Context does not necessarily invalidate utility. For someone who believes that pursuing community is worthwhile, conquering the fear of being an outsider is still relevant and supportive information, even if that information comes from someone against the concept of community. ...but yes, it is still an _interesting_ usage, which is worth pointing out. Public Restrooms are, always have been, and always will be the Temple of Melty Blood Players. You could bring a setup into a random Walmart and soon it would become hoast to all the 5 Melty Blood players in your state.

People think its only public restrooms but their perception of history is totally wrong. If anything it shows Melty on PC being accessible allows it to have tourneys and top 8s anywhere the followers deem it be comfortable. Be it a local Burger King (next to a plug), the middle of a parking lot (one of the Frosty Faustings events had a fire alarm trigger so they had to take Melty there) and even a local park and using the outlet that the vending machine is on. If the small Melty band can do it, so can other players with their games available on a portable medium!

@@t4d0W Imagine the possibilities for Switch fighting games? Smash is obviously huge enough that a bathroom or Burger King might be too small unless the event is remote but I'm interested in how others can do given that Local Multiplayer is possible with a single system or multiple of them. It is similarly untethered and reminds me of Monster Hunter gatherings that I've seen on 3DS and how some games don't actually need multiple copies of the game for multiple systems to play locally (Mario Kart DS and 7 are examples).

In 2019, Core-A's videos were a big influence for me to start getting into fighting games and attending local events. Texas Showdown 2022 was my first major offline FGC event I've attended. I had a great time and managed to place into top 8 of my game of choice. While I'm still relatively new to the FGC, my experience with it has been very positive and I think as long as you enjoy playing fighting games then it's easier to contribute meaningfully to the community and be accepted than you might think. Thanks to Core-A for the great content and helping me find something that I love to do and a community I'm glad to be a part of.

Man Geralt, I really have to thank you a lot. Since 4 weeks I was suffering from a horrible gastritis, and it was pushing me downwards mentally as well. So since I was stuck with laying in bed and watching stuff, I was browsing RU-vid and eventually stumbled upon your analysis videos. They really brought me through this well! I was with the og anime vetarans in tournaments where i played og melty blood to melty now, ah to six stars and stuff. I just fazed out and no one recognizes me in tournaments anymore. Kinda miss the real anime community

How has it changed exactly? I'm not terribly surprised if people don't remember people who don't win nationals (no offense - I know your types of games don't get big tourneys often). You kinda have to stick to the people that you know best since even a small community won't remember each person forever.

@@thelastgogeta no i won nationals, its just the veterans know me and only a few select few but i got tired of competing cause there is no money in the games i play and people have forgotten my name. So i go by a new name now

@@thelastgogeta also in the community im in is split cause we have niche anime games like melty, ah, koihime and such and popular games like bb, gg amd now tag. Im more known in the niche anime fighters than in the popular ones. Before all anime games were nieche but after evo 2014 or 2015 when bb got to main stream evo. The anime community completely and fully split

@@ONIGIRIKINGU Sounds rough. I guess there are a lot of new faces and there isn't exactly a "anime game documentary" (see the one for Melee) which notes the hype and the big names. Personally, I just play BBCS2 on my 3DS and haven't watched more than one finals for BlazBlue probably so I'm part of the problem... As someone who wants to learn a bit of everything (I really like Yatagarasu), I can only recommend sharing knowledge in a similar way to how Core A Gaming does. You don't need to match his omniversal vision but there must be enough similarities that you can communicate with people who are interested in say Jump Installs but want to play something which isn't FighterZ, BB or GG. I'm doing my part for platform fighters personally and hope people try out some other games (some of which predate Smash Bros).

Every time you upload a video, I instantly wanna buy every popular fighting game and play them and only them until I'm top 8. It's amazing how easily you're able to do this. Your editing, your metaphors, even your manner of speaking. You do an amazing job of taking away the fear and exclusivity-feeling of fighting game communities, and turn them into what they really are - bunches of friends enjoying a hobby that millions of people spend their lifetime savings just to see on a big screen.
