I own it and I am very happy with it . Funny how no one complaints about other diver watches being analog, like the , Citizen aqualand , Seiko prospex , rolex Submariner...but Casio makes the best analog diver ever and people lose their minds. The watch is not complicated. it is fairly simple. it sets it's own time , you can set different settings on the app. but for the most part is set and forget . it is a watch you can wear daily unlike the digital version. Perfect diving back up watch to my dive computer too .

I have owned both and I really like the new Frogman. I liked by A1000 too. I think the Analog Frogman looks better in red.

A lil late to the party, though I felt compelled to respond to one of your opening comments, lol My Fiancé's Bro is a Navy SEAL and while they obviously use computers for their operational diving, I gifted him a digi Froggy(GWFD1000B) that he wears as his primary on his casual sh!t's 'n giggles dives. He loves it though I asked him if he wanted an analog model and he said that it was way too busy, too difficult to read underwater through a mask and that he'd never dive with it. Nice review🤙 Continued Success🍻 RP😂

I dive commercially and for recreation, I do use a dedicated dive computer so I dont even use the dive features of the analog frogman. I just need a big watch that I can use as a backup and something that I can also use casually. For what it does it's great. Is it worth $800? Not really.. This should be like a $350-450 watch.. Got it used for $300

I have BOTH. Analog Frog better than digital, so sold digital frog. Frogman seems a little more premium than the Mud 2, but the Mud 2 has the "wow" factor so I can't sell it yet. I have the yellow Analog and Grey/Grey Mud. Yea, if I had to pick one.....it's amazingly close and I'm sure you will really enjoy the Frog.

@@korethoe262I'd go for the Analogue Frogman over the GWG-2000, but the back of the former is what puts me off entirely. Also, the newest Mudmaster looks much better than both of these.

I have a couple of MT-G models as well as a Mudmaster and they all have the analogue hands. I completely understand @Jeff Mutter but, on my side, I'm an analogue type of guy and LOVE these large watches, even if they are similar, they have a "je ne sais quoi" about them. This Frogman may end up in my roster of G-Shocks sooner than later ... However, it would be the "1A4 - Red" version ... big colors for a big watch ;-) Thanks for sharing!!

Hello, sir I want to ask a question about my g shock gwf a1000 watch... every time after 24 or 1 am the wordtime dial and the day dial will turn off and when i press the round button on the bottom left 3 times it clicks normally again what is the solution?

Can it show different tide times or just the current tide in your selected point? Meaning if it’s currently low tide can you adjust it on the watch to see when high tide is? Didn’t know if you could move the subdial time when in tide mode to to see when the tide points change maybe.

It's fits better on wrist better than my GWG-1000 Mudmaster and it's about the same size. Mine came from Japan, and like you said, it was cheaper than world market.

does this thing have any sensors? its just a chronograph and a tide graph you can't manually adjust without a smartphone. correct?

It's cheap when compared to a Rolex/Omega dive watch. And it's tougher, more reliable and has more functionality. IMHO, it looks better too

I got one of each higher model except frogman and rangeman. I need this blue one for my frogman but still waiting for the rangeman to be upgraded, I don't like the one that needs charging.

I want a dive watch as a back up for my dive computer...I do dive in cold water....That's why I went with the Citizen....If this had a depth meter, I'd buy it too...ascent alarm as well. Great looking watch though! Liked your review on the Citizen Promaster BN2038-01L....and the Pelican like box!

I bought the red variant when they first came out in fact I think the very first batches that went out. Feel wise its built like the best frogman, sapphire glass FINALLY , best most comfy cozy strap ever.. ever ever. Like you I'm semi age based blind and those sundials are dinky , the app like almost all of casio parts of the app is underwhelming. I accidentally purchased the blue ani frog last night due to Macy's doing one of those 20% off sales so figured all these months later I'd give it another go BUT this time I'm only going to treat it like it's a watch that tells time & that's it. Looking into seeing if I can break it all down to slap a few coats of actual swiss level lume instead of just counting on that crappy flash of light it offers along with maybe playing with one of the other strap colors offered in this model. I think your review is literally exactly what most ani frog owners go through as they love / hate it... Good job.

not for everyone. but it DOES not have to be digital, honestly the digital one is a wanna be dive computer. for 1000 dollars i can get a top of the line dive computer that can tell me down times, surface time and calculate my diving tables for me . as well as observe my mix in my tanks for level, you can even program the type of mix in your cans,. they also have compass and temperature meter on a huge over size screen that is easy to see while diving . for 1000 dollars I get a digital watch from Casio with a depth meter to 50 meters.. awesome. You know what The analog frogman gives me that my diving computer does not give me? a watch I can wear every day and still show my diver's pride. in addition analog hands are easier to read in depth , so it works well as a back up timer in case your DC fails. yes the digital one does that too . I suppose the digital one is good for snorklers are free divers.

