What is UP RU-vid? Welcome to Fred's Full Throttle!
It's been 2 weeks since I talked about the Z06, so I figured I should do a bit of catch up, especially since there's been a bit more news out there. I'm going to be focusing more on the feel and experience of the car, and less on the production, company news, and allocations.

Assuming that GM was behind Austins early acquisition of his Z06, it is working out well for GM as he is sharing with us all that he is learning about the car's behavior, capabilities and statistics that I'm sure we all find more interesting than short speed runs when the cops are not watching.

Fred, Exactly...kudos to Austin. Of all the RU-vidrs buying a Z06, I looked forward to his videos the most. Especially since he will track it often. Considering he owns a McLaren, and provided feedback to GM on why his McLaren is a much better track car than his C8 Stingray, and what they needed to make the Z06 competitive with McLaren, Ferrari, etc, his observations are based on real world experience. Since I plan on the Z07 option, along with CF wheels, Cup 2 R tires, I wanted to hear his feedback regarding street use as well. When he said the ride is very similar to his Stingray, I was a happy camper! The only negative was thee Cup 2 R tires after 3000 miles lost some of the usability. After hearing that I will not put them on the Z06 and will order them separately just for track use. I sense Austin running Laguna Seca is coining soon! I enjoyed the most recent Car and Driver review as well! Keep up the good work! Sully

Hi Jonathan! Agreed, that car is gorgeous! I hear ya, a lot of the RU-vidrs out there aren't really passionate about Corvettes and the car is a stepping stone to them rather than the main event. If I had my Z yet, I'd definitely be diving in pretty deeply, but alas, I'm probably 2-3 years out at MM. Have a nice day! -Fred

Awww...Yeah... It's Fredday Again...ha ha ha! Fred, another great video and a sweet flannel shirt 😏 I 100% agree on your take of Austin, Speed Phenom! He's young, a car guy, a driver, and seems like a great guy personally! Sadly, I find myself sticking up for him on some channels bashing his age, voice, etc.! Haters will always try and bring people down! Austin and Fred, you guys keep doing exactly what you're doing and I'll hold back the haters and fight their negative comments 😉🤟 Anyway, I did see the "Glass of water" vibration test of the FPC engine on RU-vid! Very interesting and helped resolve "some" of my concern about the FPC engine. So far the Z06 has performed amazingly in Austin's hands during his 3k mile journey home! Hopefully he'll answer my question on the comfort of the Comp Seats during his long drive. I am seriously considering them for my C8 build and will be long distance driving mine as well. Hoping they're comfortable enough for those adventures! Stradman also has his Z06 and is driving from Whitmoyer's to home in Utah. He has Comp Seats too and will definitely be the first person to modify the Z06. He'll probably have an aftermarket exhaust on really soon! Definitely doesn't have the same love or knowledge for the Z06 as Austin does though! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and time with family! -Shane

Hey man! Haha, always nice to hear from you, the enthusiasm is a highlight for me, and I look for your comments whenever I put out a new video lol. Gotta run the flannel when the basement starts getting chilly! Your points about Austin really hit home for me, both for myself and my own experience in hearing comments about him. It's sad and disappointing that adults feel the need to try to bash him, to try to discredit him, when he's a great ambassador for car enthusiasts. For my own channel I occasionally get "haters", and poof, banned from commenting. No warning, no second chances, if people can't be respectful, I don't need to hear from them. Funniest thing (you might appreciate this), is in RU-vid-land when you ban someone, what it does is it actually just hides them from the channel, from all other viewers, etc... But the awful person on the other end has no idea. They can still watch my videos and comment. But they're yelling at a wall, because no one else will actually ever see their comment. I'm amused thinking about them trying to get under my skin, and wasting their time yelling into a void. But I digress...that's already giving them more thought than they're worth. Agreed with you on the vibration thing, I was happy to see and hear (in a few different places) that that never really came to pass. I think Chevy really did their homework and realized that it was worth the extra engineering time to figure out all those issues and solve them, rather than deal with big issues down the road on a flagship car. Lastly, Austin saw this video and really enjoyed my compliments, as well as had a few of his own for my delivery, camera presence and approach. He and I are keeping in touch and if he's ever out in this area (or I out in his), he's open to meeting up to do something. I was flattered and thrilled at the same time. One of the best things about car culture is the people, and Austin (and yourself) are a testament to that! Have a great weekend my friend, and we'll talk soon Shane! Fred Out!

