much it inspired me to keep going in my pursuit to get better. To my surprise, the man wrote me back and told me that I was his inspiration on that day. I'll never forget that kindness. He truly was a class act.
The ultimate warrior will never die he lives on in US those who were lucky enough to watch his reign of power... When he did his promos and he wrestled he was magic and he instilled respect in us and we didn't even realize it... For the lucky few who paid attention he was like our big brother.
I know many people didn't care for the Ultimate Warrior, but I loved him when I was a kid. His performances in the ring always kept me glued to the tv, not to mention just the way he entered the ring, running 100 mph and being crazy. That was when wrestling was golden in my opinion. I don't care what anyone says, I will always be an Ultimate Warrior fan, may he always be resting in peace.
I loved all those wrestlers back then, but no one was like the Ultimate Warrior lol, he was my favorite along with Macho Man and the Road Warriors. Those 4 guys right there we'll never see anything like them again
He was my Ultimate favorite wrestler, number 1. I had a book that was about him and his life. There will never be another wrestler like him. RIP to the Greatest man.
@@dianeshea4192 Cool. Was the book a proper biography? If so, do you remember the name of it and if it's still available? Sorry for all the questions lol, if you reply then thx in advance.
Our heroes are our heroes and they're human beings as well. This guy, here, was just a decent guy who preformed to make a living. Made a lot of us smile along the way. God love you. Rest in peace.
Fans got more out of Warriors entrance than most other wrestlers entire matches. RIP Warrior load the spaceship with the rocket fuel and see you on the other side brother.
WMVI was "pure gold" because Hogan carried his ass through the match. Guys like Rick Rude worked their butts off to make the matches watchable. There's no question he was an influence on young fans and was a definitive character of the early 90s, but he was all entrance and little else.
Macho Man's death really changed Warrior. That seems to be a driving force behind his sudden website and youtube stuff in 2012-13. He realized that if wants to leave a legacy, he needs to get out there. A few blogs on an old webpage won't do anything. Autograph signings, and open-ness to the WWE are the only things that can establish that. I'm glad he did it for his family and fans.
I agree, it did seem like Savage's passing had a huge impact on him. As a long time fan there was tremendous healing when he came back for the Hall of Fame, even if it was quickly followed by tragedy. Even still, his career came full circle and his legacy became immortalized. The running the man did, will live forever...
@@chadlieb2437 Warrior was big on discipline and commitment. And Savage was known as a perfectionist. they were pals and very similar in their level of passion. too bad they never tag teamed
I never realized he could sound so rational. So aware. He actually got it. It's very sad that he doesn't get to grow old and tell these stories and enjoy life. Thanks for getting this. I remember the night he beat Hogan for the title. That was one of the most exciting moments in wrestling history. He really affected the kids with his presence. That crowd was electric.
this was a man that truly represented and personified intensity and passion..and had a much different mindset than others,,his spirit and legacy will live on FOREVER!!!..RIP ULTIMATE WARRIOR
@Eric Engesser, "Judge not that ye be judged." Mt 7:1; As a believer, I understand that the hearts of me are what our Elohim God is after. Though Warrior may have been out there at times, we do not know what Elohim God may have done through him. Let's just appreciate the Warrior for his prowess and not judge based on what we see. This is not to bash you, but to assist you in your walk with Yahshua Christ. As far as the Warrior is concerned, I agreed with some of his principles as they were indeed Biblical. May he R.I.P.
@Gabon Sansworth, that's not a silly trend. I had been studying the Hebraic Bible and learning the titles of our Creator. This didn't start from "The Passion", but because I wanted to pursue more. However, thanks for your input and may Eloha bless you.
Gabon Sansworth He was crucified by the Romans. Although thats irrelevant bc Aramaic is what was spoken. I agree, its not a trend, and personally, I don't think He cares what hes called as long as it isn't blasphemous or cursing Him. There are those w religious paralysis who think its a set of rules to follow, or principles to adhere to. Idk the guy whose saying it, but people who speak that way generally do to make themselves sound more reverential, or intelligent than they are. Remember, their stupidity isn't a sin, but pride is.
Great video. Definitely inspired. Would it be possible if you could remove the RIP Warrior during the whole video and have it at the begginig and end only? It kinda distracting.
I've always been a Hulkster fan and hated the Warrior when he outmatched my hero in WW6 but there is no denying that the Warrior was one of the most awsome wrestlers and one of the greatest icons of professional wrestling of all time ; may he rest in peace .