I don't know how it is with divers who wear wetsuits, but I've always assumed that these giant bulky dive watches look and feel more proportional and filled out on a wrist when worn on top of bulky diving equipment Even if the person in that equipment has normal sized wrist

Out of all the Frogman watches ever made only one has a depth meter - the GWF-D1000. The Rolex sub doesn't, the Seiko Tuna doesn't, the Omega Seamaster doesn't, the Blancpain 50 Fathoms doesn't. They are all very expensive dive watches.

Good looking, excellent materials, but absurdly expensive and complicated to use. Also the new versions of Master of G become merely hosts of conectiviy services, simply doesnt possesed real sensors. Using GPS practically for all.

It's an ISO certified diver that's also a G-Shock. Worth what I paid right there (1A2) Seiko certified ISO divers are insane $$ that's why they dropped the SKX line

I think this watch has one of the most impressive analogue only modules on any G-Shock, right up there with the Gravitymaster. That being said, this watch is a bit confused and honestly it could have been the new Gulfmaster/Seaman, instead of a Frogman. I also think a carbon monocoque case is a terrible look for a premium priced G-Shock.

Forget size, you don't need two very similar looking watches tbh. That's why I stuck with the GWF-D1000, also because it's built much better than the Analogue Frogman.

that is exactly my gripe. I like the gwf1000 I just picked up because all the information is on the single piece of LCD. Perfect for my pea brains. Everything I need I take a glance at the lcd and I get these information almost instantly. The new frog is cool but there are like three dials with their own little sub dials. All on individual display and driven by their separate mechanisms. My ape brains just can't. Gonna stick to the digital frogs... Plus durability is another concern. I am sure these new frogs are very tough and solid but theres no way they would tolerate more abuse than the digital ones.

Is that meant to be a joke? I doubt anyone would guess that a 1k watch is a seiko. The seikos that sell well are less than half that cost. BTW this from Froggy isn't 1k.

Own many Frogman watches...but will not buy the analog...I am finding that they are really moving to this analog type for all their watches...same case and dial all named differently...I think they are trying to lower production costs...I am one very disappointed G Shock collector. Don't believe me...check out the new versions of the Gravitymaster, Mudmaster, and Frogman...they all use to look very different from one another...now they look very similar.

so these things record depth? ive not seen anyone go through the modes. this analog one doesnt have a compass? or thermometer? its a barometer? but no altitude read outs. i think its the same sensor as a mudman just read differently? but ive heard other things like some have this special depth meter in it i duno what the difference would be.

@@typerightseesight , they dont do squat aside from starting a dive timer , now what the app records & guesses at I'm not certain as I havent dived with one yet. For actual diving diving the dwf1000 has more on the watch on the fly functions.

Please bring back the digital frogman. This is the worst frogman ever made. No diver will ever dive with this. All divers I know dive with a dive computer. The old frogman is still good for short dives. Digital read and fast. When diving we need the info quickly. This is a joke. The only people who will buy this are POSERS. this is the worst about this watch. Only posers for diving will want this.

Just because you don't agree with another viewpoint, whether it be mine or someone else's, doesn't mean it's "elementary". I agree with 9aR7 and simply don't like the Frogman in analog form. Real divers much prefer and use an actual dive computer with a digital readout. While still a very nice watch, the new Frogman is not diver friendly. I also don't care what you wear but I do have opinions on certain brands & models. And we are all entitled to our opinion whether you agree with that opinion or not.

I actually have dove with this watch and do find the elapsed time feature rather novel. That being said, just to add my two cents, I have been doing recreational and commercial diving for quite some time and even though I love my dive computer and never dive without it, I always have a watch on my other wrist. Because we all know computers never go bad. So it drives me crazy when people say divers don't wear dive watches. They do, as their primary source, no. I use it as a backup just so I have some reference as to how long I've been down should, God forbid, something happen to my computer. But just respect people's tastes and don't criticize other's who have differing tastes than you. And I'm using "you" generically. We all have our opinions but our love and passion for watches is what makes us opinionated. We're all guilty of it. As for the watch, I like it. I find it very comfortable and personally like the analog display. Small digital while diving is impractical, especially at deep depths. Hence the dive computers having such enormous numbers.