@@FredsFullThrottle Nice! That's great he saw your channel and offered some advice and knowledge! Would be very cool to meet up with him and hangout and drive! Can you ask him how the Comp Seats felt after driving 3k miles in his car? I am currently planning on the comp seats for my C8 allocation. I intend on driving long distances and vacationing in it and I didn't want to find out later the comp seats were horribly uncomfortable or something...ha ha ha! Austin hasn't replied to my question or comments yet and I don't want to be a stalker 😜 Thanks -Shane

Glad you mentioned Austin. I'm hot/cold on him.... Austin is a very young man. He click baits frequently but everyone does. He aggressively goes after very early models. I suspect he did the factory delivery with a personal vin to get it early. I think he hayseeds us a bit. He does come from wealth. He makes good money but his family is very wealthy. He had a super snake at 17. Great to see someone get a Z that wasn't fully loaded. Still at 3000 and ready. There are also big changes in the $7500 electric car deductions effective Jan 1. Might be a good episode. Happy holidays to you and the Fam.

Been a long time speed phenom subscriber. He's now gotten popular enough he doesn't respond to my comments because he has so many. Good and bad I guess lol. Can't wait to see his laptime videos. Macmulkin put my Z06 order in and has me price locked at 159,935 before tax. At #91 currently and wanting carbon aero, I still have a long wait and watch multiple Z06 youtubers but it won't be long and I'll be enjoying my own. I won't be watching as many youtubers to pass the waiting time but I will still be keeping up with Fred's Full Throttle, speed phenom, Rick Conti, Brink of speed, and HPO. I like community youtubers that you can actually communicate back and forth with. I hate stradmans "style" plus you can't converse with him anyway and he knows less about Corvettes and other supercars than almost everyone I know. Theres a lot of clickbait youtubers that just don't seem authentic. Luckily there's your channel and a few others.

Hi Vettesweetnos! Nice to hear from you! Congrats on the order in, and agreed I think it won't be too long for you to get yours! I appreciate the kind words! I try to keep it interesting, and will respond as much as I can, though even now each video gets 30+ comments (which is amazing in itself), so I have to pick and choose a bit. I never in a million years ever thought I'd ever get as popular as I am now, and have no idea what the future brings. But, I can say I am not doing this at all for the money, and will always stay true to my roots. From my end, I have to say it's incredibly special to me to have people that actually want to reach out, talk, ask questions, and have a dialog. It is incredibly humbling, and exciting for me. Anyway, once you get the car, do you have any drives that you really want to do, or track events that call out to you? Now that there's more footage of the cars out there, I can't imagine how fun it'll be to take it on some back roads. :) Have a nice weekend! -Fred

@FredsFullThrottle Год назад
Great spotting! SCX24. The wood thing it's sitting on is a customizable crawler course I'm building. You build a perimeter then saw down 2x4's to fit so they wedge in like Tetris. Then if you cut them in all different shapes/sizes, you can move them around and make a rough off-roading course that's endlessly configurable. I have something special planned for the thing I'm building, not sure if I'll put it on the channel, but if it comes out awesome I might do a little segment on it. Have a nice day! -Fred

Fred, remember what I said about remaining on topic? You lost me last week with the motorcycle thing. It's good to have diverse interests, but IMO diversity can sometime become counterproductive...... While you might win some, you can also lose some.... Using Austin from Speed Phenom as an example, he's keeping things on topic and in progression with Corvette. It's a niche platform that draws a following from those interested in that topic... It needs to cover something that's accessible and obtainable by those who may follow the channel. Otherwise you begin to lose the followers because they're unable to relate. For example, whenever Austin gets into the European Exotics like his McLaren or others out of reach of his followers, he takes the risk of those no longer able to relate.... This is just my honest opinion and may not be agreed upon by some, but I hope it'll be taken constructively at your end...