One AWSOME guy!!! I used to get chills as soon as his intro music would start!! And STILL do if I watch any of his stuff! Dont watch wrestling anymore , just cant match the old stuff...PERIOD!!!! You will ALWAYS be missed WARRIOR!! Rest in peace big guy!!!
I always like Helwig's "Ultimate Warrior" persona. He really lived up to it with the intensity that he brought to the ring each and every match he was in because in each and every match that he was in he brought his ultimate performance. This is why he was so enjoyable to watch. It's hard to believe that it's already been over four years since he passed away. May he rest in peace.
I loved the ultimate warrior when I was a kid. I guess a lot of the other wrestlers in the locker room hated him. I think they were totally jealous of his dominance for success. He was a force to be reckoned with that many couldn’t compete with. His act was great, from the running all over the place to the way he would talk on the mic. He had an attitude made for success. #LEGEND
This man was my childhood - still to this day I remember all the great memories of him. He is the reason I still have a mullet in my 40s. I copied everything about him. You could see how genuinely kind and good of a person he was. You could see that mostly in his reactions to his girls - Rest in paradise Jim
This guy was my hero. I used to go apeshit when his theme came on. I would run around the living room and do the rope pump the over head pump. I cried when he beat Hogan.
lost a few people in my life and i kick myself when i think of them not being around anymore, Warrior is one of those guys as kid i loved him the larger than life character the warrior was, Jim was misunderstood in the business and the reason that is, is because he was upfront and honest.
Duster71, No, he just knew his worth. His persona was the best in the business and thats fact. So there was he knew his worth AND like he said he didnt wanna wrestle forever, it was just a chapter in his life. Wrestlers didnt like that. To them it was life, to him it was a job.
No, he refused to work with other wrestlers in the ring and he was a low-down unprofessional dirty dealer when it came to contracts. The bullshit he pulled with his boss paid off some in the short-term, but came back to bite him in the ass and balls in the long-term. Besides, he was all look and not much skill. Sort of like Hogan, but Hogan was great with a microphone. The only thing this guy was great at was a syringe.
+ Tonto Epstein. Thats not true. There are several instances, one involving Ted Dibiase where he was mad at Warrior for something happening in Tokyo yet it was Vinces call not Warriors. This guy was pushed to be the next Hulk Hogan so hell yes he wanted the same pay. Hogan just failed in Hollywood and had to come back. Warrior didnt wanna step down and understandably so. Would you? As I said alot of wrestlers did what was best for the business and Warrior did the best for himself. Thats not low-down and dirty thats smart because WWF screwed ALOT of guys. Look at Bret Hart. Warrior did his thing until it started to not benefit him as much, then he left. You gotta look past the nonsense and see what really happened. Everyone dogged Warrior but after he died ALOT of truth came out and basically he refused to be screwed.
Dress it up any way you want, extorting money minutes before a big PPV event is unprofessional, lowdown, and dirty. And often not working with the other wrestlers was simply unprofessional. I enjoyed this: deadspin.com/the-ultimate-warrior-was-an-insane-dick-1561275496
The ultimate warrior was one of the greatest...he was truly larger than life he was just awesome.....everytime I'm feeling not to inspired I just put on my "always believe" ultimate warrior dvd and it helps me get motivated...thank you warrior miss you everyday....RIP warrior
you guys are so lucky to meet this guy before he passed....my brother an i idolized this guy growing up ,. i had this huge wall sized poster of him in my room ....definitely an american hero....R.I.P Warrior.
I miss him also and unfortunately his gold digger wife & Vince killer McMahon murdered this man... It's not coincidence that Jim's wife works for the wwe now! Guys really need to think about who they marry bc these bitches is money hungry & evil
Warrior's ring entrance was full of a lot of energy, and he was a much better worker then he was given credit for. Most of his matches were short, but they were all quality.
U.W. was my childhood hero. In '87 I was 9 years old. My friends and I were quickly hypnotized by his face paint, hairdo, bicep bands, and overall badassness. Oh course it made our year when Warrior beat Hulk. Straight up, when Warrior left Wwf, I stopped watching or caring anymore. I was like 12 or 13 the last time I ever watched wrestling. I literally found out yesterday about a bunch of these guy's, including Warrior, passings over the last 20 years or so. I mean I didn't even know Rick Rude had died young until last night, when I found out about Warrior's "heart attack". This shts crazy.
