There are many reasons people point to for why the niners choked away their sixth possible Super Bowl title, but this one I don’t hear a lot of people talk about but I think it’s still crucial.

They lost the SB because the O-line couldn't block at the end of the game. Bruford blew his block on the 3rd and goal play in OT and ended up having to settle for a field goal. THAT is what cost them the game.

dude im so sorry but you dont know what your talking about, first the throw to deebo was a pass interference and if your talking about the play with aiyuk he gave up on the play.

You not showing the clips and then going on to claim that ray ray muffed the punt shows me very clearly that you don’t know what you’re talking about

I didn’t word it correctly I understand that his teammate muffed it and he himself failed to recover

I can name 4 specific plays and 2 specific incidents that any ONE of which would've flipped the results, with the other team winning. Game reversing plays: 1. CMC fumbles ball on first 49ers drive. 49ers were driving down the field for a sure score; had the Chiefs' defense back on their heels. Failure of fundamentals: ball security. 2. Same play. After a great initial block Kittle gives up blocking Karlaftis and starts talking/kidding with him, thinking the play is over. But the whistle hadn't blown yet! Karlaftis saw CMC fumble and darted right AROUND Kittle (who had his back to the ball) while Kittle was talking to him, and dove on the ball, recovering it for the Chiefs. The next two players on the pile were both 49ers. Failure of fundamentals: not playing until the whistle blows. If Kittle played to the whistle (kept blocking Karlaftis), 49ers would've recovered the ball and resumed their scoring drive. 3. Muffed kick/punt? return. Ball hits back of Darrell Luter's heel and takes a weird bounce. Returner Ray-Ray McCloud makes the mistake of trying to scoop-recover it on the run, after the 2nd bounce INSTEAD OF JUST FALLING ON IT. Chief's recover the fumble. Failure of fundamentals: ball security. Chiefs score on the next play that should've had the 49ers going the other way. 4. Confusion at 49ers O-line pass pro at end of 4th quarter - key 3rd down play at around the 15 yard line. Feliciano goes out, injured. Replaced by Burford but O-line communication fails. Burford makes decision to block inside due to blitz confusion, but no one covers Chris Jones - who rushes UNTOUCHED to sack/block? Purdy on KEY 3rd down play. Jennings/Kittle? was open on the right, CMC was open on the left and Aiyuk had left his defender on the ground with a nasty move and was ALL ALONE in the EZ WIDE OPEN. Failure of fundamentals: not knowing your blocking assignment; poor communication; NEVER leave Chris Jones unblocked. Just chipping Jones would've resulted in a for sure TD; Purdy needed just a half-second more. Game reversing incidents: 1. Spontaneously, Dre Greenlaw's Achilles tendon tears, he collapses, as he was jogging onto the field. (Had been having problems in previous weeks.) Mahomes and Reid lick their lips as now the whole center of the field opens up. Burks, trying to cover for Greenlaw, is targeted 9 times by Mahomes and Reid - for 9 receptions. Also, Mahomes makes successful runs upfield, converting 3rd downs and extending (scoring) drives. No way do Chiefs win if Dre had stayed on the field. That middle of the field would've been locked down. 2. Not ONE holding penalty against the Chiefs O-line the whole game! C'MON. Bosa and others were held routinely. As widely reported the refereeing was imbalanced. 49ers had several holding calls. I think there might've been 1 holding penalty against the Chiefs during OT? Not sure. 49ers lost the turnover battle, recovering only 1 out of 6 fumbles. This kind of extreme imbalance is consistent with what I recognized earlier in my comment - a pattern of lack of fundamentals. Dumb 49er penalties (also a fundamentals-discipline failure) also killed drives (neutral zone infractions, off-sides, holding, etc.) Poor execution on too many plays. Congratulations to the Chiefs. They deserved the win! They made the most of their opportunities while the 49ers did not!

An overlooked reason for why the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII: Tommy Townsend was responsible for 10 points.

Wasn't Brock's fault. It's a team sport.

I didn’t even say that, I’m just saying this one of the many reasons they lost.

Uhmm no. Come on man. Even casuals can see Purdy was excellent. Hell, even the "haters" said Purdy was pretty damn good in the SB. Purdy is a top 5 QB and he is going to be the 9ers franchise QB. And it is NOT EXACTLY what JimmyG did. Stop.

I see what you mean. I think you have a misconception that I think this was the biggest reason. I don’t think that I just think this is a tiny but overlooked reason

2 missed TDs and missing Aiyuk on the slant on 3rd and 4th isn't "excellent". Stop it
@ericred8124
@ericred8124 Месяц назад
@@moorishamexemal-morocco4204please. The two TD throws he had the defense in his lap (and there was DPI on both the Deebo throw and the Aiyuk throw) and the slant to Aiyuk was the same situation. Even if he if these qualifiers weren’t true, he was still excellent. Just ask the defensive coordinator of the Chiefs who called Purdy after the game to tell him just that. I’ll take his evaluation over yours.

@ericred8124 Its called a hot read, you look for the quickest developing route by defensive formation. Regarding the other 2 tds he missed he just overthrew them. The fact of the matter is both teams made mistakes but the Chiefs were coached better and prepared. That's a knock on Kyle not Brock, however, let's normalize giving him criticism the same way we give him praise.
@ericred8124
@ericred8124 Месяц назад
@@moorishamexemal-morocco4204 I have no problem with giving him criticism and he’s by no means perfect. However, the Super Bowl seems to be the last hurrah of all the Purdy haters so there’s still some to be defended. There’s no denying the criticism has been way way over the top as compared to any praise.

The term "defending super bowl campion" is nonsense. The NFL does not take away last year's trophy - this isn't boxing

What a bunch of pedantic garbage. Every Super Bowl champion wants to stay on top, and you're still the champions until you're eliminated--and if you make the playoffs it doesn't matter if you've earned the first seed or the seventh. Just ask the Chiefs if they're the two-time defending champs. The rest of the league knows it, too.