Hi Tom, Nice to hear from you! I do remember what you said. However, it's a challenging line to walk. Corvette's are only one of my motorized interests, and I got a LOT of emails and feedback about the fatigue video from a couple weeks ago, asking me to do more content that branches out. Even in last weeks video, many of the comments were thanking me for not strictly covering the Z06. I'm trying to tow the line between covering Corvette, Z06, and the upcoming variants, while also branching out a bit. I got a lot of good feedback when I did some videos covering Porsche earlier this year as well, and that's an area I'd like to explore more. While I would like to grow and obviously getting views/subs is nice, since I'm not doing this for the money, but rather for covering subjects that I'm interested in, I am going to explore various avenues. Sorry the bike video didn't resonate for you, I realize that with every subject you gain some you lose some. I've had people reach out saying I cover the Z06 too much, and they stopped watching me because of that. You can't please everybody, and instead my approach is be me, and try to make myself happy, and hopefully it resonates for a lot of folks, but if not, I'm at least happy with what I've made. I totally get your point, and appreciate you raising it. It's an incredible amount of work on top of my already hectic busy life to make these videos, so I appreciate that you care enough to say something. I will try to find a balance between Corvette, Porsche, bikes and whatever else. Bikes won't be a large focus overall, as they don't resonate for as many folks, but please feel free to ignore next week's video as (spoiler alert), it's bike related. I bought a new Ducati for $70 and it explains how I did it. But after that video there won't be bike stuff for a while. Anyway, have a nice day! -Fred

LOL!!! Fred, it's not that I've never been into bike's. Heck, in my earlier years I loved bike's, but they didn't love me. LOL Memories of bike's were usually connected to pain which usually stands out in our minds the most. For example, Dirt Bike Riding equals pain and broken bones. Street bikes? The last street bike I rode was a Suzuki GSXR 1100 that belonged to my younger brother at the time. Knowing myself well and my total lack of fear for speed and the GSXR being stupid fast at the time, I figured my life expectancy had to have been reduced by 80% or possibly more. So, do what makes you happy because life's too short...
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle Год назад
@@tmcternan47 totally makes sense! Streetbikes are silly fast. All I was getting at is that no matter what I make I get feedback from some to do something different, and from others to keep doing it. lol I try my best, but the only way to do it is to do what interests me. Fortunately it will be car related the vast majority of the time. Have a nice evening! -Fred A

You can't please all the people all the time, but if you can please most of them most of the time, then you are doing good. Fred is a regular guy making time from his real life to express his thought out logical analysis of Z06 news when there is worthwhile news to analyze. For me, someone like Stradman, even with his high popularity, is exhausting and something near hearing finger nails on a chalk board with the forced high energy "show". It is great for Austin to have the time and money to have more supercar content in his videos.
@tmcternan47
@tmcternan47 Год назад
@@polystictus I totally agree, particularly regarding Stradman... Tried watching one of his latest videos for the very first time and couldn't make it all the way through, or at least until the fatigue set in.... And Austin appears to have become a great ambassador for Corvette based on the relevance of his questions at the time of the reveal last year. And then his commitment to have purchased two Stingray's together with covering his track time with them. While I'm in a great position having placed my deposit with Mike Furman@Criswell Chevrolet back in February 2019 for the Z06 with the Z07 Performance package, I can see why Austin was able to take delivery so early. GM/Corvette just can't buy the amount of advertising Austin provides them, particularly in the detail he seems to go into....