I wanna lay down, curl up in a big girlyman ball, and cry now. I didn't know Ultimate Warrior had passed away. This totally sucks we keep loosing all the great ones. RIP Ultimate Warrior. You will be missed.😥
The hulkster said it best in his description of the warrior character, "he was a good guy with a maniacal edge." All the negative rhetoric about the warrior was mainly from envy only because he lit up the crowds than most wrestlers during that time.
+SacredLust97 You are absolutely right. Aside from the intense work out and steroids, he kept his life spiritually-like clean. He was the new guy in the 80s who got the VIP treatment because of how he sold arenas in his mere presence. Hogan and the rest just ganged up on him in terms of locker room politics. Those saying he was a bad worker forgets about the likes of Batista and Goldberg who probably were worse.
The people who have something bad to say about Warrior are people who are jealous of his success. He was my favorite wrestler since I was a kid & he wrestled as “The Dingo Warrior”. I understand why people would be jealous, there are many others who worked very hard on their craft & might of even been more skilled but some people just have an almost indistinguishable quality & energy that draws people to them, The Ultimate Warrior embodies that notion. Great little interview here of a man that was largely mysterious.... R.I.P. Warrior!!
My life was full of drugs and all kinds of bs that I never really got to mourn Ultimate Warrior when he passed and this man meant everything to me. I used to go nutts when he used to come out. The way he used to come out the ring and get everyone active. To me he was the strongest wrestler even more than Hulk Hogan. And Hogan was my favorite until Warrior came around, Hogan was my 2nd favorite after that. And now I'm feeling a great loss like he just passed. Drugs ruined my life. im glad I got out of a lot of bad habits I had. R.I.P to and incredible awesome human being. Much love to you, and may you b in the comfort of our LORD And Savior with all of the other great wrestlers. GOD Bless
No... I love this and I love Warrior.. I miss this man D: he meant a lot to me as a child and growing up watching his Interviews like this.. Listening to him speak can teach you something each time, I've never witnessed anyone as Entertaining and Full of knowledge as this man. Took a lot from his speeches and applied it to my life.
I couldn't really give a f*cking shit about what the wrestling 'critics' have to say about Warrior. The man was an incredible human being. Sure, we can all read anecdotes on his wrestling career from bitter people like Bret Hart about how 'one time when Warrior was a young wrestling superstar, he prioritised his character over a 'Make a Wish' child' etc. But the fact remains that Warrior grew to be an amazing man; leagues and leagues above the average 'former wrestler', who usually end up as an addict or a pathetic vessel for nothing more than immaturity or self-pity. If we all had Warrior's commitment and passion, then the world would be a much, much better place. RIP Warrior. You inspire me every day. Legend.
Met Jim Hellwi and his then-fiance, Dana Viale, herself a body builder, at the Comic-on in Chicago, where i took my son to meet him. He gave my son all the time he wanted to chat. My son pointed out a group of handicapped kids nearby and offered his place to these kids so they could talk to him before the crowd swelled any more. He gave those kids all the time they wanted. Class act.
Gosh this man is my hero from my childhood. The intensity he resonates the moment he comes running his entrance is phenomenal. I don't give an F what other peeps say bout him, this man is my Idol, before Taker and Austin came. RIP Warrior.
Congrats on that special moment. That guy would make me excited waiting for Sundays to watch him on tv. His moment wrestling Hogan reminded me of Jordan when he surpassed Magic and took the spotlight. Legend..RIP Warrior
And remember this man has been in alot of gyms and seen alot of people training. You don't have to got there to get big there are loads of ways to train
I remember the first time I saw Jim. Him and Sting showed up in Memphis as The Blade Runners. Then he became The Dingo Warrior and then The Ultimate Warrior!!! He truly had the look, the attitude and the work ethic to sell his product. He was selling himself, he was selling The Ultimate Warrior!!! So many criticized him because as he said, he didn't have the name or the background of second and third generation wrestler's. But he didn't have too. A lot of the other wrestler's said he was wreckless and dangerous to work with because of his jacked up attitude. The problem is,,, what they call wreckless and jacked up,,, was pure intensity!!! I think the real problem was they were jealous of him and his character. Warrior was larger than life and lived his character and lived what he preached!!! R.I.P. Warrior!!! You certainly are missed!!!
The feeling of getting to the TV with my friends and we literally cried tears of joy all because the Ultimate Warrior was coming in the ring.. As a child this was absolutely breathtaking...
Thanks for the wisdom, Jim. I just wish I had found these videos while you were still down here. I hope you're happy, silencing naysayers on the other side.
There's something in an interview Warrior said that strikes a chord with me - "I think you can do incredible things just by using self discipline, belief and hard work"
